Breaks in meta |

Hi
Does anyone have an opinion on breaks in meta & whether Google reads what is after the break? For example
Tubular Shelves | Easy Store Plus | Heavy Duty Shelving
Thanks!

While Google and the crawlers will still read all of the content before and after the break, the meta description is for use by more than just the crawlers! Users look to the meta description as a description of what kind of content is on the webpage in question, and use it oftentimes to decide whether they'll visit that page or not. For that reason, it usually makes more sense to use breaks in your title, and to make your meta description as descriptive and keyword-rich as you can while remaining relevant in terms of content.
For example:
Title: HVAC Company in Maryland | Heating & Cooling in MD | Montgomery County HVAC
**Meta: **Are you looking for heating and cooling service in Montgomery County, Maryland? Contact your local MD HVAC Company today!

Hi Becky,
Like Tymen said, separators in titles are fine - not matter which separator you choose to use.
Google will still reads and indexes the full title and will not cut off at the first separator.
I wouldn't be too concerned about where your separator is cutting off potential search queries - there are much bigger factors to consider before thinking too much about this.
Cheers,
David

Hi Becky,
Google does read what is after the break since I use it on my Homepage and the complete titkle including breaks is being indexed. The only thing negative about it is that the words before and after the break are not being indexed together
eg: Tubular Shelves | Easy
You would index well for Tubular Shelves but not as good for tubular shelves easy. Hope you understand it and it helps you.
Regards Tymen

Meta-description issue in SERPs for different countries
I'm working with a US client on the SEO for their large ecommerce website, I'm working on it from the UK. We've now optimised several of the pages including updating the meta-descriptions etc. The problem is when I search on the keyword iin the UK I see the new updated version of the meta-description in SERPs results. BUT when my client searches on the same keyword in the US they're see the old version of the meta-description. Does any one have any idea why this is happening and how we can resolve it? Thanks Tanya

Tool to identify if meta description are showing?
Hi we have a Ecommerce client with 1000s of meta descriptions, we have noticed that some meta descriptions are not showing properly, we want to pull and see which ones are showing on Google SERP results. You can use tools like screaming frog to pull meta description from page, but we want to see if it's showing for certain keywords. Any ideas on how to automate this? Cheers.

Yoast platinum, news plug-in & meta properties
I have followed some of the discussions about Yoast and the news plug-in, but have not found specific information about the use of meta properties. One of our competitors is successfully using about 15 meta properties to gain news ranking. They list the publisher as Facebook. Is this coding part of the Yoast package or hard coding? As an example:

Not sure how we're blocking homepage in robots.txt; meta description not shown
Hi folks! We had a question come in from a client who needs assistance with their robots.txt file. Metadata for their homepage and select other pages isn't appearing in SERPs. Instead they get the usual message "A description for this result is not available because of this site's robots.txt – learn more". At first glance, we're not seeing the homepage or these other pages as being blocked by their robots.txt file: http://www.t2tea.com/robots.txt. Does anyone see what we can't? Any thoughts are massively appreciated! P.S. They used wildcards to ensure the rules were applied for all locale subdirectories, e.g. /en/au/, /en/us/, etc.

Is it a bad idea to use our meta description as a short description of a product on that product page?
Does this count as duplicating content even though the meta description has no effect on search results?

Meta NOINDEX and links into the pages?
If I have internal links pointing to pages that are META NO INDEX, will Google still index them? Or does that only apply to pages that are linked to from an external domain? Thanks!

Improve change my Meta Description shows in SERP
I feel my meta descriptions are descriptive and fairly represent the info on each page of my site. However, Google frequently includes this "20+ items" in front of the snippet. I run a job site and each page list 20 jobs. What if I include a bit of coding in the Meta Description to include "Latest Jobs Posted TODAY's DATE" - since the jobs listed on the page will include a date. On each page there is also option to "Create Email Alert" and "save Jobs" maybe I should include writing about that as well? I have read all Google's documents on the importance of making Meta Des relevant for the page etc, so any good insight how increase my chances of getting the meta des displayed in the SERP would be appreciated. thank you, Kristian

Meta Keywords: Should we use them or not?
I am working through our site and see that meta keywords are being used heavily and unnecessarily. Each of our info pages will have 2 or 3 keyword phrases built into them. Should we just duplicate the keyword phrases into the meta keyword field, should put in additional keywords beyond or not use it at all? Thoughts and opinions appreciated
