Best keyword research tool
-
Okay, what is the BEST keyword research tool?
I've heard all across the board, but I'm looking for preferrably a free tool, but just want to use one that can do competitive research, as well as find me a ton of long tail.
-
I was not pleased with Spyfu. Though their Recon reports look great, as they provide data on how much you profit is to be had by ranking higher on certain terms.
I am looking forward to using the SEOmoz reports and adding in Adgooroo's Tornado reports (which also supply missed profit) for clients.
-
I have used all the tools mentioned above, but what I'm impressed is that AdGooroo is the only one that offers multi-market, mutli-search engine reports but their reporting suite is pretty basic.
-
Wordtracker is also a tool that hasn't been mentioned yet. It is paid, but looks at keywords a different way and usually includes ideas for me that I have not previously thought of or discovered using SEOmoz's tools or Google Adword's Keyword Tool.
-
Couldn't install it as it says it's not compatible with firefox 5.0
-
When you say SEOmoz tool, do you mean Competitive Link Research Tool?
-
I also use the free KeywordSpy plugin
-
Pretty much the same... I use SEOmoz tool, Keywordspy and Adwords
-
The three I use are the SEOmoz tool, Spyfu, and the google adwords tool. I'm looking forward to see what everyone else uses!
Edit: To clarify I'm talking about the term extractor specifically, but all the keyword tools can help steer your keyword strategy.

No SERPs contains my keyword phrase
Hi! I have a question that is the best described by an concrete example: When I use Google UK and search for a keyword "wood floor" why the top 100 search results show pages for "wood flooring" instead? Is it because that keyword is simply more popular and pages are in general better optimized for "flooring"?

Sudden keyword rankings drop
Hi, My latest MOZ report has indicated there has been a significant drop in ranking for 65 keywords, some by as much as 30 places. This is not something I have experienced before and seems very drastic. Is there a reasonable explanation or fix for this? Thanks for any advice!

What are SEO's using for Keyword Research?
Hey folks, I just wanted to find out what everyone is using for keyword research now that the Google Keyword Tool has been retired. I know there is a form of it in Adwords, but something a little more usable than this. Cheers,

How reliable is GWT's keyword data & what is the most accurate way of determining keywords you currently rank for?
I have been monitoring the query data (keywords, average position, CTR, etc.) in GWT, but sometimes the ranking data seems off. I filter the dates for the past week, so it is the most recent. I manually check some of the rankings and they are way off. Does anyone have feedback on this? If you have access to multiple domain data, that would be great. What is the most accurate way of determining keywords you currently rank for? I have also used keywordspy, and that is off too!

Trying to avoid Keyword Cannibalization
I have a navigation menu at the top of my page with drop down menus that lead to different pages of my web site. Very typical navigation. If I have a page that is optimized for a particular keyword, lets say "Awesome Blue Widgets", do I want to remove that link from the navigation menu on the page awesome-blue-widgets.htm since the link uses the keyword phrase "Awesome Blue Widgets'?

Keyword domain names
My two best key words are "gps tracking" and "vehicle tracking". For the Irish market I have got the two domain names: www.vehicletracking.ie www.gpstracking.ie Have a very poor landing page on www.vehicletracking.ie and just redirecting www.gpstracking.ie to our site. I am wondering what I should do thie these two assets? Should I be running them as micro sites? re directing them? Or something else? Let me know what you think. Andrew
