SEOmoz metrics vs Panda Algorithm
-
Hey SEOmoz guys,
My question is simple.
Have you re-test your metrics (DA, PA, mR etc) correlation with SERPs in google panda update?
are they still valid in determining authority, trust and popularity in panda update?
are they still usefull?
Thanks!
Yudhis

Hi Yudhis,
With every update of our metrics, which is almost monthly, we adjust them to try and match what we are seeing in the SERPs. As always there are other factors that we might not be aware of that could effect things in the SERP you are looking at but we do readjust things with every update.

Hi Tyler,
Thanks for your reply. So i would like to change my question, how do you think about this metric in panda update?
IMHO, I notice that this metric is not really working anymore or they have less correlation with SERPs today.
The content farmer sites have great seomoz metric score, but they lose their keyword.
So do my website, yesterday when google panda rolled out world wide, i lose 60% my UV, and my long tail keyword drop from page 1 to page 3 or 4.
My metric was not too bad, i have DA 53, mR 6.10 dan mT 6.20.
My competitor SERPs who has less metric score than mine still on page 1.
So i conclude that this metric has less correlation in determining website quality in relation with google's high quality sites algorithm http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2011/04/high-quality-sites-algorithm-goes.html
Thats only my opinion. CMIIW.
Please share your opinion about this metric in panda algorithm..
Thanks in advance!

SEOmoz staff and associates do monitor the Q&A and often respond. I don't know the answer to this question, but I'll get someone who does know the answer to come in and contribute, as I'm sure others would like to know the answer. If you sent a tweet to @seomoz they're also likely to respond there.

Internal Links Data on OSE and poor ranking despite excellent metrics
Hi folks, I use OSE a lot for comparing where we stand against our competitors and I'm always surprised to see most of our competitors have loads more internal links than we do. For example, comparing 'www.kensyard.co.uk' with 'www.sterlingbuild.co.uk', we are better on every Root Domain Metric except for the Total Links metric and this is down to a much smaller number of internal links. They are ranking better than us in Google so I'm wondering if there is something wrong with the way our site is coded / structured that means Google and OSE are not picking up our internal link network properly? We have over nine times as many external root domains linking to our site than theirs, which is surely a far more valuable metric than internal links right? Or is there an issue with our internal link structure that is confusing Google and causing us to rank lower? Many thanks for any advice, Luke

Question about SEOMoz Pro and Root Domain vs. Subdomain tracking
I currently have two Pro campaigns set up. They are both tracking the root domains of two different e-commerce sites. I also am tracking three competitors for each company, in each campaign. I have those set up by subdomains, like so www.Competitor.com. So in my Historical link analysis I am getting MyRootDomain.com, compared to www.competitor1.com, www.competitor2.com and www.competitor3.com Is this a problem? Would it be better for me to switch my company campaigns to track subdomains too, or to switch my competitor tracking to root domains. This is probably pretty rudimentary, but it never even occurred to me until just now. I realize that if I switch to subdomains for my own company tracking this would necessitate setting up a completely new campaign. This would be a problem because I am maxed out on my 1,000 keywords. Last but not least, does the fact that I have been tracking my own site root domains compared to competitors subdomains mean all of my competitive domain and link analysis is, well, garbage?...because I haven't really been comparing the same things?

SEOmoz directory list, discussing individual directories...
It would be nice if the directory list (http://www.seomoz.org/directories) had an area to discuss each individual directory. Some of the directories like Internet Library have great domain authority, but have a large number of thumbs-down from users. I would like to know why. Personally, I'm very skeptical about directories. I'd love to prove myself wrong, though. The SEOmoz directory list in its current form isn't all that helpful.

SEOmoz toolbar log in chrome wonky!
In Chrome, I'll start off not logged in to the toolbar. I'll click log in which forwards me to the SEOmoz login page. I'll login. Sometimes the toolbar will reflect this login and the metrics will poplulate in the PA and DA, other times it won't. If I navigate to another page within the same tab, it may show metrics still, but it is also just as likely to show that I'm not logged in. If I open a new tab, the toolbar will show that I'm not logged in. I click the log in again but when directed to SEOmoz, it'll show that I'm already logged in. I haven't been able to pinpoint exactly when it'll work and when it won't. Seems a bit random, so am wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue and has been able to solve this logged in / not logged in problem. As a note, anytime I navigate back to the SEOmoz site, whether by opening a new tab or a new window, the SEOmoz site does show I'm logged in, while the toolbar shows I'm not. You can see a demonstration of the simultaneous logged in SEOmoz site and logged out SEOmoz toolbar in the attached screen shot. UPDATE Also having similar issues in firefox. Am wondering if this has anything to do with the fact that I changed my email address within the past few weeks. KQXxN.gif
