Google Algo Updates

Hi
I have noticed strange drops in our rankings, some last Monday 12th & some Sunday 18th - has anyone else experienced anything on these dates?
I've seen talk of a possible algo update, but nothing concrete
Thanks!

Great thank you for your help!
I'll keep an eye on the comments

I haven't personally noticed anything that stands out particularly over the past weekend, fortunately or unfortunately.
John Mueller keeps insisting that it's not Penguin-related, and there doesn't seem to be any definitive conclusion as to what the recent updates are targeting.
I can only suggest at this point, hanging around in the comments sections of blogs like www.seroundtable.com when they post about the latest Google updates. Lots of people reporting changes that they've been seeing for their campaigns. Just make sure to bring a tinfoil hat.

Hi
Thanks for the reply. I had started to see benefits but now it's dropped again so mine are a bit all over the place.
Did you notice anything this weekend? I'm wondering if this was due to Google or something else we updated on the website,
Thanks!

We're unlikely to receive anything concrete from John Mueller besides "there are hundreds of updates every year, there's nothing to worry about"...
But the temperature has been pretty high with stormy weathers for the past month on Mozcast: http://mozcast.com
Whatever's happening, one of my ecommerce clients seem to be benefiting from these changes.

Am I hit by an update????? Please help
Hello. Is possible to have just a page or two penalized?? From 24th april ( around that date i heard was an update) two of my pages ( out of 37) do not rank for their main keywords but are indexed. Also, lately a lot of my pages drop out of top 100 and get back on their position. Any help? Am I in trouble? Anyone has the same problem?

Anchor name URLs & anchor blocks: how Google sees them?
Hi guys, Anchor name URLs & anchor blocks: how Google sees them? As far as I know Google hasn't ever recommended anchor name URLs and anchor blocks, mostly when you have one page site, but I have ran into an organic result with an hyper-link to an anchor name URL. anchor name link There is a proper link and there aren't on the page and the code the words "Jump to". It means Google has put those words there and it has also taken the header of that block as anchor text. Why has Google placed that link? The query is "faqs umbrella company", so I thought that Google has seen "faqs umbrella company" like "what is the most popular faq about umbrella companies?" and therefore perhaps the correct answer could be "Is an umbrella company the only option I have? What are the alternatives?". Although, IMHO the most popular FAQ on Umbrella Companies should always be "what is an umbrella company". Unfortunately, that page is only worthy of third Google organic result page and there is no hint of rich snippet or any kind of conversational/KBT optimisation on its source code. no-rich-snippet Someone has any idea of why Google shows that link and if it's something that we can optimise in our pages? Fetch as Google in GWT - Functionality
Hi, For example, some of the HTML improvements notices from GWT, says dupe meta descriptions or titles, for pages that have since been 301 redirected or had a canonical tag added. So, my idea is to force google to read it using "Fetch as Google" - hoping that it will now see 301 redirection or the fix we have implemented. Does this work? How long does it take? Lastly, should I just click the "fetch as google" or should I also click on the "Submit to index" button? Thanks!

What is this new feature on Google?
Hey everyone, I typed "Vancouver Colleges" into Google and this new feature came up which I have never seen. It displays popular schools. Could someone tell me what this is called? And how do I get our college on here? Thank you! 4hnT7bV.png

Can visitors duration time affect Google Rankings?
Does the time a person stays on a website affect Search Rankings? If so, could the lower time from Adwords Visitors be effecting organic rankings? And the same for bounce rate. If Non-Paid Search Traffic Avg. Visit Duration time is 3:55 and Paid Search Traffic Avg. Visit Duration is 1:59 Could the low duration time be affecting our website rankings?
