Historical Linkscape/OSE data available?
-
Hey Mozzerati, I'm curious if there's a way to expose and analyze historical data from each previous Linkscape/OpenSiteExplorer (OSE) update.
Essentially, I'm looking for something similar to MajesticSEO's Backlink History tool that can show you both daily links over a short time as well as cumulative links over a long period. I think the utility of such a tool is to see which competitors have gained many links over a short period, signalling that they're engaging in some form of link-building/-buying/-baiting activity.
Is there any way to yield this data (other than to record it manually after each Linkscape/OSE update) from SEOmoz PRO tools?

Historical Ranking data is cool but what Zeal & I are looking for is Historical Linking information...
-
Yes, thanks for the reminder, Zeal. PRO tools show historical ranking data going back quite a ways. I don't remember exactly when they implemented this, but it's a great feature.

Hi Jonathon,
Any news on this yet? Or are we still hanging tight?
-
Hi Jonathon,
Rand mentioned at the amazing Distilled Link Building event last week that this was something that is coming in SEOmoz Pro tools. Hang tight, and I think we'll have it soon.

Inbound Links/Spam Score - Disavow
Hi I have been using the Links tool in our Pro account on Moz, using the MOZ spam score/inbound links tool I can identify the linking domains and their spam rating. It shows we currently have around 4.8k linking domains and when I export the data I receive information like below. (Name - Spam Score)

I don’t want to ignore them if they could harm us. Thanks Mike0 -
Any reason why an OSE spam Score is different for www and non-www versions of a site?
When checking the root domain links and DA in OSE pasted a non-www URL of my site and showed up with a spam score of 9. When I pasted the www. version it showed none. Does anyone think this is a cause for concern or just a bug?

Feedback on Content Ideation / "Skyscraper" Spreadsheet Template
Hi All - I've been getting a ton of use out of the MOZ API for discovering the popularity of content - which I'm using for content ideation or to implement the Skyscraper concept. I built a spreadsheet template that combines MOZ with some other APIs to apply this to new topics of my choosing, and my friends encouraged me to clean it up a bit and share with the broader community. So, here it is - fire away! I'd love any and all feedback about the spreadsheet - it's a prototype still so it could stand to pull back more results. For example: would you want to include Domain Authority in the results? Focus more or less on the social sharing elements - or let you choose the thresholds? Would love to know if there other methodologies for which you'd be interested in seeing spreadsheet templates produced. Cheers! skyscraper-template.png

Update in Moz spider/tools?? Flagging duplicate content / ignoring canonical
Hi all, Has there been an update in the SEOmoz crawling software? We now have thousands of dupe content/page title warnings for paginated product page URLs that have correctly formatted canonicals. e.g. http://www.woolovers.com/british-wool/mens/tweed-green/wool-countryman-suede-patch-sweater.aspx ... has following pages with identical content that have been flagged: http://www.woolovers.com/british-wool/mens/olive-green/wool-countryman-suede-patch-sweater.aspx?p=true&rspage=4 http://www.woolovers.com/british-wool/mens/olive-green/wool-countryman-suede-patch-sweater.aspx?p=true&rspage=6 http://www.woolovers.com/british-wool/mens/olive-green/wool-countryman-suede-patch-sweater.aspx?p=true&rspage=4 ..plus 4 more URL's. But they all have canonical set. There's even a notice at the bottom of report that tells us there's a canonical set to http://www.woolovers.com/british-wool/mens/tweed-green/wool-countryman-suede-patch-sweater.aspx What gives, SEOmoz ?? Thanks Michael

Rankings w/ Geographic Bias
I'm looking for a way to see the right rankings with geographic bias in mind. As an example, is there a way to indicate to SEOMoz to pull Google Rankings for San Francisco. The most narrow I can get is by country which won't work for several clients. I know Linkdex does this but would love to know if SEOMoz has a similar capability? If not, does anyone know of another company besides Linkdex?

What tools/software provide the most comprehensive list of backlinks to your domain?
We're currently looking for a product that has the capability of providing a comprehensive list of backlinks pointing to our domain, which currently has 400+ URLs. We've tried SEOMoz Pro, Google Webmaster Tools, and Majestic SEO. Does anyone have any recommendations or tips on getting the best report of backlinks?

OSE Advanced for specific directory only?
Pls how do I set up Open Site Explorer Advanced to look for backlinks to files in ONLY a certain directory? so if the domain is 1234.com, I don't care about links to 1234.com. OSE can find those very neatly! What I do care about is ONLY links to 1234.com/profiles and I can't seem to figure out a way to do this. the /profiles directory has thousands of profiles in it - and we think we have hundreds of thousands of backlinks - so ideally, I'd like to use regex or DOS like filtering to look at only those which start with 9 or 8 or whatever.

What happened to OSE/Linkscape data?
Can any member of the Moz team or of the community comment on the most recent OCE/linkscape update as of 09/08/2011. It appears that the link data capture for one of our platform is dramatically different than previously and that there are some huge discrepancies? Any update on the change would be appreciated as we use all these updates as benchmarks. Thanks
