International Targeting - Google Search Console not recognizing the tags
-
Hi,
We are facing a problem with international targeting not being recognized by the Google Search Console.
This is the URL to which we added the following tags:
URL:
http://kilgray.com/memoq/2015-100/help-en/index.html
TAGS:
Flang tool Result: http://screencast.com/t/rrBgcr1X
Search Console result: http://screencast.com/t/fP45ZR2c
I am a bit lost here, as the tags were validated also from different members of the community. Is this because of the frames? (Yes, the site is built in frames).
Thanks for your help!

Hi Aleyda. I just stumbled on this thread because I'm having the exact same problem as Kilgray Marketing was – Google Search Console isn't recognizing the hreflang tags on my client's site:
cbisonline.com/eu
https://cbisonline.com/euI realize this thread is closed since you've already answered the original question, but I was hoping you might be able to provide some insight on my situation. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance...

Hi there,
The problem are the frames indeed. If you take a look at the cache version in Google of that page: http://kilgray.com/memoq/2015-100/help-en/index.html doesn't show where you are adding the hreflang annotations and none of the content of that page in fact: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:1jRFSsVC_MwJ:kilgray.com/memoq/2015-100/help-en/index.html%3Fproject_home&num=1&hl=en&gl=es&strip=0&vwsrc=0
The issue is that with the frames is not only the hreflang annotations that Google won't be able to identify, but the all the content you have in there is not visible and therefore won't be able to rank the pages that use it... which is much more critical than the hreflang annotations.
My recommendation would be to replace the usage of frames, make sure that all of the content is shown through one piece of HTML at a time... and if you include then the hreflang annotations in the head area of the HTML Google will be able to identify them... as well as your content.
Thanks,
Aleyda

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I do know about the noindex, but this is actually something new. We set up that up today as this specific version is old and we do not want to have it indexed anymore. The page which you suggest is actually the new version, and we will sure add hreflang-tag there. But what is the point if google can't just read it?
I added the hreflang-tag more two months ago (where there were no noidex-tags) and even so Google couldn't drill the page. I am not sure if it is worth doing.

1st - if you don't know - you've got a meta-robots noindex-tag, so the site couldn't be indexed.
2nd- The page with the content you try to add the the hreflang-tag is a frameset.
There is no text, not a single word, just two iframes. For Google, the frameset is not the page wich it would show in search results, it takes the frame: memoq/current/help-de/memoq_help_title_page.html
(maybe you could ad the right hreflang-tags here to - google has indexed it)
I have never used Framesets, and really never in more than one language.
Maybe anybody has now an idea wich is the best practice for you - for me it's all I ca say about that case

International SEO - Hreflang tags and URL Structure
Hello, I wonder if any SEO internationalisation experts can help. We are a UK centric business with a .com domain which all our traffic currently goes to. We have been growing in the US and are therefore looking to internationalise our website by building out some US pages using the subfolder .com/us. Since the keywords we wish to target in the US are different to the keywords we are targeting elsewhere, when implementing hreflang tags is it possible to use a different URL for the US page? So let’s say we are targeting ‘estate car’ generally but want to target ’station wagon’ as the keyword for the equivalent US page, can the URLs be different? Example: General page: www.example.com/estate-car US: www.example.com/us/station-wagon Hreflang tags: Would that be the correct implementation? Any help or guidance would be much appreciated!

Errors In Search Console
Hi All, I am hoping someone might be able to help with this. Last week one of my sites dropped from mid first day to bottom of page 1. We had not been link building as such and it only seems to of affected a single search term and the ranking page (which happens to be the home page). When I was going through everything I went to search console and in crawl errors there are 2 errors that showed up as detected 3 days before the drop. These are: wp-admin/admin-ajax.php showing as response code 400 and also xmlrpc.php showing as response code 405 robots.txt is as follows: user-agent: * disallow: /wp-admin/ allow: /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php Any help with what is wrong here and how to fix it would be greatly appreciated. Many Thanks

Google index graph duration in Google Webmaster Tools
Hello guys, I wonder, my sites are currently being indexed every 7 days, exactly. At Index Status page in GWT. However, this new site gets updated almost everyday, how can I ask google to index faster and more frequently/almost daily? Is it about SItemap.xml frequency ? I changed it today to Daily. Thanks!

Noindex meta tag
Hi When following Webmaster Tools/Optimization/HTML Improvements it says that we have duplicate title tags and duplicate meta descriptions for hundreds of pages, As corrective action we have added to those pages and also changed title tags to make sure that they are different but still Webmaster keeps reporting that the duplication exist. Is it possible that google bot doesn't see our noindex code while crawling? By the way our seomoz report says that there is no duplicate title tag or meta description on our site google has crawled our site today and we received our report from seomoz today thanks

Tags and Duplicate Content
Just wondering - for a lot of our sites we use tags as a way of re-grouping articles / news / blogs so all of the info on say 'government grants' can be found on one page. These /tag pages often come up with duplicate content errors, is it a big issue, how can we minimnise that?

Rel-canonical tag
Hi, I'm having some confusion with the rel-canonical tag. A few months ago we implemented the rel-canonical tag because we had many errors specifically duplicate page content come upon the SEOmoz web app (mostly because we use tracking code). I had asked what to do about this and was advised by the SEOmoz web app to implement the rel-canonical tag. However, when I'm working on the Keyword Optimizer Tool, it always checks off that I'm using the rel-canonical tag improperly, and then when I go into our sites' CMS for that page and uncheck "Use Canonical URL", the keyword optimizer tool up's my grade for that correction/that I've made an improvement. So my question is if the page I'm working on is the one I want search engines to find, should I not be using the Canonical URL tag? Should the Canonical URL tag only be used on URL's with the tracking code?
