CSV export of Open Site Explorer is incomplete.
-
I exported my back links report from the Open Site Explorer toolbar as a CSV but the file it showed was only about 400 urls. The tool bar is listing over 1,200 links, so at first I thought maybe it was only exporting one link for each unique domain, but it only lists 200 or so unique domains linking to my site. I know it will only export 10,000 urls, but obviously I'm significantly below this level.
Here is a link to a competitors site which is having the same issue.
http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links?site=www.zoobooks.comListing about 900 links and only generating about 500 in the CSV report.Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Brian,
So sorry that you didn't get a response before now. I've seen another report of this in Q&A as well. The help desk staff generally doesn't hang out in Q&A, which is why you didn't get an answer from them here. Can you please email them at help@seomoz.org with this information and open a ticket so they can work on fixing this glitch? Thanks!
Martijn Scheybeler does report in the other question that
What "worked" for me was waiting for a minute and re trying to download the export. Most times the second attempt was successful. It's just a work around eventually.
I would also recommend reporting this to the Moz team so they will have more user data to solve this problem.

Open Site Explorer detects links from a site that redirects to it? How is this possible?
I was checking external links to a site: scte-brasilien.de/ and was wondering why there are so many links pointing from another domain (reisen-nach-brasilien.com/) although it redirects to scte-brasilien.de/? So when checking the redirecting domain OSE knows its redirecting... The URL you've entered redirects to another URL. We're showing results for scte-brasilien.de/ since it is likely to have more accurate link metrics. See data forreisen-nach-brasilien.com/ instead? How is this possible? best regards

Open Site Explorer - Image Anchor Text
Hey there. I'm researching internal links and In my report I get alot of image links with the following text in the Link Anchor Text column: (img alt)(img)[No Anchor Text]. Is it because my images don't have alt-text or something else... How to optimize correctly? See attached screenshot. Best regards K87xLN8

Open Site Explorer results vs. Google Webmaster Tools results
I've been comparing the links to my domain that OSE and GWT show and GWT shows many more links than OSE. Can anyone explain the difference? Does Google report no follow links that OSE does not?

Opensite explorer issues still there
Hi I asked a question a few weeks ago regarding the linkings being shown in opensite explorer showing crazy stuff like psds and odd file formats as being the source of the links. I was told it was being repaired , the results were almost useless and I stopped using , I have just logged back in to check again and see even more random odd results with sites that would have no reason to link to us. Is this tool ever going to be repaired ? Is there a ETA for the fix ? How come you are launching new tools when the existing ones dont work ? Kind Regards

Why does open site explorer show me Chinese characters?
Hi there, When using open site explorer to check the anchor text for www.bookvictoriafalls.com I see Chinese characters as anchor text. However, when I do the same for www.bookvictoriafalls.com/ I see normal English anchor text. Coincidentally this domain has dropped from first page rankings to outside the top 50. Is this a spam issue? Open-Site-Explorer.png
