Sharepoint SEO - How to lowercase urls with rewrite rules?

We have a borked website running on sharepoint IIS .net that has been at the mercy of many bad developers
We have rewrite rules with an ini file for 301s etc. We are struggling to find out or figure out how to lowercase them
The lowercase functionality may be native within sharepoint somewhere
Any help appreciated! Sorry its so vague

Here's how to achieve what you need through an IIS URL Rewrite:
<rewrite><rules><rule name="ForceLowercase" stopprocessing="false"><match url=".[A-Z]." ignorecase="false"><action type="Redirect" redirecttype="Permanent" url="{ToLower:{R:0}}"></action></match></rule></rules></rewrite>
Translation: If the URL contains any uppercase letters, convert it to all lowercase, then continue processing other rules. (You can name the rule whatever you want.)
These rewrite rules are stored either in the ApplicationHost.config file or in Web.config files. More info and step-by step instructions: creating IIS URL Rewrites.
Note: Compared to the [ISAPI_Rewrite] filters (httpd.ini), I've found that the IIS URL Rewrite (web.config) rules seem to match the syntax of Apache more often. As a result, it's easier to find RegEx expressions already written for what you need. It also helps to focus on debugging the actual code versus some strange IIS exception. Good luck!

Some update from the dev
We’re using IIS6 and Ionic Isapi filter
There are some instruction I found on a forum that do the lowercase redirect
Finally, downcase as necessary. If there are any
uppercase characters in the URL, apply this rule.
RewriteCond %{url} [A-Z]+
RedirectRule ^(.*)$ #L$1#E [R=301]

URL path randomly changing
Hi eveyone, got a quick question about URL structures: I'm currently working in ecommerce with a site that has hundreds of products that can be accessed through different URL paths: 1)www.domain.com/productx 2)www.domain.com/category/productx 3)www.domain.com/category/subcategory/productx 4)www.domain.com/bestsellers/productx 5)... In order to get rid of dublicate content issues, the canoncial tag has been installed on all the pages required. The problem I'm witnessing now is the following: If a visitor comes to the site and navigates to the product through example 2) at time the URL shown in the URL browser box is example 4), sometimes example 1) or whatever. So it is constantly changing. Does anyone know, why this happens and if it has any impact on GA tracking or even on SEO peformance. Any reply is much appreciated Thanks you

International Seo - Canada
Our organization is currently only operating in the USA but will soon be entering the Canadian market. We did a lot of research and decided that for our needs it would be best to use a subfolder for Canada. Initially we will be targeting the english speaking community but eventually we will want to expand to the french speaking Canadians as well. If we put relevant RSS feeds on a site, will it help the SEO value? Years ago, I shied away from RSS feeds because they slowed the site down and I didn't like relying on them. However, the past couple years, the Internet has become better, especially in Alaska.

Landing Page URL Structure
We are finally setting up landing pages to support our PPC campaigns. There has been some debate internally about the URL structure. Originally we were planning on URL's like: domain.com /california /florida /ny I would prefer to have the URL's for each state inside a "state" folder like: domain.com /state /california /florida /ny I like having the folders and pages for each state under a parent folder to keep the root folder as clean as possible. Having a folder or file for each state in the root will be very messy. Before you scream URL rewriting :-). Our current site is still running under Classic ASP which doesn't support URL rewriting. We have tried to use HeliconTech's ISAPI rewrite module for IIS but had to remove it because of too many configuration issues. Next year when our coding to MVC is complete we will use URL rewriting. So the question for now: Is there any advantage or disadvantage to one URL structure over the other?

Google News URL Format
Hi, We are currently redesigning our gaming website (www.totallygn.com) and one of our main goals is to get listed by Google News in future. Looking at the Google News URL requirements "The URL for each article must contain a unique number consisting of at least three digits." How does the above affect SEO structure? URL rewriting from subcategory to category
Hello everybody! I have quite simple question about URL rewriting from subcategory to category, yet I can't find any solution to this problem (due to lack of my deeper apache programming knowledge). Here is my problem/question: we have two website url structures that causes dublicate problems: www.website.lt/language/category/ www.website.lt/language/category/1/ 1 and 2 pages are absolutely same (both also returns 200 OK). What we need is 301 redirect from 2 to 1 without any other deeper categories redirects (like www.website.com/language/category/1/169/ redirecting to .../category/1/ or .../category/). Is there an advantage/disadvantage to adding an .html suffix to urls in a CMS like WordPress. Plugins exist to do it, but it seems better for the user to leave it off. What do search engines prefer?

Should me URLs be uppercase or lowercase
I'm in the middle of doing a bunch of 301 redirects for me site. Should I make them Lowercase, uppercase, or does it matter? Also, do I want to be using hyphens (-), or underscores (_)? Any other tips? EX: http://www.stupid.com/golf-slippers.html OR http://www.stupid.com/Golf-Slippers.html
