Why is Indeed.com traffic appearing as organic in Google Analytics?
-
A large number of sessions in my client's Google Analytics account appear to come from medium: organic and source:Indeed. Since I'm focused on SEO for this project, I'd prefer that Indeed be treated as referral traffic. Any ideas for fixing this issue? Also, and I'm sure the answer is no, is there a way to fix the past data in Google Analytics that has already reported Indeed as an organic medium?

It appears that Indeed.com is adding this tracking code and that it isn't being added within Google Analytics. The Indeed agent with whom I emailed said, "I reached out to my product team to confirm we can remove the token, but after removing the token you will not be able to track the organic traffic coming from Indeed through Google Analytics."
Not sure what this meant, I asked, "What is the token? What does it do? Is this token the reason that "=Indeed&utm_source=Indeed&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=Indeed" is being added to the URLs on the Indeed website? If we turn off the token, what happens? Wouldn't we still see this same traffic coming from Indeed, only included in the Google Analytics "Referrals" report instead of in the "Organic" report?"
Indeed's response: "If we turn off the token &utm_source=Indeed&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=Indeed, it will mean that we won't be able to track organic traffic coming from Indeed through Google Analytics."
Kind of vague. I'm still working on clarification, but the short answer is that Indeed is adding this tracking code and that this was not an action taken by my client within Google Analytics. My guess is that if I ask Indeed to turn off the token, the visits will appear as referral (as they should in my opinion). Hope this helps others!

In addition to the possibility Cat mentions, it's also possible someone has configured Indeed.com as an additional search engine in GA's Admin settings (Property > Tracking Info > Organic Search Sources - see screenshot next comment) As far as fixing the past data, you can't "change" it, but you could use a custom segment which filters it?
Let us know what you find!

is right probably you need to look for the source of those links

That's weird! Perhaps the client put UTM tags in for the URL that's on Indeed.com?

In Google Analytics, what is the correct format for excluding traffic from single IP address?
In the past, when we've setup a filter to exclude a single IP address, we just entered the IP address normally. For example, 64.68.82.164. However, I was researching how to exclude a range of IP addresses and found out that I might be using the wrong format to filter a single IP address. Is it supposed to be 64.68.82.164 or 64.68.82.164? Will it still work if it was entered without the escape characters? Thanks in advance Moz community for your assistance!

Tracking in Google Analytics
My site has just recently (or maybe not so recently...) had a great deal of https URL's indexed (I was really only able to find this out thanks to the recent update to the GWT Index Status). It appears that Googlebot picked up an ssl somewhere (I already know where) on my site and then proceeded to crawl and index pages with https rather than http. Since I understand the issue, it should be an easy fix. My question is, does Google Analytics support (track) both http AND https for one site, or would I need to set up two different tracking codes for http and https? I figured that I might as well grab some data from the https pages that are indexed before I try and remove them. I've done a little research on using Groupings/Groups but I figured I would reach out to the MOZ community to see if anyone else has worked with a similar issue. Thanks!

Organic traffic vs. GWT data
Hi, how are you? I'm having a question becasue of an inconsistency between the data GWT gives and the one GA gives me. When I see the ammount of clics GWT tells me in february, it says 32850. When I go to Channels --> Organic Search, it says 51014. The difference is really big! Do you happen to know why this huge gap between data?

Google Analytics tracking code for completely new website
Hello! I use Google Analytics to monitor our company's websites. In the coming weeks we will roll out a brand new website for one of our brands to replace its current site. The domain name will remain the same. My question is, should I use the same tracking code that's been used on the existing site for the new site, or is there a benefit to creating a new tracking code? Thanks in advance!

Advanced Segment on Google Analytics
Hello there, hope everyone is allright and rockin' the SEO world 🙂 Was wondering if anyone could give a tip on how to configure an 'Advanced Segment' on Google Analytics. Basically I need to isolate traffic for 4 specific subfolders. E.g. www.mywebsite.com/solutions/A www.mywebsite.com/solutions/B www.mywebsite.com/solutions/C www.mywebsite.com/solutions/D/part1 Please note that the website has more pages under the specific section. E.g www.mywebsite.com/solutions/Z www.mywebsite.com/solutions/D/part2 but I only need to isolate the 4 directories (and their own sub-folders) mentioned above. Any idea how I could do this? Thanks a lot Joe

Individual or Separate Google Analytics Accounts for Each Country Location?
We have 3 websites. USA, Germany and UK. Currently our analytics account is set up with 1 account with each domain as a Profile. I am wondering if I would see more accurate results if I have them set up individually, under the same Google account, but different Analytic accounts. The reason I wonder is because I noticed when I was going through setting this up, it asked for each Country Time Zone for each domain. I was not sure if this was for me to see the times, or if this was to provide more accurate data. Maybe this is just a personal preference topic?

Ok, I need help with a simple (although, for some reason, I'm having trouble with it) advanced segment. Dilemma**:** All of our techs have a backend cookie that they use to log into our website. So how can I set up an advanced segment where it will exclude any visit where the visitor came in one a landing page containing /backend/cookie.php?username=
