Do I need to use a CNAME for wistia video hosting?
-
I'm using Wisita for video hosting. My strategy is to allow other sites to embed videos to get links - I want the video linking back to my site not wistia or the embeding site. Do I need to use the Wistia CNAME or is a wistia subdomain acceptable?

Hi Bruce,
I agree with Dana
&
I would use the C name as you will force people to your site I like the way it looks as well I do a vid.blueprintmarketing.com
as a cname for Wistia
the SEO Embed makes a sitemap so google can see your video & rank you for it.

Hope this helps,
Thomas

Hi Bruce,
We are transitioning to Wistia and have about 20 Wistia videos up on our site already. To my knowledge, it is not necessary to do anything special in order to assure that the embed code any users might copy and paste into their own sites will link directly back to your site. This is one of the biggest advantages to switching to Wistia in the first place. Here's an example URL where we have a Wistia video embedded:
http://www.ccisolutions.com/StoreFront/product/allen-heath-me-1-personal-monitor-mixer
If you click the "Embed" icon just below the video you will see an iFrame code appear for people to copy and paste if they want to share the content on their own sites. This works just like a YouTube iFrame, in that it directs the visitor directly back to the site where the video originated...in this case it would divert people directly back to your site giving you full credit for the content.
I hope that's helpful. Did I understand you question correctly? Or are you seeking to do something different with anyone who wants to embed your content? Let me know, cheers!
Dana
P.S. Here's the embed code for the above video if you want to try it out:
<iframe class="wistia_embed" name="wistia_embed" src="http://fast.wistia.net/embed/iframe/fdnz3j82q4?version=v1&videoWidth=560&videoHeight=315&volumeControl=true&controlsVisibleOnLoad=true&plugin[socialbar-v1][buttons]=embed-twitter-linkedIn-googlePlus-facebook&plugin[socialbar-v1][logo]=true&plugin[socialbar-v1][badgeUrl]=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ccisolutions.com&plugin[socialbar-v1][badgeImage]=https%3A%2F%2Fwistia.sslcs.cdngc.net%2Fdeliveries%2F39051b62d0e4f252affe3b7fe5b95279dc143941.jpg%3Fimage_crop_resized%3D100x20&plugin[captions-v1][onByDefault]=false&canonicalUrl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ccisolutions.com%2FStoreFront%2Fproduct%2Fallen-heath-me-1-personal-monitor-mixer&canonicalTitle=Allen %26 Heath ME-1 | Personal Monitor Mixer" allowtransparency="true" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" width="480" height="298"></iframe>

Already ranking high for blog, should I produce video?
I run a website with affiliate links (reviews) and successful YouTube channel. Most of the time we lost the YouTube video review and text review at the same time. I’ve created a couple posts that rank high without a video. But now they are proving to be successful, I’m wondering if it makes sense to now produce a video. If so, do I use the exact keyword? Or a variation? Only about 10% of our YouTube views come from Google Search. Most of our blog traffic is organic.

HTML5 Video - Rich Snippet Markup and Quality
Hi guys, We're trying to get Rich Snippets for videos on our pages. I feel comfortable-ish with getting this set up, but I have a few questions. I was wondering whether anyone had any experience with this? Is there any additional markup to the <video>tag to get rich snippets</video> How do you handle multiple qualities - i.e. HD? Does the ogg and mp4 file need to be included? Any help/links to articles would be really helpful. Thanks!

Videos not displaying within YouTube search results (query starting with '@' symbol)
We recently uploaded a video to YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ah0CgZ22NNU) only to realize that it wasn't being displayed within YouTube's internal search results when searched for by the brand name. Our partner's brand name is @WashULaw. If you were to search for @WashULaw on YouTube, you'll notice it returns a 'No Search Results' page (http://screencast.com/t/ZP3SGM5sr). However, when you search for keywords without the @ symbol (i.e. washulaw, wash u law, etc) within YouTube, our video is discovered. However, if you enter the @ symbol within their search bar and choose one of the auto-suggest keywords, you'll notice the query returns video matches (http://screencast.com/t/wkghMhRY). Looking at the view counts of these videos, they appear to be over 100K each. Our video has been indexed by YouTube (http://screencast.com/t/6xV3kW2DHQ6R) and Google (http://screencast.com/t/r4jloA0BpPf). We've even added @WashuLaw as a tag. My question, does anyone have an idea as to why our video isn't displaying when someone searches for our brand @WashULaw with the @ symbol within YouTube's search? ZP3SGM5sr

Videos impact on SEOmoz On Page Analysis
For several years we've heard that Google rewards pages that include videos with significantly higher page ranks, however I do not see video incorporated into the On Page Analysis. One of our competitors ranks 1st-3rd on a several keywords while the On Page Analysis tool grades them as an F for the same keywords. This competitor uses video more than any of the others, and has far more YouTube subscribers. I suspect video plays a role in their excellent SERP. Is there a video evaluation tool within SEOmoz? If not, is one coming, or is there a reason why it would not be appropriate? Does anyone have suggestions for incorporating the use of videos in SEO evaluations and recommendations? Thank you, Michael

Video SEO - Why are my videos not being indexed?
Hello All, I work on a site that has a lot of videos. The trouble is none of them are ranking. Here is an example of a page with a video on. If you click the play button you will see But none of these videos are being indexed, as you can see here. Is it because these videos are just mp4 files, rather than being embedded players (like SEOmoz use for instance)? Would embedding videos through Viddler / Wistia / Youtube etc help? Or is there some other issue at work here? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rich

Hosting All Content Images On Flickr For Blog - What are SEO implications?
Hi, I am starting a travel blog and thought of the idea of hosting all the content images over at Flickr and just calling them into my blog content when needed. Benefits: push traffic over to my Flickr account pull traffic from Flickr to my blog However, I was just wondering about any SEO implications of having 3-4 links per post pointing to Flickr. Is this spammy? Will I lose my juice? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.
