Huge difference in search results depending on the country?
-
I have some keywords ranking in pages 2 and 3 in the US but for instance, in Canada, the same keywords rank somewhere between pages 15 and 25.
When I check my US rankings, I use a Windows VPS located in the US. When I check my rankings in Canada, I use a computer physically located in Canada.
Basically, about 80% of my rankings have gone away for countries other than the US. I have not set any geographical target for my website in GWT.
How come there is such a big difference in search results across different countries?

One thing to note is that Google usually pushes all its updates to the US first, then if they are successful, pushes those updates to other countries.
.ca could be using some older algorithms that are easy to spam (although there is plenty of that in .com as well).

As Oleg rightly points out, there are a number of factors which can impact on your ability to rank well in different countries. To rank well in a number of countries you would need to build links from each of those countries. I suspect the bulk of your links are probably from US based sites and therefore you rank well there but no in other locations.
There are of course other factors which come into play, particularly relevance, and Google may deem your content is more relevant to a US audience than other countries.

I am fascinated by the fact that on Google.ca, I am outranked by .co.uk websites as well as really thin content sites.
7 results out of the top 10 have literally tens of thousands of spammy backlinks.
-
A lot depends on the keywords being searched and also on the backlinks the website has. G may deem your website to be better suited for a US audience (based on content, keywords and linking domains) than the Canadian audience (who's serps will contain many more .ca sites and those targeting Canada in GWT).

Bounce rate high because customer login on different domain
Years ago we switch domain names for our site for almost everything except the client log in portal. Now we are experiencing really high bounce rates because site visitors will go to our site and then click on the client log in portal which takes them off our domain and on to our old domain. Because of this our bounce rate is around 80% and I know this is negatively effecting our traffic. Is there any way to fix this without switching the domain for the client log-in portal? Thanks for everyone's help!

Export Google Search Results
I would like to export a list of pages indexed by Google and other search engines. According to our site search with google, we have over 300,000 pages indexed. Anyway to export a list of all of these pages? Tools like ScreamingFrog (which I own a copy of) can crawl your site but does not tell you the pages indexed by a search engine... I've tried using tools that will let you export each page of the results. However, this won't work for a 300K page website. Thanks for your help!

Is it possible to know if visitor arrived at the web page via organic search and if so, show some content?
Hello, Is it possible to know if visitors are arriving at a web page via organic search? Background: We have a section of job description pages to explain typical tasks. These have very high bounce rate (some 100%), and I think people are confusing them with actual jobs. For example "stage designer". Many of those keyword we have very high rankings. I am thinking of having a small notice at the top of those page to say something like "if you are stage designer job, check out our job section". Thanks

Noticed Bing UK and Yahoo UK are almost exactly the same ranking results?
I've run a few keyword ranking updates today and I've noticed that Bing UK and Yahoo UK results are almost exactly the same? This is unusual, the results for these two engines rarely tally with one another. Is anyone seeing the same?
