Pagination & SEO
-
Hi
We have automatically created brand pages based on which brand they have in their attributes.
At the moment, developers have restricted the ability to properly optimise these for SEO, but I also wanted to look at how we should handle pagination.
Example:
http://www.key.co.uk/en/key/brand/manutan?page=1
http://www.key.co.uk/en/key/brand/manutan?page=2
http://www.key.co.uk/en/key/brand/manutan?page=3
Should we do any of the following - which I've found in an article:
-
Put no follow on all links located on pagination pages
-
Should we no index these pages as they are wasting crawl budget?
- Don’t show links to page 2, 3, 4, 5… 10, 11, 12… at the end of your content but only a link to the next and previous pages so that you won’t dilute your page authority.
Or does anyone else have any tips on how to handle these pages?
Thank you!

Becky,
The parameters that denote the page are going to make this a bit more difficult, but what you should do is markup the pages with rel next/prev tags. You can read more on that here: https://moz.com/blog/seo-guide-to-google-webmaster-recommendations-for-pagination
You'll also want to configure the parameters in Google Search Console. Under the Crawl menu on the left, the last option is URL Parameters. Chances are the page parameter already shows up here, but you can use this feature of GSC to specify what the parameter does. Just click Edit in the furthest right column and choose 'Yes: Changes, reorders, or narrows page content' and then 'Paginates'. Next, just select which URLs with that parameter you want Google to crawl and you're all set.

Mass Referencing Supplier Product Info & SEO
Hi I have a mass referencing project which will mean taking between 1000-2000 SKUs from a supplier, taking all their content & loading it onto our site. I need to make a case for not doing this from an SEO perspective. As these are pages I want to rank. I'm going to push for optimising titles/meta titles before they're loaded in. However if not, I may be forced to load in the products as they are & go back to optimise everything - does anyone see a real issue with this? I know there are so many 'similar' descriptions of products on ecommerce sites & across the web, so how does Google deal with these? The pages won't be identical as the templates are different, but maybe 100-200 words of descriptions could be until we work through them. Although this isn't ideal - what are the implications? The problem for me is, the managers just want the products on the site, without much thought regarding organic traffic/categorisation initially. Thanks!

Pagination dilemma
We are about to migrate an ecommerce site to a whole different platform and we are facing a pagination dilemma. The new platform has a view all page for each category where all the individual pages point with a rel canonical to the view all page. What would be best to to as for the redirect. should we do the 301 redirect to the view all page ? Considering that the view all page takes quite a time to load, wouldn’t it be good to drop the view all an implement the rel-next, rel-prev and point the 301 redirect to the first page. If we do the view all page, wouldn't be a problem if all the natural backlinks that we'll get will not be for the page view all page, but for the page1, page2 etc?

Reviews and Other Content in Tabs and SEO
Hello, We are redesigning our product page and have considered putting our customer reviews in a 'tab' on the page, so it is not visible to the user until they click on the tab. Are there any SEO implications of this? Right now, we do have problems with this because we use a third party tool for our reviews and they are in javascript, so they do not get crawled, but going forward we will be using our native platform. We want the text of the reviews to get crawled and indexed. Thanks.

Meta Abstract & Revisit
Moz Community, I have just noted a competitor using some meta information i have not seen before, Just wondering if anyone has any experience or feedback on using these tags and if they are worth implementing, Seems very similar to the meta description, i don't really see the point unless potentially this abstract could be more topic based if your meta description is designed for Click-Through optimization. Isn't this defined in the sitemap anyway? , and most of the time we will Tweet and Google Plus share any new updates to our site also Google seems to do a good job anyway of crawling anything new we publish or change, Any advice or feedback would be great please, Thanks James

Wordpress Blogs and SEO
So far we have been creating separate blogs on wordpress.com for our sites, and writing there. Today I was told that there was better SEO hosting the blog on the actual domain. i.e. www.widgets.com/blog instead of widget.wordpress.com Is this true? Oddly I have had my WP beat my own URL on one account. So I am not sure if this is valid. Can someone tell me pros and cons of both? Thanks!
