One Article, Multiple(Same Keyword) Anchors, Same Urls
-
Hey Folks,
So I have a 1000 word articles talking about say Dubai Holiday. Is it okay to have 4-5 Dubai Holiday as anchor linked to the same page. Or it should be only be used once.

Thanks a ton John!!!
Merry Christmas and Happy New year in Advance.

Hey there! Thanks for the clarification. As I said before, I wouldn't do this. It's an outdated SEO practice which was popular in the mid 2000's.
Thanks!
John

Same page multiple times with same anchor.

Happy to help! Just so I understand:
You wrote a blog post that's optimized for "Switzerland Holiday Package" and you want to link to another page on the site or the same page?
Thanks
John

Forgot to mention I was talking about a Blog Post on our Company Blog.
How do I go about it if its a Blog Post talking about say Switzerland Holiday package.
Is it recommended to include 3-4 Links to the same landing page using "Switzerland Holiday package" Anchor 3-4 times. Or only linking it once is enough.

Hey there! If the keyword that you are targeting is Dubai Holiday, here's how I would optimize the page:
1. Use the Google Keyword Planner tool to identify 3-4 other close phrases to use within the article.
2. Use the main keyword (Dubai Holiday) in the meta title or page title
3. Use other phrases in the meta keyword description
4. Incorporate the keyword Dubai Holiday into the
5. Uitlize the other phrases within the copy (make sure to use
's and
's too) instead of just focusing on Dubai Holiday (you may be doing this already)
I wouldn't link to the text to the same page URL. That was a strategy used in the late 2000's but it's not used anymore (in my opinion).
I hope that helps!

Different content on pages with the same URL--except one is at www and the other at www2
Hi! I have two pages with unique content on each. However, they have virtually the same URL--except one is a www and the other is a www2. As far as I know, both pages were meant to gain organic traction. How should this situation be handled for SEO purposes? Thanks for any help! ---Ivey

Website Re-Launch - New URLS / Old URL WMT
Hello... We recently re-launched website with a new CMS (Magento). We kept the same domain name, however most of the structure changed. We were diligent about inputting the 301 redirects. The domain is over 15 years old and has tons of link equity and history. Today marks 27 days since launch...And Google Webmaster Tools showed me a recently detected (dated two days ago) URL from the old structure. Our natural search traffic has take a slow dive since launch...Any thoughts? Some background info: The old site did not have a sitemap.xml. The relaunched site does. Thanks!

Url structure of a blog
We are trying to work out what the best structure for our blog is as we want each page to rank as highly as possible, we were looking at a flat structure similar to http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/ where every posts is after the blog/ but not in category's although the viewers can look in different category's from the top buttons on the page- photoshop - icons etc or we where going to go for the structured way- blog/photoshop/blog-post.html the only problem is that we will end up 4 deep at least with this and at least 80 characters in the url. any help would be appreciated. Thanks Shaun

Duplicate Titles caused by multiple variations of same URL

www.abc.com/?b=123 www.abc.com/ www.abc.com/?b=654 www.abc.com/?b=875 www.abc.com/index.html What can I do to stop this issue being reported as duplictae Titles, as well as content? I was thinking maybe I can use Robots.txt to block various query string parameters. I'm Open to ideas and examples.0 -
Worth removing keywords...?
I was just going over a site I manage and noticed it had a load of meta keywords on it. Probably 10-15 keywords per page... Do you think this is harming the site? Is it worth removing them?

Duplicate content throughout multiple URLs dilemma
We have a website with lots of categories and there are problems that some subcategories have identical content on them. So, is it enough to just add different text on those problematic subcategories or we need to use "canonical" tag to main category. Same dilemma is with our search system and duplicate content. For example, "/category/sports" URL would have similar to identical content with "/search/sports" and "/search/sports-fitness/" URLs. Ranking factors is important for all different categories and subcategories. Ranking factors is also important for search individual keywords. So, the question is, how to make them somehow unique/different to rank on all those pages well? Would love to hear advices how it can be solved using different methods and how it would affect our rankings. When we actually need to use "canonical" tag and when 301 redirect is better. Thanks!

URL for New Product
Hi, We are creating a section on our established existing website to display our new marketplace product & associated category pages. This marketplace will be a section of the site where our users can sell online training courses that they've created. It will be branded on our site as the Marketplace. Is it important to include 'marketplace' in the URL? Or would it be better to include a relevant keyword such as 'training-courses' instead? Or both? I've assumed I shouldn't use both as that would increase the length of the URLs and number of subfolders.

Strategies in Renaming URLs
We're renaming all of our Product URLs (because we're changing eCommerce Platforms), and I'm trying to determine the best strategy to take. Currently, they are all based on product SKUs. For example, Bacon Dental Floss is: http://www.stupid.com/fun/BFLS.html Right now, I'm thinking of just using the Product name. For example, Bacon Dental Floss would become: http://www.stupid.com/fun/bacon-dental-floss.html Is this strategy the best for SEO? Any better ideas? Thanks!
