SEO Friendly Facets
-
Hi
I'm still stuck on the subject if SEO friendly facets.
Firstly, is it worth investing time in over things like SEO campaigns/content marketing as I'm the only one working on SEO and trying to prioritise all tasks
Can I set up facets so they are SEO friendly - should they simply be blocked? my concern is wasting crawl budget and duplicate pages.
Here's an example of a page on the site - https://www.key.co.uk/en/key/lift-tables
Here's an example of a facet URL - https://www.key.co.uk/en/key/lift-tables#facet:-1002779711011711697110,-700000000000001001651484832107103,-700000000000001057452564832109109&productBeginIndex:0&orderBy:5&pageView:list&
What would be the best course of action to take to make them SEO friendly?
Tips would be appreciated

Hi
This is really helpful thank you, I think at the moment I'd rather keep them from being crawled as the pages aren't helpful for crawlers. I will look into it in future if required.
Thanks very much!

Hi Becky! Did Jake's response help answer your question? If it did, please mark as "good answer" to close it out. Thanks!

I would not suggest working to get all of your facets indexed unless you can take steps to ensure quality and unique content is presented. For example, the facet you provided shows the products filtered by load capacity, lift, etc. If all of your facets were crawled and indexed, you would end up with a large number of pages that simply have a single product listed, which would in turn compete with your single product page.
Additionally, as you are not adding any additional unique content onto the page to further highlight the facets that are selected.. for example "These lift tables are rated with lift capacity for 300kg and 500kg with a 480mm width." .. I doubt you would see any improved rankings or traffic as a result of indexing these facets.
Lastly, I'm not aware that the URL structure you have provided for the facets is actually navigable by search engines at this point. the # in the url typically creates a "break" in the url, with the crawlers parsing the content before, but after. This isn't to say that it isn't a work in progress or that crawler behavior would change (read: spiders get js now, flash, etc.). But if you want those urls to get crawled, I would suggest implementing pushstate to force seo friendly urls for each facet.. alternatively you could look at a solution leveraging the ? instead of # and = instead of : so the facets appear as query parameters.
Is it worth your time? Depends on whether you think you faceted pages have enough value and weighting that they could rank alone. It is also worth considering whether or not your faceted navigation is allowing for crawling of the paginated pages, therefore allowing full crawl/index of all of your products vs. only those available on the first page.
Good luck!

What recommendations do you have for the SEO of this site?
Hello, Could you glance at this site and let me know if you see anything we could improve upon? www.nlpca.com A couple of notes: We're over-optimized for the term "NLP" on the home page. We're removing the footer links soon. We have 2 locations: San Francisco, CA and Salt Lake City, UT. Our main keyword is "NLP Training" but we would like to rank higher for the keyword "NLP". Also note that we're completely white hat, but we have international site-wide backlinks, and a couple of site-wide backlinks in site's footers - all friends and colleagues of ours.

SEO for interior page
Is it possible to be penalized on an interior page but not the whole website? Here's why I ask, I have a page: www.thesandiegocriminallawyer.com/domestic-violence.html that is not ranking well (p. 21 of Google) while the rest of the site ranks well (b/w p.1 to p.3). I checked the link profile in opensiteexplorer, ahrefs, and majesticseo but can't find any problems. I have also checked the HTML code, CSS, keyword optimization, but can't find any problems there either. Can anyone give me insight into why this might be happening? Of course, I'm working under the assumption that this page SHOULD be ranked higher for "San Diego Domestic Violence Attorney" - at least higher than page 21.

Internal Linking for better seo
On our site http://villasdiani.com we have a blog called Kenya news, which is a category where we regular post articles. I am always creating external links to the category Kenya news so as it would pass juice to the posts in it and the posts have back links to category. There are no internal links among posts in the category. As our main target is to rent beach villas and boutique hotels, each of that posts in the category Kenya news has only a link either to category with beach villas or to category with boutique hotels. My question is, if this is good practice?, is it just not too much links going to categories to beach villas and boutique hotels form the Kenya news?

Are dropdown menus bad for SEO
I have an ecommerce shop here: http://m00.biz/UHuGGC I've added a submenu for each major category and subcategory of items for sale. There are over 60 categories on that submenu. I've heard that loading this (and the number of links) before the content is very bad for SEO. Some will place the menu below the content and use absolute positioning to put the menu where it currently is now. It's a bit ridiculous in doing things backwards and wondering if search engines really don't understand. So the question is twofold: (1) Are the links better in a bottom loading sidemenu where they are now? (2) Given the number of links (about 80 in total with all categories and subcategories), is it bad to have the sidemenu show the subcategories which, in this instance, are somewhat important? Should I just go for the drilldown, e.g. show only categories and then show subcategories after? Truth is that users probably would prefer the dropdown with all the categories and second level subcategories, despite the link number and placement.

Do 404 Errors hurt SEO ?
I recently did a crawl test and it listed over 10,000 pages, but around 282 of them generated 404 errors (bad links) I'm wondering how much this hurts overall SEO and if its something I should focus on fixing asap ? Thanks.

Does font size affect SEO?
In the eyes of Google, would the font text size of say a news article affect SEO? For example, a slightly larger font being easier to read by those with bad eyes? Accessibility? If so, what size would be ideal? 10, 12, 14? Your thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
