Can I check outbound links from a website?
-
Hi! Is there an easy way to check if a certain domain has a link to my domain. Is there something similar to "checking outbound links" on a website?
-
@donsilvernail , no the OSE shows the number of INBOUND domains. The question is regarding OUTBOUND domains and/or OUTBOUND links. Does MOZ have this information?
-
Hi Annabel,
OSE and other link tools may tell you if a site is linking to you, but they are not foolproof because it depends on whether those tools have indexed those links - which could take months.
The best way to check if a site is linking to you is with Screaming Frog.
Crawl the site you want to check and go to 'Bulk Export' > 'External Links'.
This will give you a spreadsheet with all the external links on that domain and from there you can find any links to your domain.
Cheers,
David

Hi there!
Jo here from Moz support here. As Donald has suggested you can use OSE for this research.
If you have a Moz Pro subscription you can also check "linking domain", like this for example
https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/domains?site=moz.com&target=page&sort=domain_authority&page=1
We've got a guide here https://moz.com/help/guides/research-tools/open-site-explorer/linking-domains
I hope this helps, please do let me know if you would like more clarification or have any other queries.
Cheers!

Hi AnnabelH
You could use Open Site Explorer OSE
Just insert your domain or url and see what links come up that are pointed back at your site. You could also use it on the suspected domain as well.
You could also utilize SEMRush
Thanks,
Don

What does "Number of Linking Root Domains" in Open Site Explorer actually mean?
I've read through the forum, but I'm confused as to what "Number of Linking Root Domains" means in the Linking Domains report. For example, if the root domain is Moz.com and the number is 135,000 does that mean there are 135,000 links from Moz pointing back to my site or does it mean there are 135,000 sites linking back to Moz? Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Not existing domains linking to my website (spam)
Hello, When i run my platform www.taobao.nl through https://moz.com/researchtools/ose/ i see a lot of nasty adult domains that link to my platform. These give a very negative (spam)score to my platform. I already disavowed quite a few via Webmastertools, but they keep coming. When i check the names in the Whois, they don't even seem to exist! (anymore) What could cause this and how can i end it?? Thanks for your help! Sander
