My duplicate pages are mostly Tag pages...what are best practices?
-
As I'm looking through my Moz Pro reports on Pages with Duplicate Content, almost all the results are from the automatically created "tag" pages from my blog.
I.e., takeflyte.com/flyte/tags/kickapps
Should I worry about this? Does it have a negative impact in my search visibility? Should I be using canonical tags on these pages (and if so, pointing them where if there's multiple pages that use the same tags?)
How would you recommend handling this issue?
-
What we do is add explanatory content to the tag pages that are for key concepts for our website and link to them from a "glossary" page—people who are new to some of these terms can go there for definitions. We also link to the relevant glossary page in posts where the term comes up, helping to create good internal linking.
Other tag pages can be noindexed or just ignored—the Moz report is just for your reference.

I think the best practice is to first ask yourself: Could this page be valuable / helpful to users?
If yes, I think it's worth optimizing it: changing the title tag, meta description, and adding some copy specific to that tag. This should solve your duplicate content issue, and make the page more likely to appear in search results.
If no, I agree with EspresSEO above, it would probably make the most sense to no-index these pages.

Hi there,
As these pages are just lists of links, they are not particularly valuable to users. So you could simply just apply a meta no-index to the tag pages, which should solve your duplicate content warning.
thanks

Unsolved Almost every new page become Discovered - currently not indexed
Almost every new page that I create becomes Discovered - currently not indexed. It started a couple of months ago, before that all pages were indexed within a couple of weeks. Now there are pages that have not been indexed since the beginning of September. From a technical point of view, the pages are fine and acceptable for a Google bot. The pages are in the sitemap and have content. Basically, these are texts of 1000+ or 2000+ words. I've tried adding new content to pages and even transferring content to a new page with a different url. But in this way, I managed to index only a couple of pages. Has anyone encountered a similar problem?

How do I fix the 500 error when trying to use the page optimization tool?
I keep getting an error when using the page optimization tool - Moz staff replied when I used the chatbot and said that they're receiving a 500 error from my server and to whitelist pagella however my server is not blocking anything. I don't know how to fix this issue any ideas? I've attached a picture of the error message I'm receiving for reference. zzwUlt0

On page SEO Report Sucks
Hey. I'm trying to get a PDF of the on page report so I can see a list of each issue. This works well if you're logged in and just navigate through the different tabs, but not so well if you export. All I get is an overview of the number of the priority issues, but not the URLs and the specific problems. I know you can export a CVS, but that's not a very good branded way to export this. What I'd like to do is export a report that is fairly gainular so I can provide "before and after" reports for work we completed. As is stands now, I have an overview PDF which sucks and can't provide any more details or a CVS which has all the details in the world, but is so in depth it's hard to navigate, especially for clients who don't know what they're looking at, not to mention it's not branded!!! There should be way more options for reporting here. Please let me know if you can do something about this or if I'm just missing something. Thanks. Micha

Received emails about new ranking, crawl and on page reports, but nothing new shows.
Yesterday morning I had emails about updated crawl, ranking and on page reports being available however nothing in my dashboard is newer than 2/21. I waited through yesterday to see if things changed, logged in and out etc but nothing new has shown up. Any ideas on why that is the case?

Duplicate Content Report: Duplicate URLs being crawled with "++" at the end
Hi, In our Moz report over the past few weeks I've noticed some duplicate URLs appearing like the following: Original (valid) URL: http://www.paperstone.co.uk/cat_553-616_Office-Pins-Clips-and-Bands.aspx?filter_colour=Green Duplicate URL: http://www.paperstone.co.uk/cat_553-616_Office-Pins-Clips-and-Bands.aspx?filter_colour=Green**++** These aren't appearing in Webmaster Tools, or in a Screaming Frog crawl of our site so I'm wondering if this is a bug with the Moz crawler? I realise that it could be resolved using a canonical reference, or performing a 301 from the duplicate to the canonical URL but I'd like to find out what's causing it and whether anyone else was experiencing the same problem. Thanks, George

Duplicate Page and Title Content
We applied the tag to our website but Moz still picked up an error in Duplicate Page Content and Duplicate Title for http://www.corpsyn.com/ and http://www.corpsyn.com/index.html after the crawl was completed yesterday. From the forum last week, we tried using the rel=”canonical” tag to tell the Moz crawler that the two pages are the same on purpose but it didn't work. Below is how the code looks on our site up until the rel=”canonical” tag is added: http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
