Global SEO
-
Hey there Mozzers!
I have a question about global SEO.
I have a website that has multiple tlds (.com.au .co.uk .com etc )
Each of these are redirecting depending the user location.
Where should my link building be focused on?
What are some Global SEO Techniques you suggest ?

Hi Angelos,
Each one of your ccTLDs require their own unique SEO process, as they target different audiences that will search differently (language, seasonality, product/service preferences) and different competitors in each market, that will need a specific keyword research, optimization & link building actions, based on the characteristics and goals that you identify in each one of them.
So, my suggestions to start doing international SEO are:
1. Do a specific keyword & competition research for each one of them. Support yourself with a native speaker (even if it's in English and you also speak English, if it's a research for the UK, then have a British doing the research, as they might search with specific, different terms). Based on this research you will be able to identify your keywords target.
2. Do a technical, content & link audit of each ccTLD. Beyond the typical optimization related elements you will validate, it's important that you compare each of your ccTLDs link profile vs. the ones of your competitors for each country market: What's the gap? What are the link characteristics and volume? What type of links do you need to close the popularity gap? Where do these links to your competitors for each country come from? Based on these data you will be able to establish the necessity and strategy for a link building campaign.
3. Verify how you're ranking with each ccTLD in Google SERPs for each country and the organic search traffic from each country. You mention that you are redirecting the traffic although don't specify how. In general, I wouldn't recommend redirects only in very specific circumstances. To avoid country visibility and traffic misalignment issues what I would recommend is to use hreflang annotations instead.
4. Start tracking and monitoring your results independently in each country market. Most rank trackers support this. You should monitor each independently in Google Search Console, as well as they should have their own Google Analytics to monitor their traffic & conversion behavior per property and country.
So as you can see: Each property focused on a specific country market will require a specific SEO process, analysis and effort.

I hope this helps

I like the idea of considering each TLD as a different site. Nice advice.

Hey there,
If you want an advise on linkbuilding. I'd suggest you to consider each different TLD site as a different site. So then focus on local optimization as required.

SEO rank down after Magento migration
Since November we migrated our shop from Magento 1 to 2 and our organic traffic has dropped by 50%. We still haven't figured out the cause (or a solution). Are there more Magento users who have the same issue? Charlotte (www.dochorse.nl)

Advanced SEO question.
Hi, I manage and do the SEO for this site: www.aerlawgroup.com. If you Google "Los Angeles Criminal Defense Attorney", you can see I rank well (1st page). I have managed to achieve similar rankings for interior pages within the site: www.aerlawgroup.com/domestic-violence.html (Google: "Los Angeles Domestic Violence Attorney".) Here is my question. No matter how hard I try, I cannot get to the first page on Google for the search term: "Los Angeles DUI Lawyer", for the following interior page: www.aerlawgroup.com/dui.html. Is there anyway that I can pass the authority/ranking (not sure what to call it) that I have for www.aerlawgroup.com to www.aerlawgroup.com/dui.html so that internal page ranks higher for "Los Angeles DUI Lawyer"? I apologize if my question doesn't make sense. In a nutshell, I'm trying to understand if there is anyway to use the ranking I have for www.aerlawgroup.com to help me rank higher for Los Angeles DUI lawyer for the dui interior page. If not, are there any other suggestions anyone has to achieve a higher ranking? Thanks!

SEO Landing Page Fail
We have a PPC landing page template that I've used to aggregate blog post collections thematically. http://www.ietravel.com/machu-picchu-travel http://www.ietravel.com/kenya-and-tanzania-safari The hope was that they would start ranking. After 5 months, it has yet to happen.Thought it was a good idea at the time because these pages have a nice prominent call-to-action area. It now occurs to me that the pages are probably under-performing because they are not incorporated into the main site navigation. Do you think that if I move these under their appropriate categories in the main site I'll see some lift? (Of course, I will add 301 redirects as well.) Thanks

Migrating online store to subdomain using shopify and effects on seo and energy down the road for seo
I'm looking for some clarity... Looking at using Shopify for an existing online store that we have to migrate. Setting up the store with shopify means we will be using a subdomain such as shop.mywebsite.com instead of mywebsite.com/shop. The following are points to consider when responding The client currently has an online store, however it's a proprietary shopping store and CMS that has since gone defunct and they need to migrate to an alternative in order to survive online against new CMS systems that allow the site and its content to be better optimized. There is a lot of existing SEO done on the current site that we don't want to loose PR on. There is roughly 2000 products Client has a fixed budget, dealing with checkout issues, custom work and various other "bugs" seems to be easier controlled with Shopify...thus budget can be used more on content/strategy and migration We want to run the main site in Wordpress and are wanting to use Shopify since it supports a gateway, has great features and seems like it would allow us to get more bang for the buck and can focus more on the main site and content strategy and drive traffic to the subdomain store if needed Or main concern is the effort of migrating 2000+ products to shopify and the traffic and PR it gives the current site will have a negative effect on the main domain itself. Should we really be considering this path? The domain is diveidc.com One main benefit to the subdomain is the ability to clearly segment products from the service portion of the site in the analytics and focus 2 clear strategies and track it in a very defined manner. We're really on the fence with this...any thoughts are welcome.
