Community Discussion - Are Rich Snippets a Worthwhile Tool to Keep in the Online Marketing Toolbox?
-
We've heard a lot about Rich Snippets in the last few years, especially with regard to how they can help move the needle for ecomm brands.
In the latest YouMoz post - 5 Essential E-Commerce Rich Snippets for Your Store - Aleh Barysevich provides some easy-to-follow tips he's used to help brands find success using Rich Snippets.
What about you? Have you found Rich Snippets to be all they're cracked up to be?
-
I am using Yoast premium as well. It is helpful for Rich snippits but I keep getting Micro Data errors. Honestly I cannot tell if it is helping me but from what I have read it is a big deal.

Hey guys,
I have been using rich snippets for our product pages for around 6-9 months for a store with ~1500 premium products and an annual turnover of 2m.
I think an interesting point to raise, would be the effect rich snippets have on product CTR (traffic). These days, unfortunately, a lot of shoppers shop around for the best price.
The downside to advertising the price products directly on SERPs, is that those shoppers who are looking to better a price they've already found, won't click through. Which means I have limited ability to convert them with other offers of free shipping, returns, gifts etc.
The upside is that you see more relevant traffic.
What are your thoughts?

I can speak from experience that Schema markup is a great addition to an e-commerce site, especially regarding Product Reviews. All-in-One-SEO and Yoast both have great rich snippet support if you are a Wordpress User as well.
-
We are testing out SEO ultimate, it is a plugin for wordpress and would allow user to select and input schema data without coding.
However we still experience problem with editing large quantity of products for e-commerce shop, takes a very long time,
does anyone have experience to do this efficiently?
Thanks
J

That's exactly where they have the most value to me as a prospect. I want to ascertain as much information as possible before I make a commitment to click a link and visit a webpage.

My experience, they have an enormously positive impact.

Rich snippets and the markup really help to stand out in some cases (reviews (stars), local signals and events), this in some cases is really nice for CTR.
And I second @peter for the use of JSON-LD....that's pretty awesome.
-
Yes, I have done for most of my sites manually but after reading this article I found some interesting points like i need to use Structured data markup helper.
-
There are many plugins for schema.org markup in WordPress directory. But this one:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/schema-creator/
is extremely useful. As alternative - you can use JSON-LD and put it anywhere in HTML.
-
We are really curious about this too. Does anyone have a convenient plugin for wordpress that you can suggest?
