Homepage meta title not indexing correctly on google
-
Hello everyone!
We're having a spot of trouble with our website www.whichledlight.com
The meta title is coming up wrong on google.
In Google it currently reads out
'Which LED Light: LED Bulbs & Lamps Compared'
when it should be
'LED Bulbs & Lamps Compared | Which LED Light'Last snapshot of the page from google was yesterday (5th April 2016)
Anyone got any ideas?
Is all the markup correct in the ? -
Hi Matt,
It's still not resolved to be honest.
All though it seems likely that Google are just overriding our Meta Title, although we still don't know why they've chosen that rather than our one.Cheers

Hi TrueluxGroup! Did this get resolved? We'd love an update.

Even though you update your title tag on your page, Google from time to time changes the title tag in the search results. If they decide that there's a better title tag that gets more clicks, then they're going to change.
Unfortunately there really isn't anything you can do about Google changing your title tag. You can, though, look at the title tag that Google is using and see if you can determine how they are coming up with that particular title tag. For example, if your site is using a breadcrumb trail, there's a good chance that they may pick up on that and change your title tag.
What's also frustrating is that Google will also change your title tag in the search results for certain search queries--I've noticed that they'll change it for one keyword but not another.
It does sound like you have sorted this out, though, I have run into issues where the site's theme conflicts with other SEO settings. Glad you figured it out.

Hi TrueluxGroup
Thanks for your help. I have just found out that the theme's SEO is conflicting with Wordpress SEO. I have now changed this and hopefully should of sorted this problem.
Your comment was helpful - thanks

Hi Truelux Group
The title and description has been entered in the theme's SEO where it states to update the website's title and description. I can see this in the source code in row 19. Maybe there is a problem with the theme not updating the title and description correctly? I will get someone to take a look at this thanks.

Hi Claire,
I just took a look at Strateji.co.uk and there appears to be no meta title or description on the homepage of the site. Might be why your having trouble, unless I've misread something.
Anyone else seeing the same?
-
Hi mr Trelux & Claire,
`php the_post();if( is_home()){?><meta< span="">name="description"content="YOUR DESCRIPTION"/>php } elseif (is_single()){?> php the_excerpt();?>" /> php }?></meta<>` That is de code i use for it. With Wordpress here are handy tools like Yoast but I see you are not on WP. Good luck!

Hi
I am having the same problem. I updated my title weeks ago and Google is not picking it up. I have been advised that 3rd party cache plugin's can prevent this updating and also that Google can choose to display your title in another format that it sees fit if it wishes.

WordPress posts Title field inserts title into blog posts like a headline but doesn't ad H1 tag how to change?
I have a Wordpress website which is just using the Default theme, when I post in the blog, whatever I put in the "Title" field at the top of the editor is automatically is placed within the body of the blog post, like a headline, but it doesn't include any H1 tags that I can see. If I add my own headline within in the blog editor, it still inserts the Title like a headline. I am using the Yoast SEO Plugin and also write the meta title there, should I just leave the Wordpress title field blank so it doesn't insert into the blog post? Or is that inserted Title being recognized as an H1 even though I don't see h1 tags anywhere? Hope this isn't too confusing.

Why would one of our section pages NOT be indexed by Google?
One of our higher traffic section pages is not being indexed by Google. The products that reside on this section page ARE indexed by Google and are on page 1. So why wouldn't the section page be even listed and indexed? The meta title is accurate, meta description is good. I haven't received any notices in Webmaster Tools. Is there a way to check to see if OTHER pages might also not be indexed? What should a small ecom site do to see about getting it listed? SOS in Modesto. Ron

Google Places
If you rank on google places, I have noticed that you do not rank on the front page as well. I have a site that ranks on front page for it's keywords; however, because they are (1) on google places, they don't show up when someone is localized to that area. They show up on google places but not on front page. If you turn of localization, they are first in serps. How can I get around this? Two separate sites? One for Google+ (Places) and one for SERPS?

How can we get a site reconsidered for Google indexing?
We recently completed a re-design for a site and are having trouble getting it indexed. This site may have been penalized previously. They were having issues getting it ranked and the design was horrible. Any advise on how to get the new site reconsidered to get the rank where it should be? (Yes, Webmaster Tools is all set up with the sitemap linked) Many thanks for any help with this one!
