Sudden drop and Rise in SERPs
-
Our site was affected by panda but now we have recovered almost. But some strange things are going with our site for example
Traffic for some pages has been dropped(over 100 position) overnight and recover. (graph is attached for a page).
We have dropped(over 100 position) on all keywords for a page except a single keyword (staying on first or 2n position).
Our home page is not ranking in top 100 position for title keywords.
Is our website under any type of filter or penalized by Google?.
What is your opinion about our internal link structure and content?
URL http://bit.ly/rvxzDm and graph for this page is attached for sample data.
looking for your opinion and suggestions.
Thanks

I am very thank full to you all for your value able comments. We are going to redesign our website to make it more clean, focused and with the community development platforms like member area, blogs etc. We will also motivate the visitors to generate content that may not only help the other visitors but also increase the percentage of unique content on our site. We have also made some changes(in our current site) to decrease the duplicate content. Again Thanks for your input.

Matt Cutts has stated, take way advertising, content from other domains, duplicate content and look at what left, is it usefull and original?
Is this content found elsewhere on the internet?
If so you have thin content, you need to add more original content.

Alex,
It is difficult to know why you are getting the somewhat sawtooth pattern on the graph. Are you doing any type of online initiative that is driving traffic to the site during the up periods? Etc.As to the site and specifically internal link structure, for the page you show, there are over 600 internal links when every suggestion I know of re internal linking is not to exceed 100. Yes, there are arguments that Google will crawl all, etc. but at some point, to me it makes it difficult on the engine to know what you are deeming to be relevant. I think things are just too cluttered here. With many who have sites like yours it becomes about how many ways can I move someone on the site, etc. Yes, you want them to use your coupons so there is a payoff, but I would try to do it in a way that was a bit cleaner and not with throwing the kitchen sink at them. (Note: this is intuitive for me as I have never managed a Coupon or Offer site).
I think you need to look at getting a little less shotgun in your approach and a little more rifle. If I am looking to shop at the firm you have on this page, keep me on that for that firm's items. Keep it simple, keep it clean.

Is the whole site based on crawling and xml submission? i have seen a similar effect when alot of content was feeded in. the relevance drops since it looks like copied content can you twist of add content to your feed? That might help and try to get more unique content. There must be loads of cuponers that have cupons or know about cupons and would like too submit, exchange, or even trade cupons with others? Am I right?

Sudden Rankings Drop for Good Keywords.. Did I Do This? Please Help :(
Hello, I noticed a gradual rankings drop for 3 important keywords over the last month, with a pretty big plummet the last two weeks. Overall in the last month+ we dropped from position 9 to 41.I noticed this when I dug further after noticing traffic dropping since February (not a drastic traffic drop). I should note that the keywords took people to my client's homepage. Their branded keywords have no suffered and I looked at a couple others that haven't either. Now, there is a link in the site footer (we have site wide header and footer) that takes you to a static page that contains links for the 2 digital flipbook catalogs the customer has (one for US and one for Canada). My concern is that at the end of January I had a developer implement a noindex/nofollow meta robot & robots.txt disallow specifically on the HTML pages/URL of the Canadian catalog ONLY. It specifically pointed to that flipbook URL. This catalog is nearly identical to the US catalog and I thought I'd be eliminating duplicate content and helping with crawl budget. After looking further into it last week (reading up about internal nofollows not necessarily being detrimental, but not recommended) and noticing the drop in search visibility traffic (starting gradually in March), I had the disallow/nofollow removed. This was last week, and over this last week the traffic took an even bigger drop (not amazingly drastic but enough to be concerned) and I noticed the keywords that we did ok for dropped even more this last week (down to 41). I'm concerned this has to do with the change I made at the end of January and reversed back. I should note that I don't think these catalogs or the static page that links to them brought any traffic. The keywords I am concerned about fell on our homepage (where the link to the static page that contains the links to both catalogs is in the sitewide footer) The catalogs are a couple hundred pages. I honestly don't see how this could do it, unless it has something to do with the footer being sitewide? There have been site upgrades/dev changes over the last couple months too (although I am not sure if that affected other clients who received the same upgrade), so this is hard to pinpoint. Sorry this is so long but I'd appreciate someone offering some insight to help ease my mind a bit!

Fetch and render partial result could this affect SERP rankings [NSFW URL]
Moderator's Note: URL NSFW We have been desperately trying to understand over the last 10 days why our homepage disappears for a few days in the SERPS for our most important keywords, before reappearing again for a few more days and then gone again! We have tried everything. Checked Google webmaster - no manual actions, no crawl errors, no messages. The site is being indexed even when it disappears but when it's gone it will not even appear in the search results for our business name. Other internal pages come up instead. We have searched for bad back links. Duplicate content. We put a 301 redirect on the non www. version of the site. We added a H1 tag that was missing. Still after fetching as Google and requesting reindexing we were going through this cycle of disappearing in the rankings (an internal page would actually come in at 6th position as opposed to our home page which had previously spent years in the number 2 spot) and then coming back for a few days. Today I tried fetch and render as Google and was only getting a partial result. It was saying the video that we have embedded on our home page was temporarily unavailable. Could this have been causing the issue? We have removed the video for now and fetched and rendered and returned a complete status. I've now requested reindexing and am crossing everything that this fixes the problem. Do you think this could have been at the root of the problem? If anyone has any other suggestions the address is NSFW https://goo.gl/dwA8YB

Why extreme drop in number of pages indexed via GWMT sitemaps?
Any tips on why our GWMT Sitemaps indexed pages dropped to 27% of total submitted entries (2290 pages submitted, 622 indexed)? Already checked the obvious Test Sitemap, valid URLs etc. We had typically been at 95% of submitted getting indexed.

Google badge extracted to SERPs
It's a while ago that (i thought) I read the following information on the Google badge. Here https://developers.google.com/+/plugins/badge/ we have the implementation guide, however I was under the impression the Google badge could be thereafter extracted into SERPs so the user could follow etc... direct from SERPs. I can't find anything confirming this. I think that it might clash with authorship data which does a similar job, but where a site page is not relevant to authorship at all, I would have thought linking back to the G+ page from SERPs was a sensible option. Can anyone confirm the Google badge can appear in SERPs?

Bing Disappearance Act - SERPs gone/extremely reduced for no apparent reason
Around November 23rd/25th - SERPs on Bing largely disappeared for my website. I did a site relaunch with new optimized content and proper redirects on November 12th. How can I tell if my site has been blocked by Bing? How long does a sitemap take to be indexed by Bing? Is this is a normal practice for sites that seem to have massive amounts of new content on Bing? Funny thing is things have only gotten better on Google which I know is unrelated but it's funny how Bing makes things so easy yet so difficult! Would appreciate any thoughts, help, etc. on my Bing disappearing act. domain: www.laptopmd.com

What would cause a drastic drop in pages crawled per day?
The site didn't go down. There were no drop in rankings, or traffic. But we went from averaging 150,000 pages crawled per day, to ~1000 pages crawled per day. We're now back up to ~100,000 crawled per day, but we went more than a week with only 1000 pages being crawled daily. The question is, what could cause this drastic (but temporary) reduction in pages crawled?
