    Hi Guys I have a very good client with whom we have been working with for over 2 years. When we 1st arrived, their website was built in Wordpress. During our SEO, the dleted the site and changed it to Drupal over night. Youc an imagin i went balistic and its been a horrid year in getting all the rrors down and redirects etc. Finally done I have just been informed that they will be deleting the website from Drupal to Joomla again! This is crazy as we have finally fix all the rrors and are driving quality traffic to the site. Now its back to square one... What do i do? ps the change from Drupal to Joomla is due to MYSQL issues

    The system says I have two duplicate page titles. The page titles are exactly the same because the two URLs are exactly the same. These same two identical URLs show up in the Duplicate Page Content also - because they are the same. We also have a blog and there are two tag pags showing identical content - I have blocked the blog in robots.txt now, because the blog is only for writers. I suppose I could have just blocked the tags pages.

    Amateur hour over here, and I'd appreciate a kick in the right direction! I've done a fairly good job link building organically, but I need to start ranking better so I can actually have a good shot at catching up with my competitors. I've contacted companies that perform SEO work, and each one of them has said that link building is one of the most important things that can be done to increase page ranking on SERPs. For a set amount of money each month (in one instance, $6,000/month), they promised me many quality links with keywords in the anchor text and on the first page of SERPS for those keywords against competitors who have Domain Authority of 65+. How can they possibly do this? I've tried doing research into how they can get so many quality links, and I have a theory: these SEO companies have a very large network of websites they work with. The SEO groups charge me money, and in turn pays this network of websites to create pages that link to my website using desired anchor text. Additionally, perhaps the SEO companies have a network of websites that they actually own and simply create new articles about your company and link to it. Is this how it's done? Is this how SEO companies actually operate? And if so, isn't this technically black hat SEO seeing as the customer is paying for links (from what I've read, Google hates this). Could it be possible that if I pay for these links, and Google somehow found out about it, I could really pay the consequences later on? Appreciate any insight you can give me before I spend any money on SEO work. Thanks so much! I'm a new user and really, really like this community!

    I am going to send referrals to SEOMOZ and I want to put a badge on my site with my referral link from this page: http://www.seomoz.org/users/referrals Can you make some banners where we can just select an image src with a call to action like "FREE SEO Tools" and "Free 30 Day Trail"? Currently the only badges I see say something wack like "I Love SEOMOZ" http://www.seomoz.org/dp/badges I need something that converts higher than "I love SEOmoz".     I have a friend who owns an IT business in Pennsylvania.  I have been on the adwords tool begging for keywords that people are searching for and I am getting no search results at all.  I have tried all types of combinations- IT consultant Pennsylvania IT consultant PA network solutions pennsylvania computer tech pennsylvania ...and many variations thereof.  Does this mean that maybe just no one looks for this type of business on google?  What would you guys do in this situation?     I am creating a forum.  I am concerned that when I create the forum, users will copy content from other places to post onto my forum. How negative/bad is this in terms of google eyes? I am concerned when people copy press releases and re-post it to the forum. Should I make a rule that all content must be typed and not copied? Or is a little copying okay?

    Hello all.  This is my first interaction with SEOmoz, and I am still in my learning phases.  I currently own a lawn fertilization company near Allentown, PA.  I do the site for myself, and I am ranked number one for organic lawn care for my cities.  My question may seem kind of elementary, but I just want to clear this up for myself.  I want to start a side business doing SEO, and from what I gather step one is keyword research.  I plan on building new sites to start as opposed to going in and fixing existing ones.  So, I've been reading a lot on how to do keyword research and so forth.  I will use my current business as a reference for my question.  Should my main keywords be along the lines of "lawn care" and "lawn services", and then the location specific stuff be seperate?  Or should my main keywords be "lawn care allentown, pa"?  I plan on running my business solely for local businesses, so I am not to interested in competing with the entire world for keywords.  I just wasn't sure how to differentiate my keyword research for local business.  I hope that question made some sense.  I am really starting to grasp the elements of SEO, but for some reason the keyword part of things perplexes me.  Thanks for any responses!

    I've recently taken over a site from another agency, which has hundreds of linking root domains. These domains are of very low quality and, in my opinion, are being ignored by Google. Is it best to 'clean up' some of these links, or leave them and start building quality links? I just don't want to waste time cleaning link profiles if there's no need.

    Hello all: You probably noticed Google showing product prices in SERP snippets and this did not do us well because there was a noticable drop off in click throughs to the site with the price displaying in snippet. So we're replacing them with graphic prices instead. Does anyone see a problem with that in as far as how Google ranks our pages? Thanks!

    I have an image that represents 'widgets'. The image works for more than one kind of widget. I have two pages, one optimized for 'blue widgets' and one optimized for 'red widgets'. I would like to use the same 'widgets' image on both pages but change the alt text to be 'blue widgets' or 'red widgets' depending on the page it is used on. Should I: (1) use the same image on different pages with different alt text. (2) duplicate the image file and have two copies 'red_widgets.jpg' and 'blue_widgets.jpg' and then use each copy on the page optimized for the corresponding phrase. (3) create distinct, unique image files (where the pixels are different, not just the file names) for each kind of widget. This is a simplified example of a larger SEO problem where I have 1 image that can be useful on 20 pages that are each optimized for 20 different phrases. Should I use the same image with 20 different alt tags, or create 20 identical (but renamed) copies of the image, or create 20 slightly different image files (with different pixels in each image)?     Hey Everyone... Just got a quick question I haven't really ever found a straight answer to.  I have a sports blog.  Part of the blog is writing my own articles and the other part is putting together posts that have a collection of links to other good articles.  An example post link is below. http://frogfanreport.com/tcu-news/frog-fan-tcu-news-links-1612/ The question is whether I should be setting these posts as NOFOLLOW? During football season I have a link collection post daily but during the off-season i may post every couple of days. zach

