Please help me figure out if my website is penalized? It is not in the search result page for the phrase that is original to it.
-
I just searched Google for the phrase that is original to my website (yourappliancerepairla.com
"LG actually has a very large and well respected home appliances business", and Google didn't bring my website at all. Does this mean that my website is penalized?
-
Thank you!
-
Oh okay. Thanks!
-
Yes, I see it too.
-
Not at all. "LG actually has a very large and well respected home appliances business" is returning http://www.yourappliancerepairla.com/lg-repair-los-angeles.php in both Google.co.uk and Google.com. If you're not seeing it, try carrying out the search in a Private/Incognito browser window.
I hope that helps.

Website ranking on Google dropping for unknown reason while rankings are improving on Bing. Please help!
one of my websites www.resumeble.com is showing a constant drop in rankings. Earlier the website was ranking for major keywords like resume writing services etc. I used Ahrefs site audit to find issues. According to Ahrefs there was a huge issue of duplicate pages, which is now resolved by proper canonical tag insertion. The site is built on Angular. Fetch report in Google shows perfect code and Sitemap is also perfect. Manual action reporting in webmaster shows no warning. Please suggest what steps should I take to fix this issue.

Inurl: search shows results without keyword in URL
Hi there, While doing some research on the indexation status of a client I ran into something unexpected. I have my hypothesis on what might be happing, but would like a second opinion on this. The query 'site:example.org inurl:index.php' returns about 18.000 results. However, when I hover my mouse of these results, no index.php shows up in the URL. So, Google seems to think these (then duplicate content) URLs still exist, but a 301 has changed the actual goal URL? A similar things happens for inurl:page. In fact, all the 'index.php' and 'page' parameters were removed over a year back, so there in fact shouldn't be any of those left in the index by now. The dates next to the search results are 2005, 2008, etc. (i.e. far before 2013). These dates accurately reflect the times these forums topic were created. Long story short: are these ~30.000 'phantom URLs' in the index out of total of ~100.000 indexed pages hurting the search rankings in some way? What do you suggest to get them out? Submitting a 100% coverage sitemap (just a few days back) doesn't seem to have any effect on these phantom results (yet).

Can I use high ranking sites to push my competitors out of the first page of search results?
I'm looking at a bunch of long tail low traffic keywords that aren't difficult to rank for. As I was idly doing a boring task my mind wandered and I thought.... Why don't I ask lots of questions about these keywords on sites such as Moz, Quora, Reddit etc where the high DA will get them to rank for the search term? The results on a SEO site or Q&A site won't be relevant and so I'd starve my competitors of some of their leads. Of course I'm not sure the effort would be worth it but would it work? (and no, none of my long tail keywords are included in this post)

Searching on root domain words = ranking on > page 10 in SERP
Hello, Our website wingmancondoms.com (a new condom brand) is not ranking in Google on the keywords "wingman condom", and I don't know why. In Yahoo and Bing everything is allright. I saw on this forum that it is maybe best to change my language URL's to wingmancondoms.com/nl /de and /fr instead of a direct URL like http://www.wingmancondoms.com/wingman-kondome (german translation). But is this our problem or are there more problems. Google is indexing our page well, no errors etc. Any other possibilities?

Ecommerce website: Product page setup & SKU's
I manage an E-commerce website and we are looking to make some changes to our product pages to try and optimise them for search purposes and to try and improve the customer buying experience. This is where my head starts to hurt! Now, let's say I am selling a T shirt that comes in 4 sizes and 6 different colours. At the moment my website would have 24 products, each with pretty much the same content (maybe differing references to the colour & size). My idea is to change this and have 1 main product page for the T-shirt, but to have 24 product SKU's/variations that exist to give the exact product details. Some different ways I have been considering to do this: a) have drop-down fields on the product page that ask the customer to select their Tshirt size and colour. The image & price then changes on the page. b) All product 24 product SKUs sre listed under the main product with the 'Add to Cart' open next to each one. Each one would be clickable so a page it its own right. Would I need to set up a canonical links for each SKU that point to the top level product page? I'm obviously looking to minimise duplicate content but Im not exactly sure on how to set this up - its a big decision so I need to be 100% clear before signing off on anything. . Any other tips on how to do this or examples of good e-commerce websites that use product SKus well? Kind regards Tom

Can I put the tag in the MasterPage of my ASP.NET website or does this need to be specific to each page?
Hi Moz Community, I am a designer/junior SEO'er and have been working with our web developer to setup SEO oriented redirects and the rel canonical tag on our ASP.NET page running MasterPages - www.tisbest.org. I know setting up an incorrect canonical tag can be devastating so I'm hoping for some guidance. Can we put the <title> </span>Charity Gift Cards | Donation Gift Ideas | TisBest Philanthropy</p> <p style="color: #5e5e5e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal;"><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"> </span></p> <p style="color: #5e5e5e; font-family: Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; line-height: normal;"><span style="color: #5e5e5e;"></title> Thanks! Magento CMS Block Issue --- Help Please
Good Morning, We have a Magento shopping cart based site running on RedHat version of Linux. We had a CMS block created for the homepage of http://goo.gl/JgK1e designed to be visible only on the homepage only and nowhere else. We copied the entire site structure onto a new URL http://goo.gl/XUH3f . (this one running on CentOS) and have an odd situation on our hands... Even though the CMS block “static_after_footer_block” is “enabled”, it either completely disappears (moments later), or whenever it does display, it is visible in ALL levels of the site (not just the homepage it was designed for) Other than this anomaly, the site seems to be operating correctly… Anyone out there with some insight? Thanks!
