Re-designed website... how to increase organic traffic?
-
We re-developed our website (adboards(dot)com) around 6 months ago.
This has in turn led to a downturn in sales/visits. We have managed to get visits/sales increasing steadily but not to the level of the previous site. Even though we believe the new site is (seems) much more friendly both for SEO and potential customers.
We currently run a PPC campaign which seems to bring in steady sales, the problem seems to be our organic traffic and getting our keywords ranked higher. We have tried various methods for increasing our organic traffic including:-
- Keyword Analysis for our landing pages
- Backlinking: From various directories and industry related sites
- Googlebase submission
- Blog relating to industry news & products
Any advise on which area we should be focusing on or any obvious errors you can see on the site would be greatly appreciated.
-
I took a quick look at your site and I see a couple of problems right off.
-
both www and non-www display. Decide which you want to use, and write a redirect to the proper version (let us know if you'd like help figuring out how to do that).
-
You may have duplicate content problems beyond just the non-www and www. How much of your product descriptions are taken straight from the manufacturer? The first product that I randomly tried had the exact same description in Amazon. The search engines don't want to show results from 20 domains that are products with identical descriptions.
Also, did you redo any URLs and possibly forget to redirect pages? Look at your server error log or in Google Webmaster Tools and SEOmoz tools for 404s and redirect pages as appropriate.
Other people will likely have additional suggestions, but here are a couple to get you started.

Should Mobile Header Design Use Big White Area for Large Male Thumbs when 65% + of Visitors are Male?
About 65% of our visitors are male. Consultant "A" produced design "A" (see attached). This design incorporates large white areas so there there is sufficient space for male visitors with larger fingers. Consultant "A" also was of the opinion that the menu "hamburger" bar should have the word "menu" under it and that displaying it would increase conversions. Consultant "B" is of the opinion that displaying as much content above the fold is key to maximizing conversions. They believe that we don't have to use so much space between elements and that the word "Menu" is not necessary to display beneath the hamburger. I have enclosed design "B" from consultant "B". Personally I prefer the 2nd design, however I understand that conversion is down to a science and there are certain accepted protocols and standards that serve to increase conversions. Does anyone have opinion as to which of the 2 attached designs would work best for conversions? Thanks,

Increase conversion rate to buy
I am trying to understand why my women fashion site has a very low conversion, basically zero apart from some occasional sales (last one a few months ago) There is a lack of organic traffic the to shop subdomain, but what worries me is that (email/social media) campaigns to existing clients who happily buy repeatedly from our brick and mortar store do not generate results, despite using promotion codes etc. Before investing heavily in PPC campaigns etc, I'd like to improve conversion. Any advice on what can be improved ? PD: link can be found in my profile.

Tracking Organic Seach Queries From GA to Companies
Okay, so this is a kinda ridiculous, long shot whim du jour. But it's so intriguing I can't resist. Last week, GA reveals that my client had 6 queries (vs. 0 since the beginning of time) in the format: Large Red Widgets #3 in Obscure Suburb (of my client's head office) Large Red Widgets #3 just happen to be expensive and profitable. My question: is there a snowball's chance in hell of tracking this query any further? I'll take what I can get -- since not many people are interested in red widgets #3 in said obscure suburb. I'd like enough info so a sales rep can follow up. These folks are not shy. Thoughts? Next steps? Idiot proof instructions on where specifically to look in GA?

How to track full path of website visitors until conversion, not just landing page?
hi, This is my first question in the forums and I'm looking forward to be part of a great SEO community. I was wondering ow to track full path of website visitors until conversion, not just landing page? I've been using Wordpress jetpack site stats for while, which shows great data like keywords used in google, landing page etc. But I would like to have access to the full path for each separate visitors (including their IP address and country is possible) to improve my website and conversions. Example: step 1: Visitor X types "seo" on Google step 2: visitor lands on my homepage step 3: visitor visits to order page and buys Is there such tool available as a Wordpress plugin? Or do I have to use Google analytics for this? thank you for your help, Marc
