Homepage is deindexed in Google
-
We recently noticed that our primary page was de-indexed in Google. When looking in google search console there are no manual actions taken.
We did add a few new banners to the site but I have no idea why this would have negatively affected that site.
I did add a new page called https://enleaf.com/company/testimonials/ that had some duplicate testimonials that were also on the home page but have since removed that.
Not sure where to go from here.

Glad you found the culprit. I was going to mention that this was probably it. If Googlebot sees noindex anywhere on the page it can cause the whole page to be deindexed. Sometimes it's really tricky to find as well.

As much as I can

I'm glad it was an easy fix. I was freaking out!! Thanks for the help.

Wow. Weird.
-
Nah, third-party scripts, especially Twitter ones wouldn't affect that. Quite strange situation.
Well, request fetch again, and then submit to google. Should work.
-
Ah ha. Looks like that was it. That widget was pulling from a CDN that has a noindex tag in it. Removed that widget and I'm back!

I did notice a script that has a no index. I wonder if that is part of it. I think that belongs to a social media widget.

what happens when you fetch within GSC?
-
I just discovered this last night when checking our rankings. The home page changes were done late last week so I'm not sure why only now those would effect that.
-
Howdy.
That is quite bizarre. I don't see anything wrong with code, headers or anything like that. When did you discover the problem? I wonder if you guys did something and fixed it without realizing, or the Google Search Console haven't updated the manual action yet.
Also, what happens if you do fetch as google on index page?

Homepage has dropped out of search results
As of 9/12, my homepage has dropped out of the SERPs. If you google my business name (Sumy Designs) it shows other pages in my site, my Facebook page, etc, but not the homepage. My sitelinks are gone too. It IS still indexed, which you can see if you do site:sumydesigns.com I had been ranking for about 15 keywords that have all been lost since my homepage has disappeared. Here's what I know: There are no manual actions. The homepage is still being indexed, it's just not showing up for any keywords, even my brand Nothing has changed in terms of content, I have been a near daily blogger for several years There's no indication of a problem in search console The drop only appears to be affecting desktop searches, mobile search it still shows up which seems pretty weird. I would love any ideas as to what could be causing this disappearance.

Stuck trying to deindex pages from google
Hi There, We had developers put a lot of spammy markups in one of our websites. We tried many ways to deindex them by fixing it and requesting recrawls... However, some of the URLs that had these spammy markups were incorrect URLs - redirected to the right version, (ex. same URL with or without / at the end) so now all the regular URLs are updated and clean, however, the redirected URLs can't be found in crawls so they weren't updated, and couldn't get the spam removed. They still show up in the serp. I tried deindexing those spammed pages by making then no-index in the robot.txt file. This seemed to be working for about a week, and now they showed up again in the serp Can you help us get rid of these spammy urls? edit?usp=sharing

Google.com
Hi We are managing a .com site for a client working on getting the site ranking. The site is hosted in the US. The content is rich, deep and unique. The site is in a competitive market but had begun ranking top 50 for a selection of keywords and we could see many more in the top 100. The site is now going backwards and only has a few keywords ranking top 50 and all the others have disappeared from the rankings all together. Any thought as to what could cause this. The site is managed from the Uk but as mentioned is hosted in the US. No penguin issues as all content unique, rich, relevant and fresh. SEO is also managed from the UK. Thoughts

Site being indexed by Google before it has launched
We are currently coming towards the end of migrating one of our retail sites over to magento. To our horror, we find out today that some pages are already being indexed by Google, and we have started receiving orders through new site. Do you have any suggestions for what may have caused this? Or similarly, what the best solution would be to de-index ourselves? We most recently excluded anything with a certain parameter from robots.txt - could this being implemented incorrectly have caused this issue? Thanks

How a google bot sees your site
So I have stumbled across various websites like this: http://www.smart-it-consulting.com/internet/google/googlebot-spoofer/ The concept here is to be able to view your site as a googlebot sees it. However, the results are a little puzzling. Google is reading the text on my page but not the title tags according to the results. Are websites like this accurate OR does Google not read title tags and H1 tags anymore? Also on a slighly related note. I noticed the results show the navigation bar is being read first by google, is this bad and should the navigation bar be optimized for keywords as well? If it did, it would read a bit funny and the "humans" would be confused.

Google Pake Rank of Zero?
Hi! We've been running our website www.opzeggen.nl for a while now, but we still have a google page rank of 0. Searching for a keyword like 'opzeggen' does give us good ranking however. Should I be worried about this? And if so, is there a way to fix this? Best Regards, Pieter
