Writing on the web, what is recommended
-
Hello,
I was wondering what is best in term of SEO when writing on the web.
Between those 2 sentences for example what is best to use
1)You are going to ride your bicycle to the town of Obernai.
- Today, your bicycle ride takes you to Obernai.
-
Do you consider the 2 nd being best because the subject is "your bicycle ride" instead of "you" ?
I am actually targeting "alsace bike tours" as a sentence but this sentence is part of the highlights of my tour.
Maybe in that case it is better to write "Today, your bike tour takes you to Obernai." or doesn't it matter ?
Thank you,
-
I personally find the second much easier to digest and read. As such I would personally adopt that due to being a better experience for the user. However, both should just about cover your needs, as per Kevin I think it depends what you are targeting as a phrase for SEO.

What is your target term? Regarding SEO, if your target term is "bicycle ride Obernai" then probably the second sentence.

Our web site lost ranking on google a couple of years ago. We have done lots of work on it but still can not improve our search ranking. Can anyone give us some advise
A couple of years ago the ranking on our site dropped over night. I believe someone working here at the time purchased links about that time. We have been doing lots of work on the site since then to improve it. We can not get our rankings back up on google searches. Can anyone give us some advise about what to do or where to go for some help that we can trust.

Our client's web property recently switched over to secure pages (https) however there non secure pages (http) are still being indexed in Google. Should we request in GWMT to have the non secure pages deindexed?
Our client recently switched over to https via new SSL. They have also implemented rel canonicals for most of their internal webpages (that point to the https). However many of their non secure webpages are still being indexed by Google. We have access to their GWMT for both the secure and non secure pages.

Should we just let Google figure out what to do with the non secure pages? We would like to setup 301 redirects from the old non secure pages to the new secure pages, but were not sure if this is going to happen. We thought about requesting in GWMT for Google to remove the non secure pages. However we felt this was pretty drastic. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.0 -
Web Developer, Web Designer, SEO Person...what do I need?
I was short on fund for my company when I set up my website. I used a company that was just starting to get into website design and they charged very little. Now that I'm starting to pursue different forms of SEO it has come to my attention (because of SEOmoz reporting) that my website wasn't coded correctly on the backend. For instance the website sometimes uses a trailing slash in the the URL and sometimes it doesn't. This redirects it and creates a duplicate content issue. I need to find someone to audit/evaluate (I guess that's the word) the backend of my website and reprogram it where there are problems. I need to make sure my site is set up in the best way possible to be crawled by search engines. What type of firm do I talk to? A website designer or web developer? Or do I talk to a SEO person who also can code the backend of websites? My website is www.capitolshine.com

Planning for Website traffic on a self-hosted web server
How would you plan for the levels of traffic on an in-house web server? The scenario is that website is basically running on a T1 (1.5 Mbps) connection pipe, and traffic projects to increase significantly with content growing from about 40 uniques a day (on less than 20 poorly optimized web pages + associated PDF documents), to over 150 search optimized content pages + offsite traffic and link building. I'm trying to figure out what kinds of avg traffic levels (plus spikes) would represent a maximum bandwidth capacity for this...given that its a narrow specialty B2B focus. Any answers would be useful.
