Will it make any difference to SEO on an ecommerce site if they use their SSL certificate (https) across every page
-
I know that e-commerce sites usually have SSL certificates on their payment pages. A site I have come across is using has the https: prefix to every page on their site.
I'm just wondering if this will make any difference to the site in the eyes of Search Engines, and whether it could effect the rankings of the site?

As Chris says, this shouldn't be a problem at all. We've done this on a few stores and not seen any measurable impact in either direction from it.
The only thing to be aware of is the possibility of introducing canonical URLs. http://example.com and https://example.com are different URLs. If both are accessible and return a valid header then both can be indexed. Always worth ensuring that you either have a redirect, a rel=canonical or robots.txt addressing that issue if you have https in place.

Nicola,
According to John Mueller from Google Switzerland, HTTPS-only sites are fine and there’s absolutely no need to shy away from them so long as they're implemented properly. There’s certainly no penalty involved with running your site on HTTPS-only when done right.

Language Selection Splash Page- Impact on SEO
Hi, Our site has a page for new visitors to select their language to view our website So if you type our brand adress (http://www.bdc.ca) you should be redirected to this "splash" page (http://www.bdc.ca/pages/splashpage.aspx). What is the SEO impact of doing this and is there a better way for users to choose their languages, SEO-wise (and UX wise) ? You'll also see that after the visitor select its language, he's redirected to the actual home page using a two 302 redirects ( one to bdc.ca/en/ and then another one to the actual home page). I am aware of this and I know this is really bad. Please share what you think would be the best way to manage this language selection in respect to SEO, but with respect to UX too. Thanks ! Jean-François Monfette

Any Insights On HTML5 Parallax Sites & SEO?
Looking for any insights regarding experience with optimization and HTML5 websites that use parallax scrolling making the website only one page (single unique URL). If done right, I've seen a number of these sites with great UX, clean design and nice layouts, but it comes down to only being able to optimize a single page. Does Google view single page sites as less authoritative? I'll open the floor to any comments at all about this. Thanks in advance Mozzers.

Paginated Home Page Duplicates on Wordpress Sites
A number of my websites created on WP are displaying duplicate home pages with these types of urls. http://www.example.com/page/10/ http://www.example.com/page/11/ http://www.example.com/page/12/ I found these duplicates using the site:search command. Basically, put in any number and the Home Page opens. With the above mentioned url structure. Any idea on why they are created, how they can be stopped and what kind of an impact they would have in terms of SEO and the penalty that comes with duplicate content.
