How long till you rank for your domain name?
-
Hi everybody!
Say you have a domain like stocktips.com - how long would you estimate it'll take to rank for it's name?
Thank you,
Alex
-
I believe new domain names usually take 2 months (average) to "age". Beyond that, your ability to rank will rely on standard seo ranking factors.
-
You have to analyze your competitor to have an idea about the time, you need to do good SEO and produce good content, the domain exact match is a ranking factor but not the only
-
Thanks Nicholas,
Yes the domain has no content at the moment - we'll be working on that soon.
I know it's impossible to get an exact quote, I'm more interested in your estimations so I can compare with my estimations
Thanks again!

Well stocktips.com doesn't seem to be a valid site, so there is no content to crawl.
If you're speaking in generalities (based on an exact match domain example), then if you do all your on page optimization, have decent content, and start getting links, you should start seeing your site in top SERPs in a few months. If you do the work.
I had a client with an exact match, good on-page, a few natural external links and a couple blog articles and they were on the first page of the SERP after about 3 months.
Bottom line is that no one can tell you how long it will take, because it depends on the competitiveness of the term, if someone is doing SEO better than you, then they will out-rank you.

Correction: my question should be this:
How long do you estimate it'll take to rank for the key words: "stock tips" with the domain stocktips.com?
Thank you!
-
Oh, maybe my question is unclear:
Indexing is one and actual ranking for the terms "stock tips" is another thing.
I hope this clears my question
Thanks!

Your site will be indexed shortly after search engines become aware it exists. You can help by submitted a sitemap to Google and Bing. Once you submit the sitemap you should have your first crawl within a day. You should also register with Google and Bing's Webmaster Tools.

Ranking for keywords in multiple zip codes
Hello, We are trying to rank for keywords locally. We are on the edge of four zip codes in our area and are competing with businesses in those zip codes. Should we track each keyword separately for each zip code, or just one zip code we're in?

Keyword Ranking
I would like to understand how to search for all instances where Johansens is on the 1st page of Google (US/UK) for any keywords that have Portugal, Lisbon or Algarve in them i.e. "luxury hotels portugal". Is there an easy/automated way to do such a search? Many thanks for your support, Doug

Should I keep knowitall.biz domain name?
Basically wondering whether or not to keep this domain or start SEO with a new domain. The product is a tool that is somewhat comparable to evernote. Basically you can use this instead of searching your email (inefficent, and badly designed for storing personal/biz info). It is a tool that we developed in house for ourselves before evernote was around. At this point I need to figure out which keywords to target, so any suggestions with that would be much appreciated too!! Dave2

Title Tag & Ranking Improvement....
Hi I have a dilema that I could do with some help with please. I am working on a site and its home page is ranking on the second page of google position 2 (12) for a term such as [Portrait Photographer London] The title tag I am using for this homepage is "Portrait Photographer | Clients Brand Name" ( which does NOT include the word "photography / photographer") The reason why I used this term for the home page is eventually I would like to rank in the top 3 (I'm ambitious) for [Portrait Photographer] so I left out the location on the home page as I have an about us page where I have the title tag "Portrait Photographer London | Clients Brand Name" this is currently ranking on page 3 position 3 (33) for a term such as [London Portrait Photographer] I'm wondering if including the location would help move my client up any? So it would be: "Portrait Photographer London | Clients Brand Name" and the keyword I want move up for is [Portrait Photographer London] Hope this makes sense

Google Keyword tool data + No. 1 Serp rank =/= to taffic on landing page
So a keyword we are targeting "painted bedroom furniture" google keyword tool says gets 480 exact local searches (and 880 broad), and in the same local google we have ranked 1st for months (and currently we are 2nd and 3rd too), but looking at the google analytics that landing page has only gotten 78 unique page views from searches and only 21 from "painted bedroom furniture" . (the 2nd link gets 12 page views and the 3rd gets none, from that keyword) Now for me that does not make sense! For other keyword which we rank No.1 the keyword data and analytics generally match/make sense. Is there something I'm missing?

2 almost identical key-phrases with opposite ranking trajectories
I recently checked rank-tracking of a client's search-phrases. In Google UK variations of 2 almost identical search phrases dropped 30 places for one of these and jumped 30 places for the other. The only difference between the 2 phrases being the site's location (city) was placed first in phrase A and last in Phrase B. There were no technical or content changes on-site- How can this be?
