Will including a global-site link in all 100 local-sites footer be considered spammy?

If I am a car manufacturer brand site(global), and I request all my location-specific domains include a link to the global site in their footers, would this trigger a red flag for Google? There are roughly 100 location-specific sites, but I would like to come up with a long term solution, so this number could be larger in the future.
Is it best practice to only follow the footer link on each location-specific site Homepage, and nofollow the rest of the footer links on each site?
Is it best to only include one followed link to the manufacturer brand site (global) on each location-specific domain?
Is it best to not put this global link in the footer, but rather towards the top of the page only on the homepage?

When it comes to site-wide links, first consider the users--if you think they will actually click on those links and it would be helpful for them, then you should include them. If you were to include those links in the footer, they should be nofollow links.

Might a solution be to <no follow="">the link to the global site in all instances - perhaps the safest option? That's what I would fo - the first thing that came into my mind... any other SEO feedback on this would be good

You have site A and other location centric websites B, C, D and more.. (100+). From my understanding, adding a link in the footer (followed) to all the location based website will give Google a red flag. This is because Footer links are generally side-wide.. and adding 100+ side-wide links to a main website does seems like a problem to me!
If I were you, I would have added the link on one page (instead of site-wide) to location based websites. The links should contain either diversified anchor text or may be branded one.
Just a thought but I would love to hear others opinion on this one!

Sitewide footer links on that many domains isn't really the best idea. Would these links serve any real purpose or is it just for the backlink strength?
If you were going to link from each one, I'd suggest keeping the volume very small and using them to add value. For example, rather than dumping them in the footer and masking most with a nofollow, point them to a great blog post on the global domain or at least say something like "interested to know more about [manufacturer brand]? Check out our global site to see where we're headed in 2016." You can include the link in that sentence so it makes sense in context.
Going somewhat off topic here, is there even a need to have 100+ websites for a single brand? More often than not, the better solution is to have a single powerhouse of a website rather large volumes of satellite sites scattered around the web. I imagine you're talking about sites like CarBrandLA.com, CarBrandNYC.com etc, rather than CarBrand.com CarBrand.com.au, CarBrand.co.uk? If it's the latter, these geo-specific TLDs make a bit more sense

Competition Link Metrics Analysis - Do you have any suggestions ?
My sub-pages are ranking well, but Homepage isn't ranking well for the keywords I'd like it to. It used to in the past. My site - njhypnotherapy.com used to rank (#2-5) 1st page in google for many keywords. In Sep/Oct I noticed my homepage ranking drop dramatically for the main keywords. Well, I made some foolish decisions and I'm trying to clean up the mess. Low quality links, duplicate content...etc I rewrote most of the content, removed unnecessary pages, removed as many low quality links, and used disavow for the rest. It's been a 2 Weeks now. I noticed a lot of improvements in my sub-pages. From #50 to #20. Not Bad. My homepage still isn't ranking. Any suggestions to improve? Spam linking site how to report
I have a spam linking site that is generation thousans of links to my site. Even if i have a good link background, this is the only spammy i have, each week number of links comings from it increases by 500 , i know have 3000 links for that site and 1800 for other sites, but that one keeps growing What should i do, i dont want that link it is imposible to remove as webmaster does not respond

How to fix doorway site
Hello, This client has a one page doorway site that is a copy of a category of his main site. It looks like the main site and has over 100 links to the site. We're cleaning things up to be white hat and we're wondering how to capture this traffic and link juice (this doorway has no backlinks though, it is an EMD) without a ton of money and effort. My thought so far is to put a uniquely designed paypal cart on there with top products and one link to the main site that says something like: To pay by credit card or to see more products, visit mainsite.com Would that be squeeky clean white hat or is that still a doorway headed for an update? What's best to do here on a low budget?

Multiple domains pointed at one site
I know things are changing and the things Google thinks are cheating searchers from finding what they are really looking for are changing too. So, I have multiple domain names that are related to my site, but not the actual site name. For instance, I have a certification program called Certified NetAnalyst that has a few domains for it... .com, .org and other derivatives like NetAnalyst. I would like to point the domains to my main company web site and not create a site just for the certification. Does Google think it is cheating to point domain names with my company branding names to my main web site? What about domain name forwarding to a specific URL, like taking the certification name domains and pointing them to the certification page instead of the main site? Wondering if one could no follow (don't know how to do that) the domain forwarding links so it is not duplicate content? Is that possible in some way? Could you put another robots.txt file with excludes in the domain forwarding url landing page so it would not be duplicate content? For the future I want all SEO "juice" to go to the main domain, but the keyword value of the domain names is valuable. I sure would be grateful if someone that has a good understanding and specific recent experience with Google policy and enforcement could offer some sage and practical advice and perhaps a case study example where Google "likes it" or on the other hand a good explanation of why I may not wish to do this! How to Remove Unwanted Links
I dropped like a rock in Google rankings on the 24<sup>th</sup>

of April. After having to become familiar with Google webmaster tools and doing
allot of investigating I discovered that there is a website www.siteloki.com that has 6,742 links to my website. I have
tried to contact siteloki with no response. I tracked them on Whois to an
office suite in LA called the building to find that the suite listed is the
building management suite. I have had
the following sent to them via email, their contact page and posted on their website
forum and still no reply: Please take action to remove all links to this website
immediately! I have been notified by my client that your website has a
malicious attack using links from www.siteloki.com
against www.getyourphotosoncanvas.com. My client did not solicit these links, pay for these links or authorize any
third party to build links for them. They just appeared. The links are even
pointing to my client’s old website (same url). This is a big problem and I
don’t understand why these links exist. There are currently 6,471 links from
your domain. Please remove these links immediately or we will consider legal
action against your company. We have contacted Google on the behalf of our
client and informed them of this malicious act. I expect to see these links
removed immediately! Regards, I have submitted the site in the malware reporting section
of webmasters tools. I have searched but cannot find any documentation on how
to block this type of attack. It seems that Google failed to provide any means
for an honest website owner following the rules to block this type of attack and
as a result we have been unjustly penalized by Google with a drop to the bottom
in our page ranking. I would appreciate ANY HELP in removing these links and getting the Siteloki website blocked from linking to my website? Any Ideas?0 -
What do Bing and Yahoo look for in a site?
Do Bing and Yahoo look for authoritative sites like google does? Do they punish sites for black hat or spamming? The reason I ask these questions is because one of my competitors was ranking in first place for many great keywords in Google, they have the highest authority out of all of their competitors. They must have been punished by Google because now they are not ranking for any great keywords in Google. However they are ranking 1st in Bing and Yahoo for most the top keywords, getting the the most visibility out of all the sites. The Link in Profile Page is it good BackLink or not?
Well, i see that we need 200mozpoints to be able to put our Website Link (DOFOLLOW) into our profile in SEOMOZ.. the way i know it, it would be a good BackLink for my site.
