Google Analytics - Keywords (not set) or ( not provided) WHY???
-
In Analytics, most of my visitors are landing on my home page, but when trying to see wich keywords they use, most of them are:
(not set) or ( not provided)
See screencast:
http://screencast.com/t/AKwPW76qLVsN
Can you tell why? What is going on? Is there a way to solve this?
Thank you,
BigBlaze

Salut Jean,
I can say my Adword account is link to G.A. because my campaign ''filtre fournaise_2'' has 359 visitors...
Do you manually tag your campaigns? As per Analytics support and from experience, human error in tagging is often the most common source of errors:
- Auto and manual tagging are being used at the same time
- Manually tagged URLs are missing a parameter
I recommend you use auto-tagging otherwise you will spend hours of entertainement coding urls for each kwd... Fun, Fun, Fun
You do have gaq.push(['_trackPageview'] so I doubt this is the cause of the error and since it's a big commerce site, I can only assume the code will be implemented at a template level.
Hope this help.
Cheers,
Freddy
P.S: if you feel like being "stalkish", remember to update your GA code for Remarketing

Hi Patrick,
Thank you for this response.
I have one more question, looking at my screen cast:
http://screencast.com/t/GDpNp0PE
This is the result to the landing page to ''index''
1099 visitors are ( not set)
I can say my Adword account is link to G.A. because my campaign ''filtre fournaise_2'' has 359 visitors...
Can you say they are all user that use ''private browsing'' option from there browser? or other?
Thank you,
Jean

(not set) keywords are usually visits from a Google AdWords campaign where the Google AdWords account is not correctly linked to the Google Analytics account. http://support.google.com/analytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=2820717 and http://support.google.com/analytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1714454
(not provided) keywords are organic searches from Google but are being hidden from your website since Google is encrypting searches from users who are logged into Google or otherwise using the secure version of Google.
The good news is that you should be able to fix the (not set) issue but unfortunately you won't be able to do much regarding the (not provided) keywords.
EDIT - (not set) could also mean visits from all other traffic sources, such as Direct or Referral sites, which inherently are not coming from keyword searches and that is why (not set) is showing up in Google Analytics if you try to look up the keyword used by either of those mediums.

Why is Indeed.com traffic appearing as organic in Google Analytics?
A large number of sessions in my client's Google Analytics account appear to come from medium: organic and source:Indeed. Since I'm focused on SEO for this project, I'd prefer that Indeed be treated as referral traffic. Any ideas for fixing this issue? Also, and I'm sure the answer is no, is there a way to fix the past data in Google Analytics that has already reported Indeed as an organic medium?

Google Analytics - Organic Search Traffic & Queries -What caused the huge difference?
Our website traffic dropped a little bit during the last month, but it's getting better now, almost the same with previous period. But our conversion rate dropped by 50% for the last three weeks. What could cause this huge drop in conversion rate? In Google Analytics, I compared the Organic Search Traffic with previous period, the result is similar. But the Search Engine Optimization ->Queries shows that the clicks for last month is almost zero. What could be the cause of this huge differnce? e9sJNwD.png k4M8Fa5.png

Can you track two Google Analytics Accounts on one site?
If you have a site that had an old analytics account and then implemented a new one is it possible to run tracking code that records to both accounts without causing your site or data issues? We are doing this so we don't loose data at any point - ideally it wouldn't have been split between the two but making one redundant isn't an option. Ideally we would have merged the data from both accounts and had one - however the research we have done points to this not being a possibility - unless one of you guys knows different? It would be great if anyone has experience on any this.. Thanks

Is there a way to find out who the admin of a Google Analytics account is?
We have a client who has been searching high and low to gain access to the GA account that is tied to their website, but previous agencies keep stating they don't have access. Is there a way to find out who the admins are on a GA account with the tracking number so we can reach out to that person and ask them to admin the client?

Google Analytics Real Time Not Working! :(
Hello Everyone, Today, the real time feature in my google analytics stopped working. I am able to see that traffic is visiting my site, but not in real time. The real time count is usually at 0. But, there are some instances where real time will come back online, but there will be only 1 unique visitor. At any given time, our website usually has 20 visitors or so..Has anyone encountered this issue? Where should i start looking for fixes? What are the possible problems? Thanks!

Is it possible to use Google Tag Manager to pass a user’s text input into a form field to Google analytics?
Hey Everyone, I finally figured out how to use auto event tracking with Google Tag Manager, but didn't get the data I wanted. I want to see what users are typing into the search field on my site (the URL structure of my site isn't set up properly to use GA's built-in site search tracking). So, I set up the form submit event tracking in Google Tag Manager and used the following as my event tracking parameters: Category: Search Action: Search Value When I test and look in Google Analytics I just see: "search" and "search value." I wanted to see the text that I searched on my site. Not just the Action and Category of the event.... Is what I'm trying to do even possible? Do I need to set up a different event tracking parameter? Thanks everyone!
