New business acquisition for digital agencies from SEO and CRO
-
I have a nice simple question to ask all you mozzers out there, specifically if you work for a web design/digital agency.
Does your agency get any new business clients through your SEO and CRO efforts?
I'm asking this to try and build up a qualitative data set.
I am responsible for all SEO and CRO at our agency for all clients along with our own website.
Having increased traffic by over 200% in the last 12 months, and obtaining page one of Google for all our targeted keywords, we are still without any new business or ROI.
We are fortunate enough to get a lot of great clients via word of mouth, a great sales team and client retention, I'd really like to know what the bigger picture is here?
If I get enough data back, I'll make it into my first Youmoz post and share all the data with everyone :¬)
I've now added a survey so you answer anonymously: There are only 5 questions in all, your time is greatly appreciated.

Any feedback gladly welcomed.
Regards
Sean

Afternoon Elias. I've added a link to the survey now :¬)
Many Thanks

That's a damn fine point Elias, and certainly an oversight on my behalf.
I'll definitely do the survey monkey survey, as I understand people not wanting to share this kind of data. I'll share the link Elias once I'm happy with the questions {probably tomorrow now}
Thanks again Elias

All the best with collecting the data!
The only thing about people not needing to say which agency they represent is that the company name appears next to responses.
And there are could be some prying competitors lurking
Anyway, I'd be happy to help out with your research so if you do set up a survey - send me a link!

Thanks Elias,
A survey is a great idea actually, I could set one up with survey monkey.
I'll wait and see what responses I get through in the first week first. Hopefully they will be honest, as I don't need to know what the agency is.
Personally I think we could all benefit from this kind of qualitative data set, and it needn't stop at agencies. But i think I'll try walking before I run :¬)
Thanks for your feedback Elias, greatly appreciated.

Hey Yozzer!
It will be interesting to see your research. Although I doubt you will get many honest responses in the Q&A. You might want to set up a survey for mozzers to complete anonymously.
I'd imagine that most business for most agencies will come from word of mouth. People that are happy with your service to the extent of recommending you are always going to be more likely to provide qualified leads. Essentially the sale has already been made by the person recommending you.
Looking forward to your YouMoz post!

Great SEO Agency
Hi again all, I have appreciated all the help from the community as we are rebuilding our site. Currently we are looking for a great SEO consulting firm to help us with a number of key SEO related tasks and strategies. I have looked through the recommended list MOZ provides: http://moz.com/community/recommended, but I wanted to get everyone's take on who they thought was the "best" - on that list or otherwise. We are looking for an agency that can help us optimize the site, create an ongoing strategy, help with link building, help with sitemap creation and management (5 million + pages, primarily dynamic) and possibly help with content. Anyone have recommendations they could share? Thanks David

Is there a Step by Step Online Tutorial for SEOing?
Hi People I know this sounds like a real dumb question, but hey! I thought I would ask. I am a newbie, and after continuously spending $165.00/day for my PPC adwords campaign for the last 5 years, I MUST get my site naturally ranked higher. So as a newbie; yet understanding the basic principles about SEOing, I searched High and Low for an accredited course, an educational programme or anything that looked structured, and had a distinct step by step structure, and to my amazement I couldn't find much. I did find Dan Thiess' online guide, the SEOMOZ guide, and a few other bits n pieces. It appears that SEO learning is all over the place. I couldn't find any courses at the local universities either! So I thought...well what does it take to become an SEO consultant if there's no real formal qualification as such? And my answer was...Experience and proof of experience! That is, a consultant of who has been around for quite a few years and can prove to potential customers that ... hey you see this website www.????.com notice how it's ranked #1 ? That's because of me! So I thought, I would post this question to the forum and 1. See if there is some formidable training course with a valued and recognised qualification upon completion? 2. If I am able to work for a consultant at no charge to them at all in exchange for their knowledge. I have a wealth of experience in business and people management, and Yes I do have some Web Development and IT experience. But I know to some consultants this is a big ask, so I thought I would put it out there! (you never know until you ask.) In the meantime if anyone could possibly guide for a step by step program...that would be greatly appreciated. Cheers George

Looking for Freelance SEO'ers
Hi, I wouldn't normally post a request for freelancers here, but I noticed someone else has done it and its not against the rules! so here goes... We are looking for Freelancers to help with our work load. In particular we are searching for Link Builders who can establish links on various websites through the use of article writing/blog content posting and other methods. Also, we require general SEOs who can perform the usual technical tasks such as creating 301's, canonicals and SEO audit reports on client websites. Ideally we only want UK based, white hatters with at least 2 years SEO experience. Please pm me if this interests you. Thanks Aran

Punchy Friday: Too much SEO Education?
This is not a question really, just an observation. Yesterday I was listening to "Stuff You Should Know" podcast, and it was about "Tickling". They were addressing how it is impossible to tickle yourself, and they theorized it was because our brain is AWARE that it's your own hand doing the tickling. The first thought that came to my brain was that our brain had put a "NoFolow" link on the tickling page of our brain website when it is from our own hands. I'm reading WAY to much about SEO . . . Happy Friday everyone.
