Understanding Moz Opportunity and Potential
-
Hello Friends - I am just learning Moz tool via Udacity
I was doing some analysis using Moz for the following keyword
"digital marketing courses"
This is the result what I get. Moz tells me the opportunity is 83. This is a high number and does not reflect what I see when I search in google. The page is full of ads. A organic click is going to be very difficult.
Moz potential also says 79 - again a high number which does not seem to be the reality. It is going to be very difficult for a new service to rank higher.I have fundamental doubt on whether SEO will work on keywords which are in high demand by paid ads. more that 30% of the real estate on screen gets taken by paid ads. Even if one searches for long tail key word the story remains same. Does SEO really have a chance to compete with paid ads for business driving keywords?

Hi there!
I agree with what you're saying—the more and more paid ads on a page, the harder is it to generate clickthroughs from the organic results. While a lot of people click the ads (usually without even realizing it's an ad), there are still some people who were told growing up to never click the ads, and thus always scroll down to the organic results.
While these opportunity/potential scores do seem really high in comparison with what you're seeing on the actual SERP, I would still considering optimizing a page for your desired keyword because yes, it's not ideal to be lower than all those ads, but 2) you NEED to show up in the organic under those ads if you want to generate any sort of clickthroughs.
Good luck!

MOZ toolbar not recognising me as signed in
Since SEOMoz became MOZ, my toolbar is no longer working. Is this a known issue? I'm definitely signed into the account (hence this email), but the toolbar still requests login. Apologies if I'm not the only one to report it. Robb

Does the Moz Toolset offer anything like Raven's Backlink Explorer from fresh index
It seems like a useful feature where I can see what backlinks look like right now vs. the last monthly Moz dataset update. That is mostly because my site is new, but wondered if I was missing something. Thanks, Steven

Is anybody else having great difficulty in finding good link opportunities on Open Site Explorer?
I've been using OSE for a while now, and I'm struggling to see any value in it. When I search my competitors link profiles, I find just hundreds and hundreds of crappy reciprocal links, splogs or the like. I have to go through days and days (thousands of links) before I find anything worth using. Is anybody having this sort of problem? Thanks

IP Location at a glance - Moz toolbar
I am using the latest version of the moz toolbar in my firefox browser. The IP location feature is not working for me as demonstrated in the article. "You will now notice a new button with a flag that shows up in the toolbar as you surf the web. This new toolbar addition shows the country where this site is hosted. Click on the flag to see more details about the location and IP address. If you want to learn more, click on the IP to access WhoIs information." My flag icon is depressed and looks like a US flag, even when I browse European sites. Also, I never see the location nor IP address of other sites. Am I missing a step or is the tool not working correctly?
