Anyone have problems with over reporting from PPC?
-
Hi All,
Hoping somebody can help me out with this...I am getting a lot of slack from my boss over this.
So we use Marketo for landing page creation. I create unique landing pages for PPC so that people who come in via ppc are the only people that see these landing pages. I put the google adwords conversion code on the thank you pages of these pages. So User sees PPC add > clicks add and gets sent to a registration page > fills out reg page and gets sent to thank you page that contains conversion code.
When I look in adwords, I am seeing that for this specific campaign that I had 15 conversions yesterday...in marketo I am seeing 0 conversions. I do not know which one to believe.
Anyone have any ideas?
Pat

Right, that is my hunch as well. But Marketo tracks a conversion as a form fillout. So if somebody reaches the reg page and fills out the form, and reaches the thank you page it should record a conversion in marketo and google analytics.

I haven't used Marketo before so I need to ask - how does Marketo track conversions? Is the Marketo tracking code on the landing page thank you pages?
I would trust that the AdWords conversion tracking code is telling the truth as long as you only have the AdWords conversion tracking code on the Thank You page and not on any other page. AdWords won't count conversions unless a user came from AdWords and successfully viewed the page that had the conversion tracking code, so that's why I believe the 15 conversions is correct and something is not set up correctly with the Marketo conversion tracking.

Viability of PPC for Competitive Keywords?
My company is a commercial real estate agency in New York City that helps businesses acquire office space. We are thinking of running a PPC campaign on Google Adwords. However our targeted keywords can cost up to $30 each. Perhaps we can spend $2,000 to $3,000 per month. Is there any way to predict if this campaign would be cost effective? If only 1 out of 15 site visitors generated by the PPC campaign contacts our firm, and one out of ten of those is a viable prospect, and we close with one out of five of those, it would mean that it would cost 750 clicks per transaction. If an average click is $20, that means that we would need to spend $15,000 per transaction. Our average commission is $20,000. So this is very marginal. Is my calculation overlooking something? A few keywords we would be competing on are the following: Manhattan office space rates

Manhattan office space for lease
Rental office Manhattan
Midtown office space for rent
Office space for lease nyc I might ad that we are competing against huge companies like Loopnet, Weworks, Regus, and several large real estate brokerages and landlords. Also, many of PPC visitors are running office space like searches when they are looking for shared executive office suites with very short term leases. This is not our market, we are seeking tenants that need their own demised space for a lease term of at least 3 years. Is there any way PPC can filter out clicks so we don't pay for visits from the executive office suite market? The site that we would be marketing is www.metro-manhattan.com Thanks,

Is anyone aware of stats stating how many people abandon pages the deeper they get in a site?
For example, let's say someone enters via a landing page, and instead of having a form there is a button to a form. What percentage of people will click the button and fill out the form vs if the form was right there on the page? Basically, I am trying to figure out what percentage of users do websites lose for every click a user makes on the site.

HELP: Analysing data to make decisions, SEO vs PPC
Hi mozers! I have recently been seeing good results in the serps lately for my main keywords in my country NZ, now I'm seeing good results in Australia for these keywords and our USA domain is not far behind and making good progress... However, our NZ results show that we may get around 1 conversion every 3 days from our organic search. I read other places that click share for ppc was much higher, but there is no way we can match our competitors budgets from 3k - 300k per month. So our option was to focus on SEO. To me, the SEO results seem quiet low, however I'm not really sure how to go about diving deep into the analytics of it all to find out where I need to improve or focus on, which keywords are bringing these conversions. Maybe I need to go for long tail keywords etc... It seems my rankings are coming from general keywords which are still highly competitive, but even so, we are not performing to what I know we should be. Our competitors are mostly paying ppc, however I was told my ROI would be better spent via SEO. Any suggestions perhaps what I might be missing or doing wrong in this case. (I have recently done a new design overhaul with a new registration process) I have 3 top level domains you can see the site here http://bit.ly/1yhz96v

Does Anyone have tips or resources for Adwords Re-targeting Campaigns?
Hey everyone, I have a retargetting campaign with a 0.09% CTR, a 1.04% conversion rate, and a fairly high Cost per conversion. I was wondering if anyone has any tips, resources, ideas, etc. as to how to improve our campaign? Links to external resources would be great. Thank you!

Has anyone heard about Facebook's Revenue Problems? Duh right. Well have you seen how they are losing money yet?!?!
So about a year ago now (maybe more/less), Facebook changed the way their ads are displayed. On the desktop version of Facebook (for me at least), the Sponsored ads in the right sidebar display anywhere between 3 and 7 ads at a time. Well in the case of 7 ads, that is a lot of ads to look at and read through. All seems pretty ok right?? Well, here is the problem. I cannot tell you how many times I have seen an ad that interests me, and then read through the others below them, then before I can go back to click on the one that interested me, the ads automatically refresh, and I don't get to click on the ad. Maybe they figure that by refreshing ads, it gets them more chances to catch your interest, and that the value of that is higher than the value of me getting to click what I wanted. (It kinda upset me honestly. I thumbs down things that tease me.) Either way, they could have both. My solution? A small button that you can click to view the ads that were previously displayed. (imagine how much money that could bring them. Especially if I saw the ad yesterday, left the window open for 24 hours with the computer on, and just sat there clicking until i found it. You are BOUND to find MORE ads that interest you, and click on those too.) ((ok, ok, ok, maybe 24 hours is a little ridiculous, but at least SOME amount of time and a button is necessary)) If we were really going to build a marketing playground, then we could also throw in a "More Like This" button. It would open the doors to some AMAZING data. Full to the brim with advertisement related feedback coming happily from your users. When you are talking about positioning your brand, it doesn't get much more important than to talk to them while they are enjoying themselves. (i.e. they click button, and next page has 10 links. you show the links, based on how many times people are clicking them. Not to mention, when you are that big, you can look at the value of what they do immediately after, the next day, and even the next week, and really tell what is the most valueable add, in terms of egagement, and further CTRs and Conversions for later in your relationship ) Anyways, I thought everyone would find that interesting, and hopefully it would inspire some people to get analytical with their thoughts today. Do you think that Facebook could use some conversion rate optimization? Do you think that Facebook could be doing more than they are to make more money? Do you think that Facebook (being such a powerful site), could make a lot of money by implementing an SEO/Content strategy?
