Keyword Ranking Report is Different than Real Result on Google
-
Hi Guys,
I am getting MOZ reports on a few keywords and that is good But when My client search for the same keywords he doesn't get the same rank, not even on that page.Let me explain in more details:
I have a keyword that shows on rank #5 in Google Mobile for a Local location for the current week. The client is from the same location as well. But when client search for that keyword from his mobile he doesn't get the keyword listed on that page, not even on other pages. I checked with other online keyword rank checker tool and all are showing the result similar to the Moz ranking report. It's really frustrating for my client.Google analytics shows that mobile users and organic reach are increasing so I am sure MOZ and other tools are showing us correct result.
What could be the possible reason that he is not getting the same result as showing by MOZ?
I am not from his location so how can I check the keyword result for the selected city using MOZ that is accurate?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Please help.
Thanks

Keyword ranking report might be different than real because of several reasons like personalized search results, location-based differences, and fluctuating search algorithms.
While doing keyword research always clear your cache, use incognito mode, and ensure consistent location settings when verifying keyword rankings -

Je trouve que google est la base organique la plus fondamentale je n'ai aucune comparaison en matière de vérification de rapport de classement de mots clés

Hey! Dave from the Help Team here,
Most discrepancies in keyword rankings are caused by the way Moz is querying Google and other search engines. Our process completely strips personalization from the query. This means that it's more representative of a national average for all searchers in the country, but it also means that you may not be able to reproduce these exact SERPs within your browser because your location is factored into your search results.
One of the SEO experts in our community offered a really great explanation of this difference here.
If you are seeing some big discrepancies that don't seem to make sense to you, please shoot us an email at help@moz.com with some examples, we would be happy to take a look for you!
thanks

Thanks NgEF for your quick response. I've advised him to clean the cache and see the rankings in Incognito mode and with location set to local. I hope it will help him to get the exact ranking that MOZ is showig to us.
THanks

Hi KanikaG,
The difference in rankings can be due to several different reasons. Moz's crawlers are pretty accurate in my experience but I've usually got to make sure that the settings are correct.
How is your client checking the rankings? If the client is simply opening up a browser tab and Googling the keywords for example. they might get an inaccurate ranking, especially if they've visited competing sites before. The reason for this is simply their search/browser history. If they visited a site before, even more so if they searched for a keyword then clicked into the competing site. The best way to get a 'clean' read on the rankings is to simply open up an incognito window (if they're using Chrome), or a new private window (for Firefox). That way, their cookies/browsing history/previous queries don't influence what they are seeing in the search result pages.
Hope this helps!

Keyword explorer and relevancy
Hello, In the keyword explorer when I group keywords by lexical similarity should I only choose keywords that have a high relevancy to my seed keyword (the one I typed and want to rank on ? Let me give you an example. Let's say my seed keyword (the one I want to rank on) is "Alsace bike tours. With the keyword explorer I group the keywords and find the group " cycling in Alsace" (ok I take that one because it relevant to "Alsace bike tours" then I find "Strasbourg to Colmar by bike" I also take this one because it is also relevant to "alsace bike tours" but what about concepts like "Alsace wine region", Alsatian architecture, wines of Alsace, cuisine of Alsace or prettiest villages in Alsace... should I totally dismiss those from my content because they aren't relevant to my keyword "Alsace bike tours" or is it ok to use them but it won't help me at all ? Thank you,

Why is on-demand crawl reporting numbers that are very different than the regualr site crawl by Moz?
When I look at the site crawl available through my dashboard, it reports 22.9K pages crawled. I just ran a on-demand crawl and it is only reporting 6K pages crawled. Why is the number so much lower?

Moz Crawl Report Increase in Errors?
Has anyone else noticed a huge increase over the past couple weeks in crawl issues in their dashboards? Without being able to see historical data week over week, I can't tell what's been added. Is this some update with the tool? I'm not seeing any health issues with this feature on the Moz Health page, it just seems strange that I'm seeing this across all our accounts.

Well from the looks of it I have already done this but I want to make sure that im checking the right thing. What does it mean when it says document text as I assumed it was text on the page but its not reading it as that. Any feedback would be appreciated

Fresh Web Explorer: if you put a keyword in quotes, is it case sensitive?
For example, would a saved search for "racor fuel filter" capture mentions of "Racor fuel filter"? I'm really hoping I don't have to duplicate the keywords with the alternative capitalisations!! Many thanks Steve

National or local tracking of keywords
I manage an account with +20 locations and have used the default National tracking on keywords, but realized that we might see higher rankings if I choose local tracking. If any of you have any experience in this, please tell the world!

Rank Tracker page shows only first 50 entries
On the Rank Tracker tool page, http://moz.com/researchtools/rank-tracker, when I hit the Next 25 it works the first time but none of the others. Trying to run a report and since we have more than 50 keywords I have to manually click on them to be checked.