    Today, we have way too many links on our homepage. About 30 of them are add-to-basket links (regular html links) pointing to a separate application. This application 302 redirects the client back to the referring page. I have two questions: 1. Does the current implementation of our buttons dilute pagerank? Bear in mind the 302 redirect. 2. If the answer to the first question is yes, would transforming the buttons into form buttons change anything to the better? We would still 302 back to the referring page. I know Gbot follows GET forms and even POST forms, but does GBot pass on pagerank to the form URL?

By helping us resolve this problem you are helping us in the cause of internet freedom. If you search for "great firewall" or "great firewall of china", would you be interested in finding a database of what websites and searches are blocked by this Great Firewall of China? We have been running a non-profit project with this objective for almost a year and in so doing have created the biggest and most updated database of online censorship in China. Yet, to this date, you cannot find it in Google by searching for any relevant keywords. A similar website, www.greatfirewallofchina.org, is listed as #3 when searching for "great firewall". Our website provides a more accurate testing tool, as well as historic data. Regardless of whether our service is better, we believe we should at least be included in the top 10. We have been testing out an Adwords campaign to see whether our website is of interest to users using these keywords. For example, users searching for "great firewall of china" end up browsing on average 2.62 pages and spending 03:18 minutes on the website. This suggests to us that our website is of interest to users searching for these keywords. Do you have any idea what the problem could be that is grave enough to not even include us in the top 100 for these keywords?     Hello, I received a crawl diagnostic report for the website http://www.advancedemt.com here's what it said: Issue: (301 redirect) Page Title URL:http://advancedemt.com/ Redirects to:http://http://www.advancedemt.com/ I called seohosting.com for help: They checked my .httaccess file and did not find anything that would cause this  301 redirect.. Cpanel was evaluated for a 301 redirect and nothing there either. MyPHP Admin was checked for anything that could possibly cause this issue. They had a tech search the entire database and no luck on any issue that may be causing the SEOmoz software to pick up this 301 redirect. We checked the Wordpress settings... No discrepancies. Wordpress permalinks... No problems..... We checked Google to see if they may have indexed the site for the error with no luck... I told the SEO Hosting staff that the canonical feature that has been built into Wordpress would prevent this redirect from allowing Google to index the site with this error. Is it possible that the crawl diagnostics is wrong??? Please help... Best regards, Jeff Bratcher (404) 520-2385

    I distribute a product in the US and I do my own product shoots.  Some distributors in other countries use my images.  I don't mind them using my images, but I would like for them to include all the IPTC data such as copyright and my URL.  Is there any SEO benefit to me if these images on other sites include my URL, etc. Best,

    Doing research on new client's links. Found 151 linking root domains all from same interlinking scam. Here are duplicated domains for one site (not my client) on his scam: DrainageHouston.com, patiosandponds.net, patioshouston.net, houstonlandscape.org, drainagehouston.com, houstonoutdoorlighting.com. I have attached an img. showing these in OSE with each having a www and a non www linking to the site. Note: When I found this it was by checking other domains they owned that they did not know had sites on them. They literally were all cloned with other domain names. We took the three additional sites and did 301 redirects from those to main site. Since there were only three additional and only about 30 pages per, I do not see it as a problem with redirect. So the question is: By doing this without preferred domain and 301 in .htaccess of non-www to www, is he able to double his dubious enterprise?

    We took on a new client about two weeks ago, took them off a proprietary CMS, placed them on a WordPress site, optimized the site, etc. and were finishing up small details three days ago. My PC in my personal office all of a sudden would not load the site from a Google search, from a direct url, etc. 
    Our office was using a D-Link wireless router but my PC is hardwired in the office. I cranked up my MacBook Pro with solid state drive (6 months old), got on wireless, and....site would not load. PC's and Macs in offices around me would all load the site. A search online brought up a fix for the PC and tried it - did not work, had lead dev try it - did not work, called a server side friend and he had never heard of such a thing. Every fix revolved around changing IP addresses, etc. I uninstalled my antivirus programs on my PC, installed every update that was outstanding, there was no new software installed on either box prior to problem. Can you help??? Is there any chance someone not associated with us and just looking for my client or someone entering a direct url could experience?

    I'm currently hosting with Hostgstor and was pleased with the service untl my site started to get big enough to run into problems. The unlimited bandwidth and unlimited disk space sounds attractive but they don't tell you that they throttle your database connections. Now that I have grown my site to the point where I am getting a few thousand visitors per day I am starting to have issues. I had an article get really popular and the server couldn't handle it. I'm looking for a host that will tolerate some spikes in traffic. (it's ok if I get charged more). I've heard good things about Pair hosting and I'll likely go with them but I thought I'd ask for a few more opinions first. Thanks!

We're looking at using iframes for the widget and I'm concerned that this means I won't be able to get any SEO juice out of each widgets that are implemented on users' blogs.     I'm fairly new to the whole SEO and link building scene so I'm trying to get a handle of high value, low value, and negative value links.  For example, I had a discussion with my boss on the idea of affiliating our e-commerce site with Amazon.   From a business standpoint, it'd probably increase sales.
