WIX - problem with On-Page Optimization picking up SEO
-
Hi,
I'm new to here so please be gentle!
I have a WIX site and had it for a few months. I have m own domain sportinglists.com and I am using MOZ to improve the SEO. Having read a few things it seems that I may struggle, given that I have a WIX site.I am playing around with a certain page, that will most likely be the most popular one on the site (fingers crossed), however when I run On-Page Optimization it fails to pick up the following things that I know I have added to the page;
H1 (page title) - I added through the text options
Body text - I added paragraph text and
Image Alt - put in through the settingsIs this because that it is made in WIX that this won't be picked up or is more likely my incompetency?
Thanks

There's no automated way to use Fetch and Render for a word count, it's just a visual representation you'd have to estimate for yourself. (Not really sure there's much use to that kind of counting in most cases anyway.)
Screaming Frog does a decent job of crawling and imitating the crawler if set to imitate Googlebot with JavaScript rendering.

I'm curious about this idea.
On Fetch as Google, where do you look to see how many characters or words Google is reading on your page?asking for quitostreettours.com
Thanks!

Thanks everyone, I'll have a look at these and get back to you

Easiest way to check definitively is to go to the source. Use the Fetch as Google tool in Google Search Console to have a look at what Google sees on your page.

Actually with Screaming Frog, I can see your H1 tags [www.perfectchaosfilms.com] so it appears not to be a problem with all Wix sites.
I an able to see your different H1s, including "Austin corporate video production company" for the homepage.

I experienced the same thing, specifically my heading tags were not showing up in the audit tools I was using. I called Wix support and they told me since their platform is different than other services (Wordpress, etc) that some things wouldn't show up on those kind of 3rd party tools. But they assured me it was all being seen by Google's spiders. So you can take that for what it's worth.
You can take a look at mine for yourself. My site is www.perfectchaosfilms.com and my H1 tag is "Austin corporate video production company." Report tools aren't seeing it but Wix claims Google is.

I don't know WIX websites (though from the quick search I did, it does look like you have your work cut out for you) but I took a look at your site with the Screaming Frog SEO spider.
The crawl picks up a total of 14 pages and the H1s are all the same. (There are also secondary H1s that are mostly the same.) It doesn't pick up the images, although of course I can see that there are images. So I agree with your conclusion that you might have a bit of a struggle. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful--maybe there are some WIX users out there who can share how they overcame these issues.

I mean, we want promote the same "event" but we want understanding where the competitor is already present. How do OpensiteExplorer handle HTTPS pages?
For historical reason my entire site (https://www.banknorwegian.no ) is in )HTTPS. I am trying to use opensiteexplorer to get a linkprofile. But then I only get the links that point to www.banknorwegian.no (without https://) . Is it possible to use it for https pages? Also, I assume some of the same problem arise when I use the keyword difficulty tool. The pages I have show up in the result, but they have a Page Authority that has to be made from just links to the http version.

Too Many On-Page Links: Crawl Diag vs On-Page
I've got a site I'm optimizing that has thousands of 'too many links on-page' warnings from the SeoMoz crawl diagnostic. I've been in there and realized that there are indeed, the rent is too damned high, and it's due to a header/left/footer category menu that's repeating itself. So I changed these links to NoFollow, cutting my total links by about 50 per page. I was too impatient to wait for a new crawl, so I used the On Page Reports to see if anything would come up on the Internal Link Count/External Link Count factors, and nothing did. However, the crawl (eventually) came back with the same warning. I looked at the link Count in the crawl details, and realized that it's basically counting every single '<a href'="" on="" the="" page.="" because="" of="" this,="" i="" guess="" my="" questions="" are="" twofold:<="" p=""></a> <a href'="" on="" the="" page.="" because="" of="" this,="" i="" guess="" my="" questions="" are="" twofold:<="" p="">1. Is no-follow a valid strategy to reduce link count for a page? (Obviously not for SeoMoz crawler, but for Google)</a> <a href'="" on="" the="" page.="" because="" of="" this,="" i="" guess="" my="" questions="" are="" twofold:<="" p="">2. What metric does the On-Page Report use to determine if there are too many Internal/External links? Apologies if this has been asked, the search didn't seem to come up with anything specific to this.</a>
