Redirect chain being flagged in Moz
-
I have a redirect chain being flagged in Moz, this is the first time I have come across this, and Im convinced its causing an issue, the site is performing very badly. I have attached screen grabs of the redirect chain. and the site is cotswold flat roofing
Is this redirect chain causing me an issue, and what is the best practice for getting it fixed or removed, the site currenly does not even show up in Google even when searching for its won brand, I removed an x robot noindex a week ago, and now the only issue that I can see is this redirect chain

Looking a little further, you only have 2 redirect hops. As I said earlier, there is no big of an issue. And, you won't get any improvement in rankings, nor will impact your crawling (you only have 1 page).
It looks like you have 2 different rules:
1- http:// -> https://
2- non-www -> wwwI don't think that your hosting provider will help you with these redirects. You'd have to do it yourself via .htaccess file.
Here you have the htaccess documentation, if you want to know more.Hope it helps.
Best luck.

Muchas Gracias Gaston.
what do you think is the best way to resolve this, as i have to ask the guy who's doing the hosting...? -
Hi Simon,
Yes, redirect chains are an issue and should be resolved. Google has said that they can handle well up to 4 redirects. When the 5th occurs, Googlebot stops crawling.
On another note, your site is indexed (check this image) and if you have removed a noindex tag recently, give google some time to process your site.A tip that could help you rank, at least for your brand name (assuming its Costwold Flat Roofing) is adding it to the H1 tag.
Hope it helps.
Best luck.
Gaston

Missing 301 redirects
I just had a developer friend call me in a panic, because they had gone live with a new site and found out (the hard way) that they had missed some pages on their 301 redirects. So the pages are appearing in Google but serving 404s. Ouch! So their question was: other than running a report for 404 errors in something like Screaming Frog, is there a way to hunt down ONLY pages serving 404s, then export to CSV so they can be redirected? Anyone got any tricks up their sleeve?

To avoid errors in our Moz crawl, we removed subdomains from our host. (First we tried 301 redirects, also listed as errors.) Now we have backlinks all over the web that are broken. How bad is this, from a pagerank standpoint?
Our MOZ crawl kept telling us we had duplicate page content even though our subdomains were redirected to our main site. (Pages from Wineracks.vigilantinc.com were 301 redirected to vigilantinc.com/wineracks.) Now, to solve that problem, we have removed the wineracks.vigilantinc.com subdomain. The error report is better, but now we have broken backlinks - thousands of them. Is this hurting us worse than the duplicate content problem?

Questions about the Sandbox and 301 Redirects
Does the sandbox still exist? What if you have a brand new URL and do a 301 redirect from another website because the name of the service business changed? Thanks for any insight and help.

301 redirect all 404 pages
Hi I would like to have a second opinion on this. I am working on an ecommerce website that they 301 redirect all 404 pages (including the URLs entered incorrectly) to the “All categories page”. Will this have any negative SEO impact?

Redirecting the .com of our site
Hey guys, A company I consult for has a different site for its users depending on the geography. Example: When a visitor goes to www.company.com if the user is from the EU, it gets redirected to http://eu.company.com If the user is from the US, it goes to http://us.company.com And so on. I have two questions: Does having a redirect on the .com will influence rankings on each specific sub-site? I suspect it will affect the .com since it will simply not get indexed but not sure if affects the sub domains. The content on this sub-sites are not different (I´m still trying to figure out why they are using the sub-domains). Will they get penalized for duplicate content? Thanks!

Where to put 301 redirects in Magento?
I will be changing the URL structure in a magento store from "base/category/subcategory/product" to "base/product" which means i have to make over 1000 URL 301 redirects so our old links still work. Should i put the redirects in a .htaccess file so they stay intact no matter what or should i just put them in with all the other rewrites (in Magento 's URL rewrite manager)? Thanks
