How can I Pull OSE Data for Multiple URL's at once
-
I'm putting together a link prospecting csv (very basic/simple). I'm doing my own manual hunting for link prospects and compiling them in a list in that excel doc. Once I'm done with that, I want to pull OSE data on a larger scale (MozRank, PA, DA, etc.). I know Niel Bosma's SEO tools for Excel exists, but I have a Mac, and it's not available for that. And I can't really pay for any of the big tools right now (ie BuzzStream). Does anybody know of a good tool or way of going about pulling this data in a way that will save time? As opposed to pulling data for each URL one by one. ANY tips would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks to both of you. Cyrus, I took a look at those tools over the weekend and they're definitely going to help and exactly what I was looking for.

Sounds like your looking for the Site Intelligence API, although it might require a bit of a learning curve, depending on your experience. That said, it's really the only way to do what you are looking for. Once you get the hang of it it's really quite easy, and it's how a lot of SEO agencies like Distilled get their information.
There's a free or paid version of the API. The instructions for getting a key can be found on the site.
Aside from the resources Brian mentioned, you might find the following helpful.
Easy API (paid, haven't tried it so I can't vouch for it, but might be interesting)
Beginners Guide to SEOmoz's API
Linkscape and Google Spreadsheets
Agile Tools using Google Spreadsheets
Hope this helps.

Hi Michael,
Tom Anthony wrote a great introduction on the SEOmoz Blog here on how to use Google Docs to help automate this kind of work. Check out his post here: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/competitive-analysis-in-under-60-seconds-using-google-docs-12649
There's still some work to do to set it up and configure it the way that you want, but it'll help get you closer to what you're looking for with automating OSE reports.

URL Length Issue
MOZ is telling me the URLs are too long. I did a little research and I found out that the length of the URLs is not really a serious problem. In fact, others recommend ignoring the situation. Even on their blog I found this explanation: "Shorter URLs are generally preferable. You do not need to take this to the extreme, and if your URL is already less than 50-60 characters, do not worry about it at all. But if you have URLs pushing 100+ characters, there's probably an opportunity to rewrite them and gain value. This is not a direct problem with Google or Bing - the search engines can process long URLs without much trouble. The issue, instead, lies with usability and user experience. Shorter URLs are easier to parse, copy and paste, share on social media, and embed, and while these may all add up to a fractional improvement in sharing or amplification, every tweet, like, share, pin, email, and link matters (either directly or, often, indirectly)." And yet, I have these questions: In this case, why do I get this error telling me that the urls are too long, and what are the best practices to get this out? Thank You

Need help understanding search filter URL's and meta tags
Good afternoon Mozzers, One of our clients is a real estate agent and on that site there is a search field that will allow a person to search by filtered categories. Currently, the URL structure makes a new URL for each filter option and in my Moz reports I get the report that there is missing meta data. However, the page is the same the filter options are different so I am at a loss as to how to proper tag our site to optimize those URL's. Can I rel canonical the URL's or alt rel them? I have been looking for a solution for a few days now and like I said I am at a loss of how to properly resolve these warning messages, or if I should even be concerned with the warning messages from Moz (obviously I should be concerned, they are warning messages for a reason). Thank you for your assistance in advance!

Website data updates
Hello All, I have downloaded some reports for "following" links from SEO Moz and no doubt the report is very comprehensive. However, I know some links listed in the reports does have rel="nofollow" tag attached to it but it is list still shown that they are following links. Can some please guide be to understand why this has happened. Is it possible that SEO Moz has old data of our site because these changes were recently done (2-3 weeks before)..? OR Have I misunderstood following as dofollow..? Any help would be highly appreciated. Thanks, moosa.

How to tell where a competitor's Facebook Shares are coming from?
Is there a way to tell where a competitor's facebook shares and likes are coming from? How to also tell what ads they have running in Facebook and their spend? I am looking at OSE's data and its telling me a competitor has 8.5K Facebook shares and 1K facebook likes. I go to their facebook page and it has about 25 likes. This site should not have anywhere close to the facebook shares/likes its receiving so wondering where they are getting their boosted traffic from.

Why would PA be 1 (0 links from 0 root domains) if it's linked to internally?
Question just about said it all: I've seen a number of pages on sites that have a PA of 1 (with the metrics being 0 links from 0 root domains) when I can see on the site that it is linked to internally - from the main nav (which is CSS, not Javascript) and also from the footer, if not other places. Why would this be? Update: upon looking further at the site, it appears that there's some kind of redirect going on, where the page linked to from the nav actually redirects to the real page. Would that eliminate PA, even if it's a 301? And additionally, is whatever is causing this lack of PA a reflection of how Google would relate to the page? Thanks, Aviva
