Client wants to promote his game for kickstarter
-
I have a client that wants to promote a game to get funding from kickstarter.com.
I'm still pretty new to SEO although I already had some projects. But this project sound difficult to me as the SEO must be worldwide. Where would you start to help his campaign to earn visibility. Besides On-Page Optimization I thought social media marketing would be best to make his website known within a short period of time.
What are your thoughts.
Thanks for any suggestion!
Marc

Hi Milan,
thanks for sour response, I took this idea into my slides for the presentation...
-
Hi Zoe,
thank you very much. Google Adwords is indeed a good idea.
-
Hi Moosa,
ok I will do so!
Thank you very much

Thanks Josh for sour great answer. I also think FB advertising is a good start!
-
Hi Marc,
Besides all those really great suggestions, don't forget some "hard" work. Promotion on game forums, as well as contacting well know game blogs for review, sponsored post, or something similar.
Cheers,
Milan

Hi,
You've already had some great suggestions! I'd also consider Google Adwords text ads, if you're looking to get traffic to your website quickly, as these can bring traffic right away. You can then work on optimisation to make the campaign more budget-effective.
Thanks,

When you say short period of time, SEO is not the correct answer is most of the cases but I would highly recommend you looking in to growth strategies, social media and content promotions that help you get tons of subscribers.
Also, running some kind of competition around the game should also help!
Just a thought!

Promoting several posts on FB increases the reach for all posts
My FB page has a reach for 3000-5000 views. I promoted several posts and got 40 000-60 000 views per promoted post. An interesting thing that now when I post on my FB page I got 5000-8000 reach without promoting? Have you similar experience?

Best Way to Promote Self Hosted Videos?
We are soon to launch 25 short videos on one of our websites. They are a little bit different and I think they have a particularly good chance of going viral. The videos will be scattered over the website on our actual sales pages (not tucked away on our blog). We are hoping (expecting) that customers will click on them and subsequently share them mainly due to the surprise / fun factor. I've got a lot of experience promoting our (linkbait) blog posts which usually get between 10,000 and 100,000 hits via social media blogs, however, I have no experience promoting video. We will do the offsite social blog promotions as normal, however, my two main concerns are: 1. I'm unsure how best to use the social buttons (facebook like/share tweet and G+). As I understand it (I could very much be wrong), I can either embed the social buttons on the videos so that they are easily shared across facebook etc... or I can make the the social button make the user 'Like' / 'Share' the page that the video is on. I assume that the latter option is better for website promotion but maybe not good for people sharing the video on Facebook etc. some of the videos do not have pride of place on our pages. An explanation or examples on the best option would be appreciated. 2. Should we hold off from putting the videos on YouTube until the website has earned some of the juice first? Or are we missing out on and opportunity by not offering all avenues at once? Any other tips would be greatly appreciated too! They will hopefully be up and running by the end of the month so I'll come back and let you know how it went. Thank you for your time guys and gals! Richard (Moz Customer 2391745) PS. If it is of interest we are using JW Player

Setting up Google + Business Pages for Multiple Clients
I am looking at setting up several of my clients with Google Plus pages for their businesses. What's the best practice for doing this? Should I have a separate Google Account for each and set up the Business Page under that account? Are you allowed to have multiple Google Accounts manage a single Business Page - i.e., can I turn it over to the business without having to relinquish my control or give them access to the account I made? Any good tutorials on getting started with this? Thanks! Tom

Does promoting a new page on twitter/facebook help it get indexed faster?
I know this probably won't matter much to people who get crawled on a regular basis, but for those of us who don't, does promoting a new page on social media help it get indexed faster with google? My site rarely gets crawled, but I've recently been adding new content. When I add new content I started to promote it on facebook/twitter and I do get minimal traffic from it. I noticed that a couple of the pages seem to be indexing quicker than pages normally do for me, although I'm not sure if it's because I recently migrated to WP or what..? I know T/FB are no follow sites, but is there a chance that promoting a page may contribute to the pages getting indexed? Thanks for any insight you can shed on the matter. It's more for curiosities sake than anything else. Pete S.

Does anyone see any merchantcircle backlinks showing up in OSE reports for themselves or their clients?
Just got around to looking for a client's link on merchantcircle and didn't see it, so I looked for some other client's links from there and they don't show up either. Am I the last one to notice this?

Face Book..your thoughts on promoting on main web site
Moz Community, I would like Facebook promotion opinions. I have a local business (Seattle painting contractor) and have built a fan page which engages our clients, local & national suppliers, friends and other contractors. Our original intent was to use the fan page to promote our main website; we never added a prominent "like us" button on our main page, we did not want to convert for facebook when our best content was on our site. I have been pleasantly surprised this past year how many fans we have accumulated by promotion and by accident. The main benefit has been rewarding engagement from other industry marketers such as Benjamin Moore paint company, and introductions to local design professionals..and these conversations once started continue by direct communication (email..phone). I have just added a facebook link on my blog..see attached picture Join our 2500+ fans. Primarily because the visitors to the blog tend to be the sort that engage on Facebook vs the type that want a painting contractor (Google analytics traffic data and click through behavior). I now have more traffic to the blog than the front end site. What do you think of the button? What else should be promoting? Following a thread here thought I'd login to G+ only to notice the new Google games tab, lol you've gotta give em A+ for trying ...... Think Google should try to be a little more original, wondered what everyone else thought of this new addition? Lee
