Google Indexing our site
-
We have 700 city pages on our site. We submitted to google via a https://www.samhillbands.com/sitemaps/locations.xml but they only indexed 15 so far.
Yes the content is similar on all of the pages...thought on getting them to index the remaining pages?
-
Hi Brian,
809 over 863 is over the 93% of the site indexed. I'd wait a little more.
Also, I dont think that i will add value that you manually submit the URLs that you think are not indexed.A reminder, WMT is being realy delayed on the latest information shown. In my case, the last record is from 4th may.
-
site:samhillbands.com/bands-by-location/
says about 809 results for /bands-by-location/
Webmaster tools says 730 out of 862 submitted.
Is there any value to manually submitting the URLS that are on my sitemap but not being indexed?
-
If it's been a couple of weeks, should I manually submit the URLS's that haven't been indexed?
-
It's hard to say...our number of pages indexed was climbing, and I checked today and now it says my sitemap is pending?
-
Hi Brian! Any update? Are you still waiting for your site to be indexed?
-
You submitted those yesterday? You should wait more time. I'd wait for about 1-2 weeks for a correct number. Remember that Google takes its time to index.
I've had site for that amount of pages and some took about a week and others took over a month

Thanks for the response.
I have submitted my MAIN sitemap and the sumitted my LOCATION map seperatly.
All pages are set to index at the robots.txt level.
I have submitted some individual LOCATION pages and they are being indexed.
Thoughts?
I am getting that number from search console:
# Sitemap Type Processed Issues Items Submitted Indexed --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- 1 /sitemaps/locations.xml Sitemap Apr 25, 2016 - Web 771 15 2 /sitemaps/sitemap.xml Sitemap index Apr 25, 2016 - Web 862 103 -
Hi there,
Where do you get the stat fo the indexed pages?
I'm seeing about 60 indexed in the subdirectory: samhillbands.com/bands-by-location/Check it yourself by searching: site:samhillbands.com/bands-by-location/
Just to rule out, have you submitted all sitemaps to search console? Are all your pages indexable?
that last one is to be checked whether it's set to no index on the robots.txt or at every page with a meta tag.
And, have you tried indexing manually any random page and check if it's indexed?

Best way to do site seals for clients to have on their sites
I am about to help release a product which also gives people a site seal for them to place on their website. Just like the geotrust, comodo, symantec, rapidssl and other web security providers do.

I have notices all these siteseals by these companies never have nofollow on their seals that link back to their websites. So i am wondering what is the best way to do this. Should i have a nofollow on the site seal that links back to domain or is it safe to not have the nofollow.
It wont be doing any keyword stuffing or anything, it will probly just have our domain in the link and that is all. The problem is too, we wont have any control of where customers place these site seals. From experience i would say they will mostly likely always be placed in the footer on every page of the clients website. I would like to hear any and all thoughts on this. As i can't get a proper answer anywhere i have asked.0 -
Google Indexed Old Backups Help!
I have the bad habit of renaming a html page sitting on my server, before uploading a new version. I usually do this after a major change. So after the upload, on my server would be "product.html" as well as "product050714".html. I just stumbled on the fact G has been indexing these backups. Can I just delete them and produce a 404?

Site Structure: How do I deal with a great user experience that's not the best for Google's spiders?
We have ~3,000 photos that have all been tagged. We have a wonderful AJAXy interface for users where they can toggle all of these tags to find the exact set of photos they're looking for very quickly. We've also optimized a site structure for Google's benefit that gives each category a page. Each category page links to applicable album pages. Each album page links to individual photo pages. All pages have a good chunk of unique text. Now, for Google, the domain.com/photos index page should be a directory of sorts that links to each category page. Alternatively, the user would probably prefer the AJAXy interface. What is the best way to execute this?

I have removed over 2000+ pages but Google still says i have 3000+ pages indexed
Good Afternoon, I run a office equipment website called top4office.co.uk. My predecessor decided that he would make an exact copy of the content on our existing site top4office.com and place it on the top4office.co.uk domain which included over 2k of thin pages. Since coming in i have hired a copywriter who has rewritten all the important content and I have removed over 2k pages of thin pages. I have set up 301's and blocked the thin pages using robots.txt and then used Google's removal tool to remove the pages from the index which was successfully done. But, although they were removed and can now longer be found in Google, when i use site:top4office.co.uk i still have over 3k of indexed pages (Originally i had 3700). Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening and more importantly how i can fix it? Our ranking on this site is woeful in comparison to what it was in 2011. I have a deadline and was wondering how quickly, in your opinion, do you think all these changes will impact my SERPs rankings? Look forward to your responses!

Google Sitemap only indexing 50% Is that a problem?
We have about 18,000 pages submitted on our Google Sitemap and only about 9000 of them are indexed. Is this a problem? We have a script that creates a sitemap on a daily basis and it is submitted on a daily basis. Am I better off only doing it once a week? Is this why I never get to the full 18,000 indexed?

Getting Google in index but display "parent" pages..
Greetings esteemed SEO experts - I'm hunting for advice: We operate an accommodation listings website. We monetize by listing position in search results, i.e. you pay more to get higher placing in the page. Because of this, while we want individual detailed listing pages to be indexed to get the value of the content, we don't really want them appearing in Google search results. We ideally want the "content value" to be attributed to the parent page - and google to display this as the link in the search results instead of the individual listing. Any ideas on how to achieve this?

Tool to calculate the number of pages in Google's index?
When working with a very large site, are there any tools that will help you calculate the number of links in the Google index? I know you can use site:www.domain.com to see all the links indexed for a particular url. But what if you want to see the number of pages indexed for 100 different subdirectories (i.e. www.domain.com/a, www.domain.com/b)? is there a tool to help automate the process of finding the number of pages from each subdirectory in Google's index?
