Cloud Hosting and Duplicate content
-
Hi
I have an ecommerce client who has all their images cloud hosted (amazon CDN) to speed up site. Somehow it seems maybe because the pinned the images on pinterest but the CDN got indexed and there now seems to be about 50% of the site duplicated (about 2500 pages eg: http://d2rf6flfy1l.cloudfront.net..)
Is this a problem with duplicate content? How come Moz doesnt show it up as crawl errors? Why is thisnot a problem that loads of people have?I only found a couple of mentions of such a prob when I googled it..
any suggestion will be grateful!

you can set up a CNAME record to be used with CloudFront on copyfaxes.com. It could be something like images.copyfaxes.com if you are only using cloudFront to serve images.
I serve all my media content and scripts via WPEngine's CDN and use a CNAME to suggest all the content resides on my subdomain
eg: cdn.bestpremiumthemes.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Input-Form-Designs-100x65.png

Hi there,
Cloudfront really should be blocking Google's indexing of its hosted contact - have you contacted the company about this? I am not familiar with their service, but content hosted to deliver to sites like yours should not be available for indexation, especially since the problem is rather large: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=http%3A%2F%2Fd2rf6flf4rky1l.cloudfront%2F&oq=http%3A%2F%2Fd2rf6flf4rky1l.cloudfront%2F&aqs=chrome..69i58j69i57.677j0j4&sourceid=chrome&espv=210&es_sm=91&ie=UTF-8

Thanks for your answer - moz told me they don't pick it up because they only pick up duplicate content within the same url.
My issue is I have my site url http://copyfaxes.com and my CDN which is http://d2rf6flf4rky1l.cloudfront. net which is identical. Is this a problem?
(I think it got indexed through pinterest)
Any help would really be appreciated!

Hi Henya,
CDNs do not cause problems with duplicate content, duplicate content issues if they come are usually sourced from something other than CDNs. As result this is possibly why MOZ is not picking it up.
CDNs serve content from different locations TRUE, however it is accessed via the SAME domain/URL. In other words one URL can be coming from different CDN/cloud servers, but since its that same identical URL, no duplicate content issues arise.
Hope this helps!

How to deal with duplicated content on product pages?
Hi, I have a webshop with products with different sizes and colours. For each item I have a different URL, with almost the same content (title tag, product descriptions, etc). In order to prevent duplicated content I'am wondering what is the best way to solve this problem, keeping in mind: -Impossible to create one page/URL for each product with filters on colour and size -Impossible to rewrite the product descriptions in order to be unique I'm considering the option to canonicolize the rest of de colours/size variations, but the disadvantage is that in case the product is not in stock it disappears from the website. Looking forward to your opinions and solutions. Jeroen

Duplicate Content Issue WWW and Non WWW
One of my sites got hit with duplicate content a while ago because Google seemed to be considering hhtp, https, www, and non ww versions of the site all different sites. We thought we fixed it, but for some reason https://www and just https:// are giving us duplicate content again. I can't seem to figure out why it keeps doing this. The url is https://bandsonabudget.com if any of you want to see if you can figure out why I am still having this issue.

Duplicate page content
Hello, My site is being checked for errors by the PRO dashboard thing you get here and some odd duplicate content errors have appeared. Every page has a duplicate because you can see the page and the page/~username so... www.short-hairstyles.com is the same as www.short-hairstyles.com/~wwwshor I don't know if this is a problem or how the crawler found this (i'm sure I have never linked to it). But I'd like to know how to prevent it in case it is a problem if anyone knows please? Ian

Why are my pages getting duplicate content errors?
Studying the Duplicate Page Content report reveals that all (or many) of my pages are getting flagged as having duplicate content because the crawler thinks there are two versions of the same page: http://www.mapsalive.com/Features/audio.aspx http://www.mapsalive.com/Features/Audio.aspx The only difference is the capitalization. We don't have two versions of the page so I don't understand what I'm missing or how to correct this. Anyone have any thoughts for what to look for?
