Organic searches are a roller coaster when should I get worried?
-
Hello Moz'ers
I know organic searches go up and down and there is no way to control that. When should I be worried about search results I.E. site is being de-listed or some other SEO problem
-
Then you have nothing to worry about as far as being delisted.
I doubt the server issue would matter, but do make sure your website loads as fast as possible. That is one factor that influences search results. But suffice to say the traffic sways up and down based on lots of factors from Google along with things like the day of the week, seasons of the year, holidays, etc. In my opinion you have nothing to worry about outside of simply steadily building your website traffic.

patrick_G we aren't engaged in any grey hat or black hat practices we are kind of learning SEO as we go and trying to figure out if a new update from google is affecting us. Also scaled down our servers to smaller servers not sure if server speed affects SEO drastically or not

If I'm reading the screen shot right, I wouldn't be worried. Seems like normal to me.
If you're not doing anything black or grey hat that you're worried Google might not like, I'm not sure why you'd be worried about getting delisted or penalized in any way.

How to get more keyword ideas
I am trying to get more keyword ideas for one of my project. For example the seed keyword is computer virus and the results which i get is keywords related to the phrase computer virus such as virus in computer , virus threats but actually i am trying to get search details on actual threat names or types of viruses and i expect output such as malware, trojan etc.. ( Currently using ad words keyword planner to fetch keyword data ) Is there any way to achieve this ? Even if i use "types of computer viruses" as seed keyword i am not getting the types of viruses people searching for instead i get keywords ideas such as computer viruses, computer threats etc... ? Can somebody suggest a solution ?

Getting client to spend the time writing article of authority
Hi, I've got an issue that I'm sure many of you are good at dealing with. I'm working with an authority in my client's industry. There is the president, who is definitely an authority. There is his wife, who has a name in the field, is an author in the field, but her name is not near as big as the president. I found a really, really good topic for content that is attracting links in the industry - one of the best content topics possible which really needed to be addressed on my client's website. I let them know that it needed to be an article of authority, but they had their assistant write it. It's good, she's talented - it's informative, interesting, has 2 embedded videos of the president talking, and is 1650 words. We haven't made the videos yet. The thing is, doesn't this need to be written by the authority - president. He's a slow writer with zero time, but I think it needs to be his voice with his name on it to attract links. He's super super busy though. Should I: 1. Suggest that the president do a thorough editing of the article and put his name on it. or 2. Have his wife (who has more time) do a thorough editing of the article and put her name on it. or 3. Leave it as is or 4. Have the president rewrite the entire article when he has time, which he would be resistant to. or 5. Have the president's wife rewrite the entire article, which she would be resistant to? What do you guys think with the little information I've given you?

Getting out of Google's Penguin
Hi all, my site www.uniggardin.dk has lost major rankings on the searchengine google.dk. Went from rank #2-3 on important keywords to my site, and after the latest update most of my rankings have jumped to #12 - #20. This is so annoying, and I really have no idea what to do. Can it cause bad links to my site? In that case what will I have to do? Thanks in advance,

Getting Pages Requiring Login Indexed
Somehow certain newspapers' webpages show up in the index but require login. My client has a whole section of the site that requires a login (registration is free), and we'd love to get that content indexed. The developer offered to remove the login requirement for specific user agents (eg Googlebot, et al.). I am afraid this might get us penalized. Any insight?

Which search engines still use Meta Keywords?
I know Google doesn't use meta keywords in meta tags, but i was wondering if there are other smaller search engines that still do? Id it worth it to add meta keywords for them?

Title displays differently depending on search query?
Hi, I have seen this a few times but maybe someone can shed some light as to why this happens? If I search for a generic keyword im targeting in the title tag it shows the actual title tag placed in the code. But if I search for the brand name, the title tag changes to show just the brand name, so completely different to the default title tag. Any ideas why it does this? And is this bad, is Google saying the content on the site is not relevant and therefore decides to change it? Cheers

301 Redirect how to get those juices flowing
HI Guys Following on from my previous posts i have still not got my rankings back, http://www.seomoz.org/q/301-redirect-have-no-ranking i am beginning to think that i do have a underlying issue in the site which is restricting me My old site www.economyleasinguk.co.uk was moved to www.economy-car-leasing.co.uk, as mentioned the 301 seemed to go really well and all pages updated within 48 hours, however over 5 months on and the juice from the old site is still not pushed over and i hardly rank at all for anything. here are a list of things i have tried 1:Swapped the original 301 which was PHP for an Htaccess 2: added canonical tag to all pages 3: Turned on internal links as per this post by Everett Sizemore http://www.seomoz.org/blog/uncrawled-301s-a-quick-fix-for-when-relaunches-go-too-well number 3 was only done 5 days ago and initially bot traffic was immense, and may need a bit more time to see any results. I still think i have another underlying issue due to the below reasons 1: Page rank on home page is one but inner pages mixture of 1, 2 and 3 sporadically 2: If I copy text from home page no results 3: Open site explorer still has the old site at with a PA of 60 compared to 42 for the new site 4: Checked server logs and Google is visiting old site 5: Header responses are all correct for the canonicals and see no chaining of the 301’s 6: All pages are do follow and no robots restrictions 7: site:has only in the last few days removed the old site from the index naturally it could be that its just a matter of time however 5 months for a 301 is a very long time and 80% traffic loss is immense I would really appreciate it if someone can give the site a once over and see if i have missed anything obvious. Thanks in advance
