Social Media Plugins advice - Google+ Pages - what is best for SEO?
-
I'm seeking some social media plugin advice, in relation to SEO. This may not be possible to answer yet, or ever? But it could be worth a discussion.
As far as i can see, there are two main forms of plugins (taking facebook as an example):
- 1 that directly connects a user to your brand page on said platform (eg like us on facebook)
- 1 that allows a user to 'like', 'share', 'recommend' the page that you are on as a sign of respect and/or sharing content
For a home page, I am confused as to which one to use, without filling out the whole page with plugins.
One objective is to increase fan numbers, the other is to increase content sharing, and possibly SEO? I've noticed that Google has been returning some personalised results based on mine, or my google+ connections +1's.
So to the question...
Do you think having more fans on the new Google Pages for business accounts will improve SEO to the same, if not higher weighting than a +1 does? and therefore is it more important to get more brand page followers, or +1's of the homepage?

I simular to john here. dont go ugly trying to cater for social media.
Is you industry one that is going to benifit from social media would be my first question.
Then if you decide it is, I would not have any link that is goiong to take users away from your page. A simple like button, OK -
Design and usability (and taste) become an issue when there are bottons and blinking arrows everywhere....the content gets lost. I use social markers on pages with videos only. Such as Benjamin Moore Paint Dealer or Golf Tournament

You should'nt choose, a facebook page widget, g+ and twitter follow button can be nicely put in a custom box for example. Sharing buttons on all pages is a great way to show google your "social rank" there are indicators that the google algorithm is using social shares to rank results.
With the new google update they even read facebook comment widget.

What are your experiences with Google+?
Hi all, It would be great to hear about your experiences with Google+. We've tried a few times to use it in the hope that it might give us a hand in SEO terms but it has been utterly painful. Not only because the UI is almost impossible to figure out, but because engagement is essentially 0. Perhaps we're doing something wrong. How has it gone for you? Ross

Google + Business Page Custom url -too-spammy-long-url?
Hi to all, Ok so I was offered a custom url from Google Plus, greatly appreciated. Yet do you go ahead and add keywords when prompted? I mean if its your business page, and Google says you MUST add some sort of number or letter behind your custom url, do you add some keywords? Like ford for example sake. Would it be smart to put google.com/+ford-mustag-f350 So you add a couple of hyphens, and a few keywords? I understand the principle of shorter is better. But if your url is already like 15 characters, does a few more hurt? Or is it useless? Another example: Your Google page is tv repair man. Your Google offered url is google.com/+Tvrepairman But again it says you must add a number or letter etc. So do you add like your location? so tvrepairman-colorado or maybe no hyphen? Or go farther and go with tvrepairman-colorado-springs-co My point is, I am lost. It seems like for now its a one and done. You mess it up, your stuck with it for a while, and I cannot find any ideas online on how to work this. Maybe because its common sense, but just looking for some friendly and honest advice. Chris

How does knowing SEO benefit a consultant in social media
Hi Mozers I'm in the process of trying to secure a client that requires social media expertise. I want to be able to use my SEO knowledge as a benefit. I am struggling to explain in simple terms how a knowledge of SEO underpins a good Social Media campaign. Does anyone know of any good resources I can work through to communicate this issue effectively?

Authorship without Google+ - Ideas and strategies
Hi everyone, I am currently coaching several companies on Content Marketing, Authorship etc and how to implement these techniques at an institutional level - more here. My question is - Can an author reap the benefits of authorship in all search engines simultaneously without linking to Google + and becoming entangled in the Google Circles phenomena? I know don't laugh. 🙂 I know it seems like an ignorant question, but there must be a way. Is there a possibility of doing this with Author Schema's http://schema.org/Article? Will Google treat them the same way as Google +? My clients are not happy about getting so entangled with Google + and leaving out the other search engines. Thanks Carla

Client Doesn't Know Google+ Brand Page Manager Login - How to Recover
Hello - I'm working with a client who has a complete Google+ Brand profile setup for their business, but cannot locate the google+ login associated with the management duties of that page. Is there a way to track down or at least to see who the page owner is and their associated email address?

Facebook Pages - Best to have one page or multiple pages when a company has multiple locations?
I'm working with a business that has multiple locations (13) in several different states. Is it best practice to have one central FB page for the company and/or separate location pages? It's for a self storage company that does not have one central phone number, so each location would have separate information listed on the page. They do have a central website with different pages for each location. I'd love to hear the communities thoughts on the best way to handle this.

Is it okay to have different gmail ids for Google plus and Google webmaster tools?
It was good until I have had this new website where Google plus has got an active account but under different id and the site has got its analytics and webmaster tools account set under another id. If I simply verify the site, will it be able to track authorship and social signals? Your opinions, help and guidance will be appreciated
