Can SEOMOZ do Local SEO ?
-
Most of our clients are local but we can not get local or regional (for example VA State or Washington DC) SERP results within SEOMOZ. it would be nice to create custom search profiles based on region (State or County) and track SERP within SEOMOZ. Ranking reports and even keyword difficulty analysis etc. within SEOMOZ are misleading for local web sites.
SEOMOZ default site setup assumes every business doing SEO serves all over the US. I think it will be very beneficial if we have a choice to select State or County of local web sites during initial campaing set up at SEOMOZ.
what do you think? do you know any work around of this problem?
Thanks,
Lewis -
Yes, Google allows you to change location but it seems like the search results are still different, probably because Google uses your IP address as a variable.
I use a VPN provider which has 50+ servers around the world and use their VPN servers as proxies.

Excuse me? All I said was I have our interns pull the rankings manually, not have them pulled by an automated tool.
How does that imply I need to grow up? You pull them manually in order to give the most accurate, non-national, non-personalized results.
I even agree with your post that things like SEOmoz' Keyword Difficulty tool is biased towards national brands as sometimes you're going to get geo-specific results that are augmented by Google Places and as it stands the current national rank checker isn't capable of capturing that data or adding in that zip code or city variable that pulls data to a specific set.
Not sure where your hostility is coming from at all.

Thanks Brian, very good input.
-
Thanks Gyorgy. I agree the cost will be too high to do this. I think we have to continue to use FF toolbar and create custom local search profiles and track the resulst manually so far. http://www.seomoz.org/blog/big-update-to-the-seomoz-toolbar-for-firefox
I heard AuthorityLabs is working on it (not 100% sure about it though)
-
What can I say Matt.. grow up and read my question again and answer if you can...
-
While I understand Gyorgys point, for what it's worth Google does allow you to change your location to see the results from other areas (see Change location link on left side). If in a new style of Campaign (Local Campaign) was made available, that paired that "Change location" functionality with: ( using Local Ranking Factors as a reference + Moz's own research)
- Ranking - Showing map and what position/pin you have for various local searches at that location
- Places Page Factors - Showing Errors/Warnings/Notices for the various Places page optimizations that can be done to a site
- On-Site Factors - Showing Errors/Warnings/Notices for the various on-site Local optimizations that can be done to a site
- Off-Site Factors - Showing Errors/Warnings/Notices for the various off-site Local optimizations that can be done to a site
Would it be a perfect solution?, perhaps not, but that would be a pretty powerful tool to have, and a very welcome addition to the Pro tool set here.
I have faith in Rand and the Moz Staff... something tells me they have been working on something like this for a while now Brian

I pull my local rankings locally. Or rather, our interns do.

Hi Lewis,
Tracking correct local search results requires proxies in every state and city which is a significant cost. Basically they need a proxy server in every city because Google identifies local searches on city and suburb level too. Having computers all over the US running keywords ranking reports is simply too expensive.
If they had proxies in every state, then which city should be targeted? For example: California. LA or San Francisco ?

Does CNAME impact SEO?
I've recently brought on Pardot. For Campaign ROI tracking, I'm supposed to add a CNAME (I'm using .go) with /source to each source of possible first touches, like Google My Business or an industry directory. For example, to track referrals and $ROI from a directory, I'm supposed to use go.myURL.com/directoryname. Does using go. and /source have a negative impact on my SEO? Thanks for your help.

Why does SEOMoz think I have duplicate content?
The SEOmoz crawl report shows me a large amount of duplicate content sites. Our site is built on a CMS that creates the link we want it to be but also automatically creates it's own longer version of the link (e.g. http://www.federalnational.com/About/tabid/82/Default.aspx and http://www.federalnational.com/about.aspx). We set the site up so that there are automatic redirects for our site. Google Webmaster does not see these pages as duplicate pages. Why does SEOmoz consider them duplicate content? Is there a way to weed this out so that the crawl report becomes more meaningful? Thanks!

SEO Yoast data export
Just thought I would give something back. (Is this the right place!) I use Wordpress with the excellent SEO Yoast plugin. I needed a way of extracting the focus keywords that I have entered onto my pages along with the url for use on the SEOmoz On-page Optimisation tool. So I created GetYoastData which outputs to the browser the required data (and a bit more) that can be saved into an csv (Excel) file. Hope you find it useful - Yes it's not polished and yes it might output a blank line now and again but it's fairly useful. http://deanandrews.uk/get-yoast-seo-data/

Hey from a New guy to SEO
Hi everybody!!! Hope everybody is dandy. Have spent a long time looking into SEOmoz and decided to just take the plunge and see what happens. Im quite new to the world of SEO but I really want to get good at it. Hoping Moz and this community will aid with this! Currently in the process of reading the SEO beginners guide and the SEOmoz user guide! The two sites that I am currently working on are: 1. www.advanced-incar.co.uk 2. www.advanced-incarcamerasystems.com The first site seems to have crawled well and have entered my competitors and am getting some info back (looks like I have a lot of work to do judging by the errors D'oh) In the world of Google what is the best way to ensure you have authority on certain terms. For instance if I search advanced-incar we are top and we have all our sitelinks underneath etc etc, but when I search advanced incar we are second and as such we don't display sitelinks. Any ideas? The second site was built using 1&1 and gives us a good little site for what we need. I have found out through research the most popular keywords are in car camera & in car cameras. Currently Im using Adwords to get us sponsored hits which is getting us some nice traffic but costing a bit. Those are the two main keywords i want this site to really hit home with. Any advice? Also on this site, when I go to SEOmoz and select Link Analysis I get no info. It just shows 0 or 0.0 wheras my competitor sites all have values against them. Is something wrong with my site or what im doing? (Have added an example screenshot) I appreciate its a long ended question but would really appreciate some help. Hoping that the guides will help me understand all this linkjuice stuff etc as well! Thanks guys, really appreciative of any info you can provide. Why did SEOMoz only crawl 1 page?
I have multiple campaigns and on a few of them SEOMoz has only crawled one page. I think this may have to do with how I set up the campaign. How do I get SEOMoz to crawl more than one page on these campaigns.

What's Your Thought About Market Samurai as An SEO Tool Compared to SEOMoz?
What is your opinion about Market Samurai tool as a SEO Tool? I have used it and found it good for analyzing the top 10 competition, getting anchor text profiles and so on. SEOMoz is cool, but has a lot more features. However it lacks keyword research tool. We really cant compare the two tools in terms of pricing because the cost of the MS tool for a lifetime is what will cost SEOMoz membership for a month. What;s your take on this?

Cant understand Seo moz analysis
Did a semoz analysis of site www.1stclassdriving.co.uk and it came up with 484 pages with duplicate titles and 484 with duplicate content. Also gave me a 531st ranking for search term "Driving Lessons" (with many smaller schools with better rankings)- so I think that I may have a problem 1-Duplicate titles - I have many area pages - one for each of the post codes that we cover (some 40 odd) Each page is titled "Driving Lessons in "xxx" where xxx is the area.
Moz Pro | | Brian_Worger
Plus each Instructor has their own page which is tiled "Driving Lessons in xxx" where xxx is the more local towns/areas covered.
Is this the use of the term Driving Lessons xxx on each page the problem? The report doesnt seem to make this clear -it simply lists each page on the site 2- Duplicate content puzzles me as the content does differ although each instructor page has probably 80% content derived from a master page. Attach screenshot - hope someone can help Many thanx Brian0
