Links on the same keyword
-
When is linking from one particular keyword to much. At what point could link building from one keyword be considered spam and potentially delist a site ?
Is it possible for a site to be delisted for having to many links from the same keyword ?
Heard linking from the website name is more important following recent changes. I try and link from a selection of 3 to 4 keywords.
Thanks for your help

I wouldn't go so far as to call the extra links spam. They are not helpful to SEO. They just add extra links to your page.
If you sincerely believe they are helpful for users, then leave them. Otherwise, I would recommend removing them.

so would the extra two links potentially be classed as spam ?

No, as Ryan initially said, Google will only count the first anchor text to a page that it reads in the code of your page. If you link to that page from your main navigation their is a good chance Google will use that, however if you don't link to that page in your nav, then it would probably count the first link within your blog post/article.
This is old, but covers the basics:

but marc the question is could you -
link these keywords from one blog post or article to that one page ? So these three keywords linked from one article.
What would you think about that ?

Anchor text using those variations makes perfect sense.
If you had a page targeting each of those terms I would doubt the quality and need for each of those pages from a user perspective + you would need a lot of link equity to push them all. Combining them makes for a more powerful kick a$$ page which has more anchor text diversity and looks more natural.

good tip on the company name I have made some adjustments on some incoming links.
One example I want to put to you guys -
I have a blog article and I link the words -
printer ink
ink cartridges
and printer ink cartridges to the same page. Is this advised or would you not do more than one link to the same page. I welcome your opinions.
Thanks

Solid advice from Ryan from an on-site (internal linking) perspective.
In terms of off-site (link building) practices this is not a simple question and probably differs per industry and SERP. You should probably go off and do some competitor analysis. View the top 10 results for the keyword you are concerned about and run each result through OSE. Look through the 'anchor text distribution' tab for each result and see how often they use that particular anchor text, how much branded anchor text they use and other keyword variations. This should give you a good idea as to what your link landscape looks like in terms of anchor text usage.
A few things I would think about:
- You already mention using 'branded' anchor text - Do this and do it often. Even mix it with your target keyword anchor text i.e. Keyword + by Brand Name or Keyword + from Brand Name. But definitely be sure to get lots of links with just your brand name or url.
- In my opinion, if you view the anchor text distribution tab in OSE for your site and Branded Anchor Text tops the list then you are in a safe postion. If you open that tab up and all you see is a list of exact match anchor text for money keyterms then you are probably at risk. Be aware that bigger more established brands can get away with more.
Is it possible for a site to be delisted for having to many links from the same keyword ?
Yes, you can definitely receive a penalty or filter via over-opitmization of anchor text and this is something very easy for search engines to spot. So be sure to vary your anchor text and keep it looking natural. -
I would only provide one link on a given keyword per page. SEs will only evaluate the first link to a given URL on a page, and a selected keyword should always be linking to the same URL throughout your site.
So the specific answer I would offer is once per page that the keyword appears on. For example most sites have a "Home" link in their navigation bar. That link will appear on every page of their site and it works fine.
You can alter the keyword or phrase and provide links to other pages. You can send "cars" to one URL, sports cars to another and luxury cars to a third URL and so forth without any concern. You don't want your page to look like a collection of links. As long as you do it in a quality manner you should be fine.

Outgoing links
Hi Guy's, We have a website with no outgoing links (only Facebook). Is this a good way to score better in the SERPS? Or is it better to have some outgoing "relevant" links for a natural linkjuice? Thanks!

A Big Shout To Everyone -- Good Morning and What's Up 🙂 As I read today through seomoz professional guide to link building and the section why link building matters and in addition to this a newsletter I received today that changed my whole thinking towards link building for rankings vs for relationships. It is already happening on social networks if you are active there, but what about on your website. What are your thoughts on the following ? Google's job is provide the most relevant results to surfers online, and looking the link profile of a site & the page itself is the key to determining which page to serve on plate to the surfers link query ! The idea... is to apply old school networking / relationship building alliances to get targeted traffic to my site that can actually benefit from my services. How Do We Achieve This I become a editor for approving resource links for me site, only the best will be placed on my site as a resource. Build a valuable tightly themed categorized resource section with related non competing resources that can help my sites visitors find what they are looking for, send visitors to non competing resources that may purchase their services which helps me build a relationship with them, and may can with rankings as well, provided I am selective with my qualification process. Questions & Concerns Below : What should I be thinking about when creating a resource categorized links page How many outgoing do follow links should I allow from this links partner page How will this links resource page affect my own SE 1st Page Rankings and is it worth it based on getting targeted traffic Any pros / cons I may be missing here0 -
Link Location: In main page or inner "Link" page?
My question is what´s best of Link Building: have it in main page or in internal Link Pages. I have the problem that have to reduce the number of outgoing links in my mainpage to rank better, but do not want to miss any linkjuice. How Linking in Main Page or Internal Pages affects SERP for your website? And should they be Follow or not Follow? Thanks in advance Maria Jesus

Article Links
I write and publish artcles. Typically I publish them on a few top article sites like EZineArticles. The articles then get picked up by other sites, often numbering in the hundreds. All of the articles are published with a link back to our website using a keyword. Are there any SEO risks in this type of link proliferation?
