How do you submit US based news on Google News US from the UK?
-
How do you go about submitting US news (based in the UK) to get indexed on Google News and show up in the US rather then the UK?
-
nocando as far as i know. you might be ranking in G-news US if the content is relevant locally.
When submitting your site go G-News you can chose some local preferences. These will matter (as well as location of servers). If you're not based in the US, you should still be able to rank with relevant articles, though the competition is definitely tougher there than in the UK.
I have similiar issues with Germany and Switzerland (both in German): Lots of German sites can rank in G-News Switzerland. Swiss pages have a harder time to rank in Germany (probably due to harder competition and better-linked sites in Germany) - but they do appear, when relevant.

Google suggesting a translation
Hi everybody, I notice since some months that Google when used for german language results proposes a translation next to the listing of one of my websites. When searching for english results (hl=en) it does not propose a translation! My website is clearly in german (given as target in GWMT and by meta tag). Other pages on the same domain are not treated this way by Google. No translation is proposed for all subpages of this website. Obviously, Google considers the homepage of this website english instead of german. Any fix for that? It is a *.org Wolfgang

Single keyword not ranking in US only
I recently took on a client who had a 6 month old site, and had not done any seo or link building. All links so far have been natural, I can't see anything dodgy that would cause a problem. It's fairly niche so just sorting out the page titles and a bit of on site stuff got them ranking on page 1 & 2 in the UK and US for most of their keywords. However their main keyword which is just the name of the product (lets say xxx and xxxs ) does not appear anywhere in the US search, despite ranking #10 in the UK and all related terms ('what is xxx', 'how to use xxx', 'benfits of xxx' etc) having similar rank on both. They didn't have any analytics installed before I took over so I can't see any historical changes in traffic from different keywords. Any ideas why one single keyword would not show up at all just on Google US when everything else is ok?

What eCommerce Regulations are there when selling in the UK?
I was informed last night that in a month from now one of my clients is launching some campaigns with a daily deal partner in the UK (Great Britain & New Zealand). (Yes, first time I'd heard of it) Regardless of the timeline, our team is now tasked with making sure we have their site ready for selling in the UK. I just want to make sure we're crossing all our T's and dotting the I's. (We're based in the U.S. and selling all physical products, no digital) A couple questions came to mind: Are we required to display the product prices in the local currency? - I thought this was kind of silly, but the daily deal partner thought this was required. VAT - Is it seriously 20% in United Kingdom? And is that flat across the whole area? Would make it a lot easier than the US with 1,000's of different tax rates. Any other rules or regulations that come to mind would be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance for your response! Have a great day, Kevin

Redirecting users based on location
My site is available in EN, DE, SW, SP, FR, IT, CH and JP. However, the EN sites ranks much better than the other languages, and even when searching in another language the EN homepage is normally the result that appears. Would it be worthwhile to automatically redirect users to the site in the same language they are searching in or country they are searching from? If so, how do I go about this? Thanks!
