Meta HTTP-EQUIV
-
Hi people!
When you try to access http://www.ufam.edu.br you are redirected to http://portal.ufam.edu.br.
Here's the code:
<title>UFAM - Universidade Federal do Amazonas</title>
What are the implications for SEO of this ?
Won't the juice be passed?
Isn't it better for passing juice using redirect 301?
-
Nope the meta tag http-equiv won't be usefull.
If your page has definitely moved to portal.ufam.edu.br, you should clearly implement a 301 redirection to it, and not use the HTTP-EQUIV meta tag (which is not interpreted by search engines). With a 301 redirection, you will tell to search engines to reassign the linkjuice of any backlink pointing to www.ufam.edu.br to the new portal.ufam.edu.br URL.
I recommend you reading this articles:

So using the meta tag http-equiv won't be usefull ?
-
The redirection is currently inefficient from a SEO perspective.
To pass link juice, I clearly recommend using a 301 (permanent) redirection.

Google W.M.T Missing Meta Title on AJax Pages... Weird!!
Hey Mozers, I was looking through my Google Web Masters Tool under HTML Improvements. It looks like I have 2,200 pages missing Meta Titles and I was about to lose it thinking HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN! I came to realize that the pages were "Ajax Pages". This is specifically a checkprice pop up and I dont want this page crawled by google. It looks like to google I have over 2k pages missing Meta Titles and they are all "check price pop ups". How would you suggest I block this. I thought about going the easy route and removing the subfolder and putting it in the Robots.txt document and I'm scared of that because we use AJax for a bunch of calls. I'm also scared of putting in the head <metaname="robots" =="" noindex, nofollow"="">because it requires hard coding</metaname="robots"> I Know i'm not the first to come across this issue, Any Ideas??

Is Link Weight Lost Moving from HTTP to HTTPS?
I'm considering moving a site from http://www.domain.com/ to https://domain.com/. I would put a 301 redirect in place to make sure all of the links and traffic transfer over but am worried about losing rankings since we have many years worth of links going to the old urls. My understanding is that a 301 will transfer 90%+ of the link weight to the new url, but not 100%. Is there an exception to this rule when doing a 301 redirect within the same domain (but to a different protocol and subdomain)? Should we expect to lose 1-10% of our link weight if we chose to make this switch?

Constructing the perfect META Title - Ranking vs CTR vs Search Volume
Hello Mozzers! I want to discuss the science behind the perfect META Title in terms of three factors: 1. Ranking 2. CTR 3. Search Volume Hypothetical scenario: A furniture company "Boogie Beds" wants to optimise their META Title tag for their "Cane Beds" ecommerce webpage. 1. The keywords "Cane Beds' has a search volume of 10,000 2. The keywords " Cane Beds For Sale" has a search volume of 250 3. The keywords "Buy Cane Beds" has a search volume of 25 One of Boogie Beds SEO's suggests a META Title "Buy Cane Beds For Sale Online | Boogie Beds" to target and rank for all three keywords and capture long tail searches. The other Boogie Bed SEO says no! The META Title should be "Cane Beds For Sale | Boogie Beds" to target the most important two competitive keywords and sacrifice the "Buy" keyword for the other two Which SEO would you agree more with, considering 1. Ranking ability 2. Click through rates 3. Long tail search volume 4. Keyword dilution Much appreciated! MozAddict

Effects of having both http and https on my website
You are able to view our website as either http and https on all pages. For example: You can type "http://mywebsite.com/index.html" and the site will remain as http: as you navigate the site. You can also type "https://mywebsite.com/index.html" and the site will remain as https: as you navigate the site. My question is....if you can view the entire site using either http or https, is this being seen as duplicate content/pages? Does the same hold true with "www.mywebsite.com" and "mywebsite.com"? Thanks!

Changing meta title dynamically e.g. with number of reviews in title. Is this a problem?
I would like to put the number of reviews in the meta title of a product page. I noticed that tripadvisor for example does the same. However I read in some places that people encountered problems with frequent title tag changes. Did you ever encounter problems by just changing numbers in title tag?

Do you think it is really a problem if just the number of the reviews changes? what about putting number of reviews in the meta description instead?0 -
