Is there a tool to find a strange link
-
hi, i have used screaming frog seo and it has brought up a link to another site we run but this is a strange link
the link is
http://www.in2town.co.uk/www.clairehegarty.co.uk/virtual-gastric-band-with-hypnotherapy
i have gone through the site on the home page as this is where it is and i cannot find, so i was just wondering if there was a tool that i can use to pin point where it is.
any help would be great

cheers for that. it is strange that i am looking for links on the home page which there are around 140 or so and then google is pulling links from the different sections and showing them on the home page.
will see if i can find the solution to try and reduce the link
many thanks for all your help

Using tools from SEOBook, I'm seeing 228 internal links on your homepage to your category pages and articles. They appear to be legitimate links so I wouldn't worry that there are too many though you should double-check that you don't have too many duplicate links unless they are necessary.
As for http://www.in2town.co.uk/Health Magazine, that's just an improperly encoded space though it would seem given your URL structure that it should be a dash - not a space. Once again, check Open Site Explorer and that should help you find what is linking to it.

hi mike, i have just looked at the image and found it, many thanks for this, spent hours sorting this out.
just came across another one, which i do not understand why i have a bad link like this, so will find this now.
http://www.in2town.co.uk/Health Magazine
if i can work out why i have so many links on the home page, where i am being told there are 262 when really there are only around 140.
it seems for some reason links are showing on the home page from other pages.
many thanks for all your help, should have come on here earlier and asked, would have saved myself five hours looking for the problem

That odd URL is the link in the image on the right side of your site for "lose weight today with gastric band hypnotherapy".
I used Open Site Explorer to find what pages were linking in and they all mention "(img alt) gastric" which made it easier to pinpoint where on the pages the link was coming from.

Find all external 404 errors/links?
Hi All, We have recently discovered a site was linking to our site but it was linking to an incorrect url, resulting in a 404 error. We had only found this by pure chance and wondered if there was a tool out there that will tell us when a site is linking to an incorrect url on our site? Thanks 🙂

Site-wide Links
Hey y'all, I know this question has been asked many times before but I wanted to see what your stance was on this particular case. The organisation I work for is a group of 12 companies - each with its own website. On some of the sites we have a link to the other sites within the group on every single page of that site. Our organic search traffic has dropped a bit but not significantly and we haven't received any manual penalties from Google. It's also worth mentioning that the referral traffic for these sites from the other sites I control is quite good and the bounce rate is extremely low. If you were in my shoes would you remove the links, put a nofollow tag on the links or leave the links as they are? Thanks guys 🙂

No crawl code for pages of helpful links vs. no follow code on each link?
Our college website has many "owners" who want pages of "helpful links" resulting in a large number of outbound links. If we add code to the pages to prevent them from being crawled, will that be just as effective as making every individual link no follow?

How to get rid of back links?
I would like to clear all of the links linking to us to start over fresh? Our site has become non existent on Google with no messages or warning from them through webmaster tools. From tools on here and other sources it indicates that we should be ranked ahead of our competitors or atleast comparable. We are not found under the keywords that we use to be...."parts washers" "part washer" industrial cleaning systems etc.. our site is www.vortexpartswashers.com. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Recently checked our link analysis report for 2 of our campaigns who are registered in the dir.yahoo.com (yahoo directory). For some reason, we don't see this being a domain that shows up as linking to our website - why is this?

Are multiple links devalued on the same domain?
I'm in negotiations to get links placed on a popular blog with good stats. I'm allowed to pick older posts on the site, and I get to pick the anchor text. Is it best practice to diversify the links by having different keywords pointing to different pages or am I better off pointing as many links as I can at one page (varying anchor text)? Also, is it best to pick a more recent blog post, or is it ok to pick one from say, 2009?
