Website is not indexed in Google
-
Hi Guys,
I have a problem with a website from a customer. His website is not indexed in Google (except for the homepage). I could not find anything that can possibly be the cause.
I already checked the robots.txt, sitemap, and plugins on the website. In the HTML code i also couldn't find anything which makes indexing harder than usual.
This is the website i am talking about: http://www.xxxx.nl/ (Dutch)
The only thing that i am guessing now is the Google sandbox, but even that is quite unlikely.
I hope you guys discover something i could not find!
Thanks in advance

Baldea,
The domain was new indeed.
We are going to try your suggestions and hope for the best!
Fingers crossed indeed

Bastiaan,
The domain was new, right? I mean it wasn't dropped/expired etc.
Try to get a dofollow link from a relevant website that has some traffic (Google tends to index very fast such websites and outgoing resources).
Also, make sure you have a sitemap and try including a line in robots.txt:
Sitemap: http://www.wikiboedel.nl/sitemap.xml
Submit the sitemap in Google's Webmaster Tools.
If you do all these, it is impossible bot to get indexed in a few days.
Anyway, fingers crossed.

I will try the line in the robots.txt. I already created an XML sitemap which has been submitted via Google Webmaster Tools.
Thanks for helping.

Hmm, this is strange indeed. Google should follow the links on the home page and index the available subpages. 2 months should be plenty of time too. Maybe try these two things:
- Add this line to robots.txt:
Allow: / ```Even though the current robots looks in order, this specifically tells search engines to index all except the /wp-pages you excluded.
- Create an XML Sitemap (or just a manual .txt file) and submit it via GWT
This might speed it up. BTW, the site is correctly indexed in Bing.
- Add this line to robots.txt:
-
Thanks for the quick answer Baldea.
This website has been online for about 2 months now i think. It has been verified in the Google Webmaster Tools.
I also did a little linkbuilding (about 3 links) on dutch websites like www.ekudos.nl - which did not seem to help.

Hi Bestiaan,
If it was recently (1-2 weeks) created and if you used robots.txt to block search engines (when I create a website, I use to block search engines from robots.txt, until everything is working fine and only afterwards I modify the permissions) than it's normal.
Verify the website in Google's Webmaster Tools and go to the robots.txt section. You should see if that is the reason.
I see your robots.txt file is fine, you have no NOINDEX meta tag or so.
To "stimulate" the indexation process you could make some use of social media. Share a post and wait 1-2 days. Or, some relevant direct link to one of the posts.
I hope this helps.

Sitemap coming up in Google's index?
I apologize if this question's answer is glaringly obvious, but I was using Google to view all the pages it has indexed of our site--by searching for our company and then clicking the link that says to display more results for the site. On page three, it has the sitemap indexed as if it wee just another page of our site. <cite>www.stadriemblems.com/sitemap.xml</cite> Is this supposed to happen?

Can JavaScrip affect Google's index/ranking?
We have changed our website template about a month ago and since then we experienced a huge drop in rankings, especially with our home page. We kept the same url structure on entire website, pretty much the same content and the same on-page seo. We kind of knew we will have a rank drop but not that huge. We used to rank with the homepage on the top of the second page, and now we lost about 20-25 positions. What we changed is that we made a new homepage structure, more user-friendly and with much more organized information, we also have a slider presenting our main services. 80% of our content on the homepage is included inside the slideshow and 3 tabs, but all these elements are JavaScript. The content is unique and is seo optimized but when I am disabling the JavaScript, it becomes completely unavailable. Could this be the reason for the huge rank drop? I used the Webmaster Tolls' Fetch as Googlebot tool and it looks like Google reads perfectly what's inside the JavaScrip slideshow so I did not worried until now when I found this on SEOMoz: "Try to avoid ... using javascript ... since the search engines will ... not indexed them ... " One more weird thing is that although we have no duplicate content and the entire website has been cached, for a few pages (including the homepage), the picture snipet is from the old website. All main urls are the same, we removed some old ones that we don't need anymore, so we kept all the inbound links. The 301 redirects are properly set. But still, we have a huge rank drop. Also, (not sure if this important or not), the robots.txt file is disallowing some folders like: images, modules, templates... (Joomla components). We still have some html errors and warnings but way less than we had with the old website. Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you!

I have a site that has both http:// and https:// versions indexed, e.g. https://www.homepage.com/ and http://www.homepage.com/. How do I de-index the https// versions without losing the link juice that is going to the https://homepage.com/ pages?
I can't 301 https// to http:// since there are some form pages that need to be https:// The site has 20,000 + pages so individually 301ing each page would be a nightmare. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
