Progressive JPEGs. Wondering if I should consider it OR not?
-
Hi all,
I am pretty new to the concept of progressive jpegs so don't know much about it.
I believe for a webpage with small images (under 10Kbs) I probably shouldnt worry about progressive jpegs but i do have some images for the size 250+ KBs.
Should I go ahead and turn it into progressive from baseline?

Thanks Peter, very helpful!

Exactly. For small images even it's better to combine them in large image and serve individual as sprites.
But when you have large images - then progressive jpegs is much better (even for mobile users https://code.facebook.com/posts/857662304298232/faster-photos-in-facebook-for-ios/ ). But progressive jpg also have drawbacks - they require little bit more memory and little bit more CPU power for draws. You also can see Patrick Meenan article about that http://blog.patrickmeenan.com/2013/06/progressive-jpegs-ftw.html
Patrick show that only using of progressive jpegs can improve speed index (webpagetest score) between 7% to 15% at same size in bytes.

Is this considered Black Hat?
So here is the website I’m looking at, it ranks #1 in keywords like used cars for sale billings mt, etc. I was trying to figure out how, because there is no content on the page! I am working on one of our sites to get it to rank better when I found this in my research. #1 http://prntscr.com/aoy0ho So I did a “view page source” to see how many times they’re using keywords and what they’re title and description tags are. #2 http://prntscr.com/aoy0w1 WAIT WHAT…. WHERE IS THIS CONTENT?! #3 http://prntscr.com/aoy13o Then I found it… #4 http://prntscr.com/aoy1e8 #5 http://prntscr.com/aoy1o8 #6 http://prntscr.com/aoy1u1 It doesn’t even read like real content. This has to be considered poor form. I'm not sure why it makes me so angry. What do you guys think?

AngularJS - What To Consider?
Hi all, I have a website which is going to be rebuild in AngularJS. It's a massive website that recieves a lot of traffic. As I am new to AngularJS and with less programming knowledge, I am not 100% confident about how to go about it. I am requesting MOZers to please point me in the right direction to get the SEO right. What are the things to take care of? How it will impact the search engine rankings etc.

What things should I consider if I am doing a 301 redirect on only 1 page/blog post?
I wrote a blog post on one of my websites and it got picked up by reddit and I got a bunch of nice backlinks and now that website got a nice boost overall, and especially that blog post page. I now wish I would have posted the article on a different website of mine. I would prefer if this other site was getting the traffic and the good backlinks that I've acquired. What are the pros and cons if I move the content over to my other website, and 301 redirect just that one article to the article location on my other website? The blog post I wrote almost instantly began ranking for certain terms in Google. Ideally I would like my other website to rank for those terms, but I realize there will be some differences as search engines look at the website as a whole and take many factors into consideration. I know there are tons of case studies and information about moving entire sites etc but I couldn't find much on this. Any advice, questions or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Showing specific info just for our own IP. May google consider this cloaking?
I want to show some additional info on our website that will only be visible to the IP address of our office. Do I need to be concerned that google may consider this cloaking?

Site not progressing at all....
We relaunched our site almost a year ago after our old site dropped out of ranking due to what we think was overused anchor text.... We transferred over the content to the new site, but started fresh in terms of links etc. And did not redirect the old site. Since the launch we have focused on producing good content and social, but the site has made no progress at all. The only factor I can think off is that one site linked to us from all of their pages, which we asked them to remove which they did over 3 months ago, but still showing in Webmaster tools.... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

What would you consider an over optimized title tag? [examples included]
Say you want to target a single page for 2 terms and they both get a good amount of search volume. At the same time you don't want the title tag to be atrocious, do you just choose one? (maybe the one with most search volume). I'm going to make up some examples which aren't based on real search volume for the sake of time and completely fake and you be the judge: custom car parts - exact sv: 4000
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | Hyrule
personalized car parts - exact sv: 5000
wholesale custom car parts - exact sv: 4400 Title tag A: Custom Car Parts - Personalized Wholesale Car Parts | Company Name OR Title Tag B: Custom Car Parts | Company Name Or You recommend. Do you get where i am going here? Some of the pages on my website target 3-4 terms that mean exactly or pretty close to the same thing.0 -
Copying my Facebook content to website considered duplicate content?
I write career advice on Facebook on a daily basis. On my homepage users can see the most recent 4-5 feeds (using FB social media plugin). I am thinking to create a page on my website where visitors can see all my previous FB feeds. Would this be considered duplicate content if I copy paste the info, but if I use a Facebook social media plugin then it is not considered duplicate content? I am working on increasing content on my website and feel incorporating FB feeds would make sense. thank you

I currently have a client that has multiple domains for multiple brands that share the same IP Address. Will link juice be passed along to the different sites when they link to one another or will it simply be considered internal linking?
I have 7 brands that are owned by the same company, each with their own domain. The brands work together to form products that are then sold to the consumer although there is not a e-commerce aspect to any of the sites. I am looking to create a modified link wheel between the sites, but didn't know if my efforts would pay off due to the same IP Address for all the sites. Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated.
