Avg Page Load Time Increase After Responsive Web Design
-
The Avg. Page Load Time has been steadily increasing after our website went responsive. What could have cause this?
-
I agree, GA can be a little hit and miss but it at least it has given you some reason to look into it further and see if there is actually something wrong. As per Dmitrii, I would suggest running a series of tests to establish if your site is truly running slower. There could be a multitude of reasons as to why it is running slower so eliminating the issues one by one may help.
Places to test your site include
tools.pingdom.com
gtmetrix.com
Google page speed test
Webpage Test.
Also as per Dmitrii, in browser with developer toolsAs it is a new site, are there any new elements that were not included before? new scripts, images etc. Consider also using CDN's to deliver your content for added speed gains. Check the waterfall tables to see if any elements are struggling.
Have you also moved to an SSL when updating redesiging your responsive site, this can also cause a slight reduction in speed.
Hope this helps

Hi,
I'm using Google Analytics and it was outsourced which probably means it'll cost us for any changes. I have pasted below 3 months of data after the responsive upgrade. Why do you think Average Page Download Time is getting faster?
Avg. Page Load Time |4.26| |5.14| |6.57|
Average Page Download Time |0.53| |0.54| |0.36|

Well, using GA for this is quite useless. It's very inaccurate. Use right click->inspect element->network tab for those times. Or webpagetest.org.

Hi there.
Did you outsource the project or you have in-house team? Also, how do you get this information - Google Analytics or actual loading times in "Web Inspector" or something?
The reason it can be increasing is if while rebuilding the website developers used a lot of none-deferred JS and extra CSS, which is not optimized. So, if you have in-house team, tell them to optimize it. If you outsourced it - oh well. What you can use as a reference as well - Google PageSpeed Insights. They even provide "optimized" files (don't blindly trust those).
P.S. And, of course, if you need tech help - you can PM me or email me at dmitrii@regexseo.com

Redesign Just Starting - Should I Leave The Previous Incomplete Site or Setup A Temporary Holding Page and Redirect Previous URL'S?
Hi All I've picked up a new website project and wanted to ask about the best way to proceed with the current site during the development process. The current site is incomplete although it has been live for a while and has over 80 pages in the sitemap. Link to site https://tinyurl.com/ychwftup The business owner wants to take down the current site and simply add a landing page stating "new website coming soon". From an SEO perspective, am I better to keep the current site live until the new site is ready? Or would it not make any difference if I setup the landing page and add 301 redirects from each page in the sitemap to the landing page. Many Thanks In Advance For Any Assistance

Best less expensive graphic design
Hello, We have an Ecommerce store and we need our category buttons to be redone and to shine. Unfortunately, I've tried all my places and none are 10X, though none of them cost very much (like Fiverr, Freelancer) What I would like is some advice on where to go for inexpensive but still very good quality graphics. I'm a good designer, and so far, I can do better graphics than the designers I've found, I just don't have the time as a busy SEO. Please let me know If you have any gems you are willing to share. I'm searching the community colleges as we speak. Thanks.

Migrating login page from website: SEO impact
Our current login page looks like www.website.com/log-in/. We are planning to migrate it to a sub directory login.website.com. For years, our login page is the top landing with highest visits after homepage. If we migrate this now, are we going to loose traffic and drop in rankings? Thanks

SEO tricks for a one page site with commented html content
Hi, I am building a website that is very similar to madebysofa.com : means it is one page site with entire content loaded (however are commented in html) and by clicking on sections it modify the DOM to make specific section visible. It is very interesting from UX point of view but as far as I know, since this way most of my content is always commented and hidden from crawlers, I will loose points regarding SEO. Is there any workaround you can recommend or you think sites like madebysofa.com are doomed to loose SEO points by nature? Best regards,

Usual time to index and rank a new site
Hi Just wondering if anyone knew how long it usually takes for a brand new site to get indexed and ranked? I launched a new site about 5 weeks ago. So far I have had 96,000 pages indexed but the majority haven't ranked particularly well or appeared. The ones that have ranked aren't ranking high even though they have better content than competitors sites... And my old domain. Do I just need to hang tight and wait till my domain authority improves? Is there anything I can do to speed up this process? cheers
