Disabling Wordpress Attachment Posts
-
having issues with every media (photo) we upload creating an additional page on the blog that is being indexed in Google.
ie.
post: www.mysite.com/
creates this for the photo used: www.mysite.com/blog/category/image-name/attachment/800px/

have you tried to "disallow" google from crawling your images directory in your robots.txt file? If you get a lot of traffic from google image search you would probably not want to do this, but if the current problem you posted about is your #1 priority to fix, not allowing google to crawl your image directory should fix your problem.
-
the issue is the page generated for the image has all the exact same title info etc. and what were seeing is the attachment page in the SERP ranking right under or above the actual post with content. The user experience for the page with just the attachment/image with no content is not what we want.

But is it actually a problem?
If you give your images good titles and alt attributes, it can get picked up in image searches and be an additional way visitors can find you.

How to force Wordpress to remove trailing slashes?
I've searched around quite a bit for a solution here, but I can't find anything. I apologize if this is too technical for the forum. I have a Wordpress site hosted on Nginx by WP Engine. Currently it resolves requests to URLs either with or without a trailing slash. So, both of these URLs are functional:
mysite.com/single-post
and
mysite.com/single-post/
I would like to remove the trailing slash from all posts, forcing mysite.com/single-post/ to redirect to mysite.com/single-post. I created a redirect rule on the server: ^/(.*)/$ -> /$1 and this worked well for end-users, but rendered the admin panel inaccessible. Somewhere, Wordpress is adding a trailing slash back on to the URL mysite.com/wp-admin, resulting in a redirect loop. I can't see anything obvious in .htaccess. Where is this rule adding a trailing slash to 'wp-admin' established? Thanks very much

Clarification from old seomoz post
I would need clarification from an old seomoz post - http://www.seomoz.org/q/rankings-changing-based-on-location-within-a-country-normal Particulary the following part - If you type in "Clear browser cache", Google KNOWS what browser you are using and can add the "Firefox" term in on your behalf, without it being apparent to the user What does it mean ? Thanks
